I also think her better than those other singers that you mention, except "perhaps", the grand lady Ella F. There were two ballrooms at that time, The Aragon on the north side and the Trianon at 63rd and Cottage Grove. There were other dance venues but they were not catering to white folks, there was Lincoln Gardens and Club De Lisa. Actually, I did check with Google and found out that Dinah Washington died of an accidental overdose of prescripton drugs. Obviously that rules out suicide! I didn't think Dinah Washington was the type of woman to commit suicide anyway. She sounded way too strong for that!!

@Alemayehu45 You are obviously much younger than I, I first heard Nancy while living in Dallas about 1964, and I first thought it was Dinah, the DJ identified her and in subsequent offering by her I found her voice and that of Dinah to almost indistinguishable. I'm not sure that I have ever heard Little Jimmy, I doubt that I have. I saw Nancy on some television show and she gave me that "smell of me" impression and I have nothing in my record library by Nancy.
