I sort of agree with him. My dad read The Hobbit to me when I was about six, and again when I was eight, and I loved that book so much. Lord of the Rings is good, but I miss Bilbo. And also, The Hobbit is one of the best pieces of children's literature out there. In LOTR, you can't turn a page without seeing a giant explanation of a tree or a mountain or a river or what.
