Hell, high altitude bombers SUPPORTED by fighter escorts would have rained hell on those ships, especially with precision guided bombs. Apaches and Cobras could hang back 1500 meters and launch hellfire rockets, and SAM sites could handle the aircraft while arty pounds the fuck out of them.

If the movie's ending had focused on the military's defeat, it actually could be a redeeming factor to this otherwise turd of a film. Imagine, seeing this one soldier who's lost his entire team and is desperately fighting back. Jarrod and Elaine could assist him, and it would end with the giant alien going down in flames, just showing that they are vulnerable and can be defeated, even if they've already won.
This movie was "bad" only because the humans consistently got their asses whooped. The audience likes a little bit of HOPE within the movie. As unrealistic as Independence Day and Battle LA were, they both showed humans occassionally kicking some ass where as in this film, humanity just fails to achieive any real victories, which sadly...is probably a more realistic outcome.

I have seen thousands of films and I can tell you this is some of the worst acting I have seen in the last couple years. The filmmakers spent so much on effects that they didn't have enough money to hire decent actors, which is why you didn't see a single actor that you recognized other than the Hispanic guy from The Expendables.

@cryteeek Sorry, that is most definitely NOT an F-22. It's a generic design clearly based on it, but the cockpit, full-body wings and vertical stabilizers, in fact, the whole plane, is just wrong. It's as if you gave a child a 2-second glance at a photo of an F-22 and asked him to draw it back from memory.

It honestly looks like they were trying to make a CGI F-22 but utterly failed in that:
-The shape isn't quite right.
-The wing and chassis have no detail or USAF logos.
-The F-22 has ground attack capabilities, it would use a JDAM, not the vulcan cannon, which is a weapon of last resort and has about 3 seconds worth of ammo.
@CobaltX07 Also, what I noticed, it that when the airplane rotates around the two people when its hit. The size of the airplane is alot smaller than what it should be. From the point at which the airplane just misses them as it crashes. It looks alot smaller than what it should be.

This movie could have been so much more epic if they crossed it over with 300.... the main characters probably would have been burying the aliens in dead alien bodies and stabbing them in the face with really long spears then

Well, this movie wasn't horrible. It was disappointing but not horrible. The acting was decent but its storyline brings Nothing new to the game - just cheap and poor imitation of War of the Worlds, Cloverfield and even The X Files. Some moments reminded me Supernova (2000) and Alien franchise

@101andrewj Any enemy can be defeated. This movie shows seemingly invincable alians. That would be imposible. There is not a person or peace of tech that would not be affected by a nuck strike. Them regenerating there ship after a nuck strike is totaly imposible. I mean the ship did not even have shilds like in Independance day. That atleast I would have respected. No the ship took a direct hit and crashed. Then rebuilt with out any issues. No enemy can be that advanced.

@101andrewj Do you even know anythign about science? If something gets a direct unshilded hit with a Nuke is on fire and crashes into the ground. It is not getting up. I don't care how advanced the tech might be. It will be limited by the laws of Physics. Those say it will not rebuild it self to brand new look minuts after a Nuke hit. It may be posible for some of the alians to survive but not the ship. It is toast plain and simple.
@101andrewj Current science also says a nuclear explosion burns brighter than a sun, and that when an explosion happens inside an object, said object is blown apart. Yet the aliens ship was not incinerated or blown apart by the nuclear weapon that detonated inside it. Also logically, when harvesting a resource (in this case humans), you don't completely deplete the resource if it is renewable. You take a part and let it regrow, then harvest again. Read about farming.
@RedneckRapture look up nuclear pulse technology, it is the idea of driving a spaceship through contained nucelar explosions... so yeah, some things can withstand a nuke... and its clear that if aliens make it here, they would have mastered nano technology, and i think its completly reasonable that the ship rebuilt itself
@101andrewj I know about nuclear pulse propulsion. A small, directional nuclear blast does not compare to the full force nuclear explosion used in the movie, so that argument fails to launch.
@RedneckRapture a tactical nuclear weapon is just that. a small focused nuclear blast with minimal fallout. nukes are clearly very poweful. but you dont think if we progressed another 10 000 years into the future at our current rate of technological progress we might find out how to counter them, or mabie even build something that could withstand or restructure itself after one.. look at just 100 years, 1910, like 5 wood planes in the air, 2010 we got robot probes all across the solar system

@101andrewj Uh, no, nuclear pulse propulsion uses a whole lot less material than a nuclear weapon, even the tactical ones. The plain and simple is the ship should have been vaporized, since a nuclear detonation, even a tactical one, DOES burn hotter than the sun. With the ship incinerated, there's nothing to rebuild. And even if we advance as far as you say, I'd still bet that a nuclear detonation inside a ship would destroy it. We would have to have shields.

@101andrewj You're forgetting the 'incinerated' part. The ship should have been incinerated, destroyed to the point where there was nothing to rebuild. On screen visuals and science demand it. The nuclear explosion wasn't small, as it would have been if the ship contained most of the blast, which would have had the movie's end result. The explosion seemed uneffected by the ship being at its center, which means that the explosion should have vaporized it, which is backed by science.

It honestly looks like they were trying to make a CGI F-22 but utterly failed in that:
-The shape isn't quite right.
-The wing and chassis have no detail or USAF logos.
-The F-22 has ground attack capabilities, it would use a JDAM, not the vulcan cannon, which is a weapon of last resort and has about 3 seconds worth of ammo.

@CobaltX07 Also, what I noticed, it that when the airplane rotates around the two people when its hit. The size of the airplane is alot smaller than what it should be. From the point at which the airplane just misses them as it crashes. It looks alot smaller than what it should be.

Well, this movie wasn't horrible. It was disappointing but not horrible. The acting was decent but its storyline brings Nothing new to the game - just cheap and poor imitation of War of the Worlds, Cloverfield and even The X Files. Some moments reminded me Supernova (2000) and Alien franchise
The Best and the most unique SCI-FI movies were in the 50's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Unfortunately Our modern so-called "blockbusters" are poor sequels, useless remakes, stupid rip offs etc

@101andrewj Any enemy can be defeated. This movie shows seemingly invincable alians. That would be imposible. There is not a person or peace of tech that would not be affected by a nuck strike. Them regenerating there ship after a nuck strike is totaly imposible. I mean the ship did not even have shilds like in Independance day. That atleast I would have respected. No the ship took a direct hit and crashed. Then rebuilt with out any issues. No enemy can be that advanced.

@101andrewj Do you even know anythign about science? If something gets a direct unshilded hit with a Nuke is on fire and crashes into the ground. It is not getting up. I don't care how advanced the tech might be. It will be limited by the laws of Physics. Those say it will not rebuild it self to brand new look minuts after a Nuke hit. It may be posible for some of the alians to survive but not the ship. It is toast plain and simple.

@101andrewj Current science also says a nuclear explosion burns brighter than a sun, and that when an explosion happens inside an object, said object is blown apart. Yet the aliens ship was not incinerated or blown apart by the nuclear weapon that detonated inside it. Also logically, when harvesting a resource (in this case humans), you don't completely deplete the resource if it is renewable. You take a part and let it regrow, then harvest again. Read about farming.

@RedneckRapture look up nuclear pulse technology, it is the idea of driving a spaceship through contained nucelar explosions... so yeah, some things can withstand a nuke... and its clear that if aliens make it here, they would have mastered nano technology, and i think its completly reasonable that the ship rebuilt itself

@RedneckRapture a tactical nuclear weapon is just that. a small focused nuclear blast with minimal fallout. nukes are clearly very poweful. but you dont think if we progressed another 10 000 years into the future at our current rate of technological progress we might find out how to counter them, or mabie even build something that could withstand or restructure itself after one.. look at just 100 years, 1910, like 5 wood planes in the air, 2010 we got robot probes all across the solar system

@101andrewj Uh, no, nuclear pulse propulsion uses a whole lot less material than a nuclear weapon, even the tactical ones. The plain and simple is the ship should have been vaporized, since a nuclear detonation, even a tactical one, DOES burn hotter than the sun. With the ship incinerated, there's nothing to rebuild. And even if we advance as far as you say, I'd still bet that a nuclear detonation inside a ship would destroy it. We would have to have shields.

@101andrewj You're forgetting the 'incinerated' part. The ship should have been incinerated, destroyed to the point where there was nothing to rebuild. On screen visuals and science demand it. The nuclear explosion wasn't small, as it would have been if the ship contained most of the blast, which would have had the movie's end result. The explosion seemed uneffected by the ship being at its center, which means that the explosion should have vaporized it, which is backed by science.
