Yes and no. The groin or adductor muscles work very closely with the inner quad (VMO) to move the knee. By turning the leg out while lifting, you are using the inner quad and groin, but not to target the groin, but to improve the inner quad activation. This is a low level exercise for those who have significant knee issues and not for general use.

this stuff will only help you for a small amount of time. You need to build quad muscle using leg press, leg extensions, dead lifts, and squats.

Anyone know if this strengthens the kneecap muscles? It's been popping lately but then goes away. I'm thinking I need to do this exercise...

this exercise is only one of many exercises recommended for patellar problems. by itself it probably isn't enough.

this is a low-level exercise and will only progress someone a small amount. closed kinetic chain exercises are needed for significant progress.
