this is paragliding (you are the pilot and decide where you go), parasailing is when you are towed by a boat (you are a passenger and the person in the boat is in controle)

There is a sequal near the end of Season 7 with a paraglider's parachute that falls on a moving gondola cable.

The gondola cable broke the paraglider's fall.

Yes it did. After she unhooked herself, the guy climbed the crane released it. It would not have been hard, since it was only hanging by a thin piece of material.
