  • Michael Kamen RIP. Thank you for a legendary soundtrack

  • ja zoiets

  • That is the cutest thing ever u c his face when he comes up then when he eats the choclet his face lights up so cute

  • weet niet

  • wat zegt hij nou in het begin?

  • i am dutch this is a good scene

  • the other side of war.

  • I just about exploded at the cuteness of that scene.

  • It's not too unlikelyelely that a kid that age had some chocolate before the german occupation of western Europe.

  • Positive note: Aww, cute.

Negative note: Great, now he's gonna start wanting more chocolate. Where are they gonna get chocolate in WW2 Europe?

  • Made me emotional

  • very cute made me sad but I want that bar cause it was huge

  • I would REALLY like to try that WWII chocolate!

  • This is one of my favorite scenes. :)

  • Beautiful scene! Putting a smile on a child's face = priceless. But I have to say that was one big bar of chocolate, lol.

  • @c44LuWanda thats how they made it back in the old days right?, when the economy is still strong

  • That always gives me a great feeling in front of my little siblings when I give them something that they will always like.

  • it's shows true innocence if a child can get deep joy out of something as simple as chocolate. this scene always touches me deeply because the little boy's smile has a power that can bring even the hardest soldier to his knees. beautiful scene..and a lesson worth remembering

  • Why hadn't his father given him chocolate before? Holland wasn't that rustic or anything, and the family could even afford to have an air shelter? This scene is silly.

  • @Vetrox your a tard lol you really think that while they were being oppressed by the germens that they would have an abundnt supply of chocolate? and i dunno if that would of been a air raid shelter, it was probly just a basement but when the bombs would start falling it would be a make shift air raid shelter. this is one of the most amazing parts of the series its not silly bro

  • @Vetrox the nazis stole the sugar for their troops, so chocolate couldnt be made. and you realize this series is a true story dont you?

  • Damn it! I always get wet eyes when watching that scene! :'-(

  • @Higherly *comfort* :-)

  • @Higherly me too C':

  • Whoever dislikes this video obviously hates little kids, chocolate, happiness, hope or perhaps just giving kid's chocolate. Let's hope no one dislikes this moment! So far there are no dislikes so let's keep it that way! Remember those kids in poor countries who have never tasted chocolate but even in desperate times they find a source of delight when a soldier gives them some!

I would happily give away all the chocolate I ever got to needy kids who have never tasted it just to see that face!

  • I thought he was gonna give the little kid a cigarette.

  • @ghostadventurers98 ME TOO

  • This makes me think about the millions of kids that have never tasted chocolate too. My deepest will is to someday reach out to these kids - even if it is to give them a piece of chocolate.

  • this scene brings tears to my eyes every time I've seen it and I've watched this series all the way through around 50 times since 2001...

  • its so cute an lovely

  • This always makes me cry. -_-

  • i love the scene, just look at the kid's expression when he gets the chocolate, it's like a little sunshine piercing through the darkness

  • when I first saw this scene it brought tears to my eyes and they were streaming

  • best scene ever

  • No matter how many times I see this, it will always makes me cry. One of the most touching scenes I've ever seen.

  • haha, you guys can't understand what they're saying in Dutch :P

  • @Diedje007 or so you think.

  • If I was the soldier I would be like: Right Hitler you sick bell end fuck where are you? I'm gonna slit your throat. What a fucking dick that Nazi pig was.

  • makes me wanna have a dutch kid.

  • A little deed with huge impact.

  • This is really touching. I remember my grandmother talking about eating chocolate and smoking her first sigaret (she was 18 in 1945) with Canadian soldiers .

  • this scene made me hungry

  • @bowarrful Good i have some chocolate in my room.

  • This scene warms my heart. I know this is off topic but was Canada the only allied country that didnt get attacked in ww2?

  • @TxTairrinTxT ill tel you something

somewhere between 1942 and 1944 german U-Boats got in the delta of a river leading to Toronto and managed to sink a few cargo ships.

So actually Canada did got attacked by the germ Kriegsmarine.

btw watch History Channel you can learn something from it

  • Morgan freeman should've overdubbed his voice..... "The boy has never tasted chocolate." Just perfect for his voice. BTW SUCH AN INSPIRATIONAL SCENE. Made me weep like the dutch boy.

  • Also, can you imagine being a dutch in that war like that father and chid, and then some american soldiers came along, they woud be like angels, your heroes there to fight for you.

  • My favorite scene in the series because it's so inspiring, it gives you a sense of meaning, for what they were fighting for.

  • Just saw this scene on the Spike broadcast and wanted to watch it again to catch all the subtleties, so thanks for posting. So poignant yet understated, with gorgeous music that fits the scene perfectly. Definitely one of the most memorable moments in the series...

  • This is an amazing scene, on a side note: That is a HUGE chocolate bar! Makes me crave some hersheys right now -_-

  • @liltimmy92 Those were D rations made by Hershey's specifically for the soldiers. They actually didn't taste that great.

  • @xsuki000 yeah, they were just for blood pressure purposes right?

  • I'm in the Military, but I'm not afraid to admit that I cried when I watched that. It's why we do what we do.

  • now a days people in the u.s. hates their own brave soldiers fighting for freedom for all

    its sad...

  • I'm just glad to know I'm not the only one who thought this scene was beautiful

  • There's only very few movies I've cried in...this part of the series was definitely the most impacting scene on me
