it's shows true innocence if a child can get deep joy out of something as simple as chocolate. this scene always touches me deeply because the little boy's smile has a power that can bring even the hardest soldier to his knees. beautiful scene..and a lesson worth remembering
Why hadn't his father given him chocolate before? Holland wasn't that rustic or anything, and the family could even afford to have an air shelter? This scene is silly.
@Vetrox your a tard lol you really think that while they were being oppressed by the germens that they would have an abundnt supply of chocolate? and i dunno if that would of been a air raid shelter, it was probly just a basement but when the bombs would start falling it would be a make shift air raid shelter. this is one of the most amazing parts of the series its not silly bro
Whoever dislikes this video obviously hates little kids, chocolate, happiness, hope or perhaps just giving kid's chocolate. Let's hope no one dislikes this moment! So far there are no dislikes so let's keep it that way! Remember those kids in poor countries who have never tasted chocolate but even in desperate times they find a source of delight when a soldier gives them some!
I would happily give away all the chocolate I ever got to needy kids who have never tasted it just to see that face!
This makes me think about the millions of kids that have never tasted chocolate too. My deepest will is to someday reach out to these kids - even if it is to give them a piece of chocolate.
If I was the soldier I would be like: Right Hitler you sick bell end fuck where are you? I'm gonna slit your throat. What a fucking dick that Nazi pig was.
This is really touching. I remember my grandmother talking about eating chocolate and smoking her first sigaret (she was 18 in 1945) with Canadian soldiers .
@lissie9824 Soldier's name is David Webster. I forget the name of the actor but if you look up Webster on imdb or even wiki, you'll find the actor's name.
this if my fav scene, it makes me cry so much... it just shows how in vast amounts of war and chaos, little bits of happiness and joy are always there
Morgan freeman should've overdubbed his voice..... "The boy has never tasted chocolate." Just perfect for his voice. BTW SUCH AN INSPIRATIONAL SCENE. Made me weep like the dutch boy.
Also, can you imagine being a dutch in that war like that father and chid, and then some american soldiers came along, they woud be like angels, your heroes there to fight for you.
Just saw this scene on the Spike broadcast and wanted to watch it again to catch all the subtleties, so thanks for posting. So poignant yet understated, with gorgeous music that fits the scene perfectly. Definitely one of the most memorable moments in the series...
its touching isn't it? it made me cry... the smile on his face gave the guys hope, i think. reminded them what it was that they were fighting for. something worthwhile

It's not too unlikelyelely that a kid that age had some chocolate before the german occupation of western Europe.

TxTairrinTxT 1 year ago
@TxTairrinTxT ill tel you something
somewhere between 1942 and 1944 german U-Boats got in the delta of a river leading to Toronto and managed to sink a few cargo ships.
So actually Canada did got attacked by the germ Kriegsmarine.
btw watch History Channel you can learn something from it
