  • She sings beautifully

  • Listen to pretender.

  • I'm portuguese and she's lovely. Maybe texan, she can mess with one's references alright.

  • Wow Sarah, calm down. You're too excited.

  • I like the sadness in her voice.

  • That's my art teachers daughters!!!!

  • CVS...

  • Tree Hill :)

  • She is just different, not in an arrogant way...just being herself. Pure emotion. Love it!

  • thumbs up if you had her mother as your junior high art teacher :)

  • clEMOntine

  • She sounds absolutely amazing, especially for live. I wish she had a little more life to her performance, but lovely song!

  • @hannianni Totally agree!!! :)

  • great song. she's got such a pompous aire about her though. that's the problem. if she lost that, she'd be a great performer.

  • @reptilicus975 lol 2 comments within a month, someone sounds butthurt.

  • @mametz I AM butthurt! lol

  • @reptilicus975 I like her pompousness. Maybe it's a Texas thing. ::shrug::

  • @mistaspot1 nah. it's her knowing she's good....and acting like it. she shoudl take a page from Brad Delp...nicest guy in rock n roll. you can be nice and still be talented. all i'm sayin....

  • @mistaspot1 I never got a Texas vibe...

  • @superflyenglishvegan Do you really know what a Texas vibe is, though?

  • @mistaspot1 It's like redneckish, old school. Women have pink collar jobs, or wear too much makeup, have a Texas accent. Think the death penalty is right, believe in religion and if they dont they're minority. I hate that kind of Texas.

  • @mistaspot1 Stereotypes! Ahaha that's hilarious! You think because I have "English" in my name I'm from England? No, I've lived in Denton, Harlingen, Electra, Corpus Christi, Wichita Falls, born in Lubbock. I was just speaking of my experience. I'm sure there's great things in cities like Austin where my bf's from, but I just haven't seen them. I feel there's always pressure to follow a "Texas standard" if you know what I mean, especially when I see a cowboy. Just my take.

  • @superflyenglishvegan I don't think it's unreasonable to assume you're English by your name. Just sayin'.

I was born and raised in Austin. Sarah Jaffe is in the mold of a lot of great Texas liberal musicians; Stevie Ray Vaughan, Patty Griffin, Lyle Lovett, Alejandro Escovedo, The Toadies. You have to be able to look deeper than superficial elements of their sound. If you do, you can hear the Texas in their music. If I meet someone, I can usually tell if they're from here.

  • $2 Tip... Really ? I know its 20% but still, hook it up Sarah Jaffe

  • even though her face is motionless, it's still really moving.

  • What mic is that she's singing threw????

  • i love this song...

  • After hearing this, I hate I missed her at the David Bazan show.

  • she's such a bitch in person. but....she's good. can't deny that. she's good.

  • Haven't been interested in a new artist in a long time. Hope she makes it. She has been getting tons of airtime in Austin. Hoping to catch the July show. Love her voice.

  • smile please

  • Her passion is amazing.

  • omg ive been obsessed with her voice and her songs after she came and played at our school.

  • Just saw her in Spokane, gotta say she's even better in person. A lot of live concerts suck but she was amazing.

  • shit i cant stop listening to this

  • Oh one tree hill.. you've done it again <3 x

  • amazing...

  • Look at the begining on her right sock. It's torn.....I think

  • how hot is this !!!!!

  • like her song and her voice!!!!

  • theres this moment at like 1:00 where the pink tights girl throws in a little harmony and the guitar player looks over at her like "what the hell are you doing?"

    i love that part.

  • @caesarorside Yeah, he looks pretty serious through the whole song. "Who sings this song? Sarah! Keep it that way violin girl!".

  • Thanks for the lyrics, bulutbey 98

  • in the end, maybe all that's left is just to love everybody all the time

  • Saw her at SXSW...i think she's simply exquisite. :)

  • SHE GOT THE BIGGEST HOLE IN HER STOCKING!! : D lol

  • She has ghosts in her music.

  • meh

  • I've read a lot of interpretations of this song's lyrics. I don't know if this is the correct interpretation but my favourite (that I've encountered thus far) is that Clementine is the girl who someone ran off with and the singer wants to be Clementine. I know it's nobody's business but the songwriter's but I would LOVE to hear Sarah explaining the meaning. Awesome song no matter if we completely understand the lyrics or not!

  • @Rogermiler Check out the dc9 blog at the Dallas observer on her comments about the official video, she drops a few hints.

  • @zippidog Cheers for the heads up Zippi! What's your interpretation?

  • i love this song an her!!!

  • Genius!

  • My love for this song increased tenfold after watching the girl in pink tights strum the violin.

  • I wish she showed a little of the emotion that is behind her music... I love her music, and I think she has a lot of talent, but she seems a little "removed" in her performances.

  • OMG! i am shocked. She sounds the same live as she does in the video.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!! HER VOICE IS INCREDIBLE!

  • she's gorgeous and so is her voice

but her facial expression never change

    it's odd

    but i love her anyway

  • @NeverScreamGoodbye it's the jaffe face

  • I'm crazy about her.

  • I love her!

  • Well, that settles it. I'm driving to Denton.

  • Chords?

  • She is an absolute goddess. Seen her live twice. Pure talent.

  • I remember seeing her as an opening act last year. This song is so beautiful.

  • This is proof that you don't need fancy synthesizers to have a beautiful voice...

  • I think the dark prince watched this....

  • @JonasVoigt bullshit crazy christians. good music, enjoy

  • she has such a different way of music! its different and I am in love with this music! such a great artist!!

  • beautiful ...

  • definitely agree with Hall2799 she is an ARTist

  • I want her to' perform live in my country!

  • I have listened to music all my life and this woman has something that i have rarely heard. her music touches the very depths of the soul. there is a sadness yet it is uplifting at the same time. this is real music. you cant find this on everyday radio because its real. its art and life .

  • maybe you want to listen to sarah jaffe in an awesome acoustic solo version ... listen to "sarah jaffe clementine (gutterth podcast)".

should be in the right column.

  • I wish I had her talent . . . and I'm her uncle!!!

  • Very Alanis Morrissestte, yet orignal sound

I like her a lot and randomly heard this song on serious radio at work.

  • speaking for me. Just beautiful. Gosh.

  • Fantastic song. Reaches parts most other songs fail to reach. :)

  • One of my favorite songs

  • i wish i knew the chords. what a brilliant song!

  • I love her but she could animate her face a little more. Looks like she's too lazy to form words

  • she's the bee's knees

  • Female Johnny Cash for sure

  • soft voice

  • I really like her :) She's good.

  • i need this song so bad!! I want to see her in concert!

  • she's AMAZING live.. just saw her show last night at the loft in dallas. if you get the chance seriously go to one of her shows!!

  • my friend had introduced me to this song.. about a month ago and ever since then i've fell in love with it. Beautiful song.

  • An excellent sound, sung with exquisite talent. I will be fallowing her closely from now on. Great tune.

  • Cool. Is she playing a custom jumbo?

  • I've seen her at a small concert in Brooklyn last week. Only about 20 people in the audience but she was amazing.

  • Almost half way through the year, and still my favourite singer-songwriter recording of the year. A small, mostly meaningless, internet-comment-section thank you, for making an album worth loving, Ms Jaffe.

  • My name is clementine!!!

  • wow. she rules the day! can't wait to see her live!

  • does anyone know where i can get the chords for this song?

  • @batlover100 They're pretty straight forward. Mostly G and C with a capo on the 3rd fret. Just watch her hands in the video.

  • Brilliant.

  • what a wonderful song ! thanks
