  • I was right next to you! I was the drunk annoying one...sorry

  • I was right next to you! I was the drunk annoying one...sorry

  • I don't care for this song. I was standing there going "Really? This is the new Bright Eyes i've been waiting for?"

That's my opinion. Please believe your own. And no, I will not argue with you on youtube

  • @llamalameness I thought I was the only one.

  • I love how the "arguments" on bright eyes vids are always so polite. One love.

  • I like the live version better! Such a beautiful song.

  • i've probably watched this 15740 times.

  • studio version up on soundstrike website.

proceeds go to the soundstrike fund!

  • i am accountable for at least 10 views of this video.

  • I love conor's music, but personally I'm really disappointed in how this song turned out and the way he's strewed the law in Arizona. Between the melody and the lyrics it almost sounds like a 10 year old tried to write a song. Don't get me wrong, I've listened to him for years, but this song just seems like a real letdown.

  • @mrawesome15 I agree that there are parts of the lyrics that are a little simple, but there are also some beautiful and intelligent ones in there to. The line "It's just to know they've stolen another day from you and I" is heartbreaking. I think the fact that there's such a mixture of simplicity and complexity in one song is one of the things that's so endearing about CO.

  • @mrawesome15 I totally see your point. But I like the simplicity. I thnk sometimes it's needed. I totally dig your POV, though:)

  • The Navajo believed the Coyote guided the first man and woman to the physical world and he carried with him the first seeds of life. They never killed the Coyote because of that belief. The Shoshoni saw the Coyote as a change in direction a "way-maker." The sight of a Coyote to them meant a harsh winter, a flood, sickness, but it's not to be feared. The Coyote brings way for new beginnings

  • he sounds so good live. i was going to try to go to this, and i can't believe someone bought a ticket to protest this music when i could have gone to support it. =/

  • great song; ridiculous law

  • Here's also a rough transcription of the chords for guitar:

Chords for "Coyote Song"- Tuning: Eb Ab Db Gb Bb eb

    Verse:

    C G/E Am

    F (--2003) Dm

    Chorus

    Am Dm

    Am F Dm C

  • i really cannot wait for the studio version of this song.

  • @mkoscienski1

I always like his live versions more than the studio versions

  • beautiful.

  • I WAS THERE!

  • this is amaizing, thanks for posting this..i wish i could of been there...it makes me happy that he is fighting for justice. I support the sound strike.GO CONOR!!!! I love this song. it makes me have happy tears.

  • crying. so happy.

  • @dearlordbabyjesus it sounds like you are the kind of person who supports these types of laws. conor is using his position as a popular artist to voice his opinion and gain support. Just because he is an artist doesnt mean he has to an opinionless robot and its his stage he can do whatever he wants when hes up there. btw im sure if he read your comments it would only make him more sure of his decision to boycott AZ. Dont you have a nickelback concert you should be at anyway??

  • @silviasxdrifter

ya cuz I'd be saying how I like Oberst's music if I was a nickelback fan. Douche.

  • Great Jam....stop the hate. these laws are based on bigotry and should never exist. Soundstrike support from TN!!

  • I don't care about your political views or anything else, but this song is fantastic

  • This song is amazingly beautiful. <3

  • Thank you for posting this. You are officially my favorite YouTuber.

  • I too have lost mad respect for Oberst because of his stance on SB1070. I don't understand why you would encourage others to boycott a state when you have no clue what the law actually means. Not to mention all the money these bands are losing by skipping over a pretty musically diverse state that sells out lots of shows. Come to think of it, we don't really want your douche bag ass in AZ Conor so stay the fuck out and keep convincing others to follow your ignorant political views

  • @dearlordbabyjesus actually conor did not get involved until the law came to nebraska.

  • @dearlordbabyjesus Oh my gosh....you've never really met someone that's have a differing opinion from yours have you?

  • @ATDIadherent

I have I just can't stand people who think its their duty to tell others their opinion when we aren't asking for their opinion, we just wanna hear their music

  • @dearlordbabyjesus I'm sorry, I'm not trying to put your opinion down or anything. Opinions are what make us different from everyone else. I know that. I personally do support the law in Arizona, but I read all 14 pages of it. So I do know what it is that I am supporting. I went to the concert just for the music. However, it seemed to me that Conor and friends were more afraid that the law would be abused and used to support racism. That is what he is trying to prevent. Abuse.

  • @ATDIadherent what you're saying is that you're aware that you're supporting racism and racial profiling and you're honestly okay with that? No human being with any compassion for other human beings supports this law. This is degrading to people with dark skin because they'll be the only ones effected by this law. Canadians living here illegally won't be effected at all. That's why this is racist and condones racial profiling. Shame on you for condoning the dehumanizing of other human beings.

  • @hildax3rawr

Not really. I'm Mexican myself. The Arizona law is actually less severe then what our constitution calls for. It's not saying that any Hispanic person can be asked to prove they are here legally. Just that if they are pulled over, or arrested and asked to present ID (which everyone must do), the police now have a way to deal with illegals. Do you show ID when using a credit card? Buying a house? Yes. The law actually demeans the ability of an officer to walk around and randomly...

  • @hildax3rawr ...ask people to prove legality. Am I scared by human abuse of power? Petrified actually! Will police officers abuse and misinterpret the law? I oppose that with all my heart. But that isn't what's written, that's the incalculable human factor that's been here since the dawn of man. I know your view on the law differs than mine, this is just my view.

P.S. Thank You for belittling me for my own opinion. You've provided me with the prime example of human compassion you spoke of.

  • @hildax3rawr If you'd actually read the law you'd know it has nothing to do with skin. Whites, blacks, chinese, martians, everyone is subject to the same procedure. Actually sb1070 is just a basic enforcement of what used to happen before the last two administrations. It's basic border security. Every civilized country does it. What people don't realize, is theres almost as many chinese as hispanics that enter this coutnry illegally south of the border. Its not about race, its about safety.

  • @dearlordbabyjesus Ever think that there are other things Conor is thinking of other than MONEY? If it was money he was so concerned about, he wouldn't be speaking out about anything. He cares about the law and he wants to take action. He obviously is willing to risk the fact that people like you are going to dislike him for it. If you lose respect for someone for having an opinion, then you're more of the douche bag.

  • @neoninagirl

I wasn't talking about Oberst making money, reread my post dumbass, I was referring to the other bands and the venues that lose money. I don't lose respect for him because of his opinion or that he has one, but that he thinks its his duty to tell everyone else what he thinks. Shut the fuck up and play the great music you make, that's why we like you in the first place.

  • @dearlordbabyjesus I agree. I love Oberst's music and think he is one of the most gifted songwriters of all time but I can't fucking stand his annoying ass extremely liberal political views. I also live in AZ and believe SB1070 is necessary. There's no way boycotting a state as big as AZ will work and I think most people already forgot about it.

  • what kind of camera is did u use to record this?

  • @lillyandalex I used a Canon Vixia HF200

  • This sounds like Don Mclean's American Pie. The concert was awesome but Desa was way too loud.

  • cry moar, Conor.

    pokerface.

  • Historically speaking musicians/artists have been among the first to speak out or boycott to bring attention to an issue. Because music reaches so many people it has always been a way of reaching a mass audience. I admire conor and the other musicians who are willing to speak up. Why shouldn't they? The first amendment applies to everybody. Nobody says you have to listen or agree with them. Beautiful song!

  • Grow up SoniSteezy

  • I often lose a lot of respect for Conor through his political outlooks. And this is just the situation. I'm an artist myself, and musician's need to stop encouraging poeple to go against, or for things just becuase they don't understand it. It gives kids a lead in the direction of controlled thought and Conor is encouraging it.

  • @SoniSteezy

way to patronise the listener of yours or anyone else's music. be confident that other people can have their own responses and opinions to the music, just as you do.

  • @SoniSteezy Agreed.

  • Thanks so much for uploading btw!

  • Incredibly beautiful song <3 I'm in love with the lyrics and Conor's emotion/voice <3
