No need to be afraid Kittykatty. I´ve been traveling ekonomi from yogya to jakarta one day before Idul Fitri. No seats available, totally overcrowded, lying on the floor with my feet resting in the toilet, ngobrol and nyanyikan lagu2 dgn tentara & teman2... My opinion is, that the true Indonesia can only be found in ekonomi classes... (and its cheaper anyway, 4$ for crossing half Java :-)
The economy train is great. To heck with taxis and tourist traps!
