  • How does that stuff hold out with car washes, brushless and brush?

  • and i masked all behind the wheel with the wheels still on.. if you think about it, it's really simple

  • just did this today to my 05 gto stock 17s. there is no need to take the wheels off if you can get every angle.. came out awesome.. did 5 coats each wheel.. so far looks excellent.. even if it comes off for some odd reason after a while i'll probably do this again.. costed me about $10.. can't go wrong with this

  • will it come off when you wash the car??

  • @evergtz95 i have plastidip on the front bumper of my 05 forester xt. ive been through 4 car washes so far and it still looks like i just put the plasti dip on. its very durable stuff. the washes had the spinning brushes that beat the front of ur car, too

  • @evergtz95 no it will not

  • hey man can u plastidip the hood of a car?

  • @tzxsr yes. they have a kit that is set up to actually cover ur whole car

  • @tzxsr yes of course :) as ttiffom2016 said, we have our Pro Car Kit - specifically for whole cars or large surface areas

  • 3:40 the right spoke has some stretched out dip?

  • You made a mess...

  • How did you manage to get the brake rotors covered in tape without taking the wheels off....

  • @ModernWarfare2man just reached in through the spokes to apply the tape

  • can you tell me what i can use to take off overspray on a garage floor?

  • @VenusSensai goo gone will take it off

  • @TheDieselman79 You can plasti dip anything. I did it to a lot of parts on my car.

  • whats the easiest way to cover calipers and rotors?

  • What are the index cards for in the wheel kit on your site??

  • I just plasti dipped my WHOLE car. It turned out GREAT! I am soo happy with it. I was originally planning to get it re-painted so I sanded the whole car down with 400 wet. I used to work in a high end body shop so sanding cars and prepping them is not a big deal. I am curios to see how long this will last. I put on 7 good coats, do you think the plasti dip will last longer if I wiped it down once a week with some sort of protector such as Amor all?

  • so you dont have to do any clear coating when plasti dipping? also, I have this same car, how many cans did you need to do this?

  • Hey man, how well does plasti dip settle with armor all/tire foam? cause i clean my wheels a lot, but i dont want to mess up my dip!

  • great vid, looks awesome. I want the exact finish onmy truck rims and tool box. how does the plasti dip hold up to wear? i am guessing this is the best method regarding convienience? would sanding priming with auto primer and painting with engine enamel like ive seen in other vids hold up better? also, did you clean and/or sand the rims before sprayin em with the plasti dip? thanks, thumbs up on the vid...

  • why not just paint them with vht paint with the wheel off and then paint your brakes aswell

  • if i dont have painters tape. can't i just squeeze a garbage between rotors and wheels?

    ??

  • can you plasti dip a plastic front bumper. want to black out my dodge ram

  • I'd been considering painting my snow wheels while on the car, I'm glad to see I'm not totally crazy. You do have a lot of space to tape off the brakes, not sure that I do. I just went to your site (again). I like that you have custom blended colors. I hadn't planned on doing anything in pink, since I'm making my car darker but what color is the pink. Make a video with the samples. Thanks

  • Fonzie, Do I need to be easy with the plasitdip? For example such as cleaning the rims with a brush, will the brush scratch the plastidip? And can you give me an idea in the durability of plastidip?

  • i have a 04 dodge ram rumble bee im going to plasti dip my rims but im not taking them off whats the best way to get my tape on my breaks?

  • AYE! with two thumbs up! what about the curb rash there fonzie?

  • @joshcrosson the dip did ok covering the curb rash. only other option is to sand/grind it down before applying the dip - but that's a whole other project ;)

  • so you took off the wheels, and pt it back on to paint it?!!?!? WTF

  • @hernandadmx I don't understand the question there man.. the wheel never came off the car.

  • @DipYourCarcom oh, ok, I thought you took off the wheel to tape it. Can you paint powdercoat? or non glossy surfaces?

  • @DipYourCarcom he's saying you took off the wheel to mask off the rotor and caliper.

  • @DipYourCarcom

is there any potential damage/hazard to my braking system if i so happen to get a little plasti dip on my calipers and or rotors?

  • @DipYourCarcom how did you get the tape on so well over the rotors and breaks?

  • @DipYourCarcom hermandadmx prob thinks u took the wheel off to cover calipers n discs with the tape

  • If you plasti dip the wheels and hit a curb, will the whole thing begin to peel jsut like when u r removing the excess

  • @jbone7772000 Depends on how hard you ht the curb - but chances are if you hit it hard - it will screw up the finish

  • @jbone7772000 so learn how to drive and don't hit the curb dumbass

  • hey, how do you tape off the inside of the wheel?

Jack up the car and take off the wheel then tape it off or stick your hand in and do what you can?

  • @BenHasTalent we usually stick our hands in and tape the brakes off that way. if the wheel doesn't allow that, then they have to come off.

  • @DipYourCarcom Fonzie,I have a 2010 f150 in black,if I were to plasti dip the truck white it would turn out flat white right?

  • what if the rims are chrome_?

  • @debayders same process!

  • Now say you did cover the inside of the rim with the tape like you did, and if some of the plasti dip did get inside there would it be damaging?

  • @Xxdarkfire8xX you just want to protect and keep the plastidip out of the brake mechanisms

  • What'd you do for the hubcaps?

Did you spray over the screws?

  • @Z71AllTerrain they pop off. just for show

  • How do i spell your name?

  • @Baaaaaws Fonzie

  • I like this stuff, i have used it on Front & Back Toyota emblem, i have painted a lip a front & back lip on the car, have sprayed all my tires, & even looks good on my hood. Looks like carbon fiberish

  • You would save more time by taking off the rim from the car.

  • 2 cans would do it, maybe 3 to be safe

  • About how many cans will I need for 16 inch rims?

Thanks for the video...I was about to go out and spend 250$ on black wheels...now u can have then for a lot cheaper

  • Awsome just got my cans today will plasti dip my rims tomorrow morning

  • Cool thanks

  • This is amazing! How many cans would I need to cover a set of 17inch rims? Also my rims looked scratched up how bad the clear coat it faded so should I use a gloss or flat or would it now matter?

  • @crix868 for 17 inch rims the Wheel Kit we sell will be fine - comes with 4 cans. Wouldn't matter as far as the finish - the matte or gloss would cover your scratched rims easily!

  • One more question: would I be able to use regular spray paint over top of the plasti dip and it still come off as easy?

  • @bubbyluv no.. spray paint over plastidip doesn't always work out very well. stick to the plastidip products if you can

  • Approximately how long will it last on ur rims because my buddy's rims started peeling and also do u recommend sanding them down?

  • @Josemiragels no sanding! No reason to ruin a wheel when it's not necessary. Your buddy probably didn't put enough coats on. 4-5 coats is recommended. I've had wheels dipped over 12 months without wear

  • what would happen if you got a little overspray on the rotor and calipers? I did mine with it on just like you and I saw specs of plastidip on some parts. Thank you!

  • @Masarame82p nothing.. the brakes would remove any minor overspray the first time you drive. Obviously you don't want to gunk up your brake mechanisms, but some overspray won't hurt

  • @DipYourCarcom thanks for the reply, subbed

  • How well did the plasti dip hide the curb rash? It's hard to tell in the video.

  • Awesome vid! I'm trying to decide what to do with my Charger on 22s. So many choices

  • So, let me get this straight... If your peeling off the over-spray that easily, wouldn't the plasti-dip theoretically peel from the surface being painted the same way? I know you've mentioned the durability of this stuff in a couple other replies but I guess the key is once it's cured?

  • @MrTTqUaTtRo once it hardens its not coming off unless u want it off trust me ,but if u do want it off it can be taken off in minutes

  • Can you make a video using the gold metalizer plasti dip please???

  • How many cans did you use for all of the wheels?

  • Do they have different colors in the spray can?

  • @bubbyluv if you go to our website - you can order custom colors

  • @DipYourCarcom oh ok cool..thanks bro

  • Is the finish durable and how long does it last just wanting to know if it would even be worth my time to do

  • @trevor9671 The finish is extremely durable - not effected by rocks, road debris, washing, ect. Lasts a long time - I've seen wheels dipped for over 9 months that are in basically perfect shape.

  • How long did you let it dry in between coats?

  • @chaseman94 5-7 minutes

  • How did you tape off the rotors and calipers without taking the rim off?

  • @chmbrs07 you just reach through the gaps in the wheel! As long as there is room for your hand - it's easy :)

  • @DipYourCarcom Im gonna need smaller hands lol...

  • you use Aerosol Spray - 311g or Regular Can 429ml ?

  • @aleoG4 311 g

  • Will the plasti dip clear coat give it a gloss finish? If u spray it with the clear coat will it still come off easy?

  • Comment removed

  • @GADAmuzik Yes, the Glossifier gives the PlastiDip a gloss finish. The Glossifier comes off just as easily as original plastidip!

  • anyone try putting clear over the black? to give a gloss coating to the wheels? or your only choice is a matte black?

  • Hey I just gone doing this step by step ,thx a lot for the video ,my Mazda 6 looks Fuckin amazing I also did the emblems, thx a lot for the video

  • @melo7477thegreat that's fantastic! great job - glad we could help :)

  • I would suggest using the Blue Painters tape to mast the rotors and calipers - you can use newspaper - just make sure you really pay attention and cover everything inside the wheel.

Nothing is used to prep the wheels - just a wash with soap and water!

  • Awesome Video, what exactly did you do/use to prep the car? Would I be okay covering the brakes and calipers with newspapers if dip with wheels on the car? Thanks
