As I've said before, when all boiled down: collectively we are infected with an ever more concentrated collection of memes. It is because most people have not been awakened to this concept that society is designed by it's memes and not the other way around. There is a natural process of evolution happening in collective consciousness, our minds are the environment and our beliefs and practices are the species competing for resources. All Sociology emerges from this simple rule.

Good points. I fall in the trap of saying they because I'm using the common terminology, using the language of the people I'm talking to, but I'm also guilty of thinking this way. We (usually) mindlessly support the system, and it, in turn, absolves us of the sins we commit in its preservation. I will try to be better - feel free to call me on it when I slip up.
