you have to ask yourself..why did it fail? Here you go. when you pop the tang with a small punch or something like it. if you strike it funny, it will dislodge the first coil just enough for it to fail the gage. so... the best tool would be one that's just small of the minor diameter. and strike it smartly. nice fix/save though.
