My wife met Tony Hart many times as his life drew to its end. Tony suffered from diabetes, and, as a dietitian, she tried to to control his condition and keep him around that bit longer. She said he was a lovely man, but he didn't take kindly to being old, or being ill....
Excellent playing. I am desperate to know the chord sequence behind the tune. Any chance you can post it. You have changed the key to D - I think the first 2 chards are D then B7 after that I struggle.
this theme was on CBBCs SMart with Mark Speight and Kirstin O'Brien when Speight and O'Brien looked throught the SMart Gallery and the show was nearing the end. Still prefer the original.
Very happy memories of growing up watching Tony Hart in Vision On and Take Hart. Why on earth you never got an OBE I'll never know. RIP and sincere condolonices to your family.
Oh heaven just been sent back to my childhood with our tiny black and white telly that had to warm up before you saw any picture. You could quite often hear what was going on but couldn't see it. Loved it
When my brother was about 5 he sent a drawing of a lighthouse into Vision On hoping to get it shown on the gallery. We waited for weeks and weeks and it didn't appear and then in the half-term break, when we went out and missed Vision On, it was shown! After I'd assured everyone that Vision On wasn't on that afternoon 'cos I wanted us to go out...
Trowy237: unfortunately, according to Wikipedia, John Williams' Cavatina was the original gallery tune, used until The Deer Hunter film adopted the tune. Left Bank Two was used after this point, and carried on into Take Hart (although Cavatina also made a reappearance here), Hartbeat, and even SMart.
A girl in my office called Jelly says that this wasn't the original theme from the Gallery ????? She says it was the theme from the Deerhunter. Please, please put her out of her misery and confirm that the Deerhunter was not the the theme tune.... She doesn't believe anyone in the office as the voices in her head are telling her it's something else......
That's true Cavatina was used for The Gallery until it became associated with The Deerhunter at which point they started using this instead, that's what Wikipedia says, unless the girl from your office edited Wikipedia?
It brings back memories, there are lots of those on youtube. Try the seekers, cilla, avangers, etc! I love it. Find a memory and type it in, and there you go.
yay! i am trying to find this song for a seaside video spoof everywhere. i can find it on here but nowhere else, cant find the actually song anywhere. help me people!
Man, oh, man! That sounds sooooo good. I used to watch "Vision On" on WDSU channel 6, in New Orleans, on Saturday afternoons. I used to hope they were not going to shuffle it around for football, golf, or something else less enjoyable.
The whole point of this is that in those days broadcasters didn't insult the viewers intelligence no matter what age they were. Pure quality broadcasting. Bring in back - please.....

I like to pause it at 0:30 and imagine he is stroking two American Water Spaniels - one slightly shorter than the other.
The shorter one has a daffodil sticking out of it's anus.

nah m8, though not a bad attempt, the orginal noveltones version is much better, too much organ sounds in this version
paulyboy0312 3 years ago
play it straight - trying to be too creative - and 'organy' spoils it
