  • Too clever to be successful. LMAO at the end bit xD

  • After watching again after several months I still LOVE this video to pieces. I could even do without the film aspects and just concentrate on the band footage. The singer with those bangs and those glasses and that voice... simply yummy.

  • my philosophy lecturer brought me here.

  • i love this, thought it would be a lot different.

  • Lulu's still the Queen of this classic tune but this is an AWESOME version!! :)

  • I simply love this song, I seen the movie with Sidney Porter, and looked and looked for the movie, still have not found it, but great song.

  • @sjk5151 Try search again with the proper spelling...Sidney Portier

  • I don't know if the band actually reads these comments but I wish they did so that they can realize how PERFECT this cover is!! The lead singer is so yummy, the arrangement so dreamy.. everything is perfect!

  • nice arrangement. i still think i like al green's version best.

  • Never heard this cover until now. Fantastic. This is so different from Lulu's that one can't, nor should one, compare the two. Lulu's version is quintesential pop, and stands as a classic. The "Sinatra's" have brought a completely different feel to the song. This version has a "dream state" quality to it, which is wonderfully haunting, yet, still clearly conveys the intent of the tune and lyric., The arrangement, instrumentation, and excecution are wonderful. Loved it. As for Glee - LMAO!!

  • @twowaystreet101 well done. Perfect description of the haunting quality of this version of To Sir With Love.

  • They do a great job to the song......But the original by Lulu is still the BEST. Hats off to the boys!!!

  • Beautiful lush arrangement of this song.

  • IF NO AUDIO - right underneath the video, switch the setting from 360p to 240p and it should work

  • In this video they are like the coolest, sexiest, most fab wedding band ever.

  • Even after looking at the movie version and another version by Lulu I still love this cover.

  • Can someone repost this to where the audio woks ? This version of the song

is just too cool absolutely the best !!

  • @tundraization add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL to get the audio/video to work. i don't know why this happens.

  • @tundraization Yah this is a great version. The guy can really sing.

  • This is the absolute best version of 'to sir with love'... what happened to the audio???

  • @ideetjes add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL to get the audio/video to work. i don't know why this happens.

  • Thanks for providing the key to playing the vid!! I totally LOVE this.. it is so dreamy and a wonderful version of the song! I just want to to melt and swim in it.

  • belle chanson, belle voix très belle intérpretation!!!!!

  • add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL to get the audio/video to work. i don't know why this happens.

  • OH NO!!!!! What happened to the video!!?? I LOVED THIS SONG!!!!! HHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!

  • @catwalkaj add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL to get the audio/video to work. i don't know why this happens.

  • @jdimaria That Freaks me out, Man, YEAH!

  • That was amazing :-)

  • I found this video a couple of weeks ago like so many others and I can't stop watching it. I think this is probably the best cover of the original. At first I didn't realize it was from 1996 and felt sad it wasn't current because that meant this band didn't rise from obscurity even as it knocked as a debut single. I think it might be because, however dreamy the lead singer is in this video, his voice is beautiful but not strong and their lyrics in other songs are far from mainstream.

  • @davtej I'm glad you said "dreamy" because that is how I always described this video.. it is just so groovy an dreamy and wonderful. And this from someone who totally LOVES the original!!

  • glee version is better than this

  • Comment removed

  • @drgctube Unless you're aged 12, it really isnt. So stop talking pish.

  • @SpaceBhoy1888 im not 12 and i dont need to be... you are the one who have to stop talking...

the glee version is better than this... and if you dont like my words... sorry for you.

  • Better than the Glee version. Thanks to Glee for reminding me I used to have this album on tape though... Great!

  • Ignore the video, and just close your eyes. This is a masterpiece, but it's your mind that makes it that way :)

  • Who wouldn't LOVE this version?? It is just so dreamy and wonderful.. it always makes me feel good.

  • What a GREAT version - I love this song!

  • If u like this band, I recommend you check out a band from the same era called Kevin McDermott Orchestra, also from Scotland. Also criminally overlooked in the music business. Their debut album "Mother Nature's Kitchen" still one of my fave albums of all time.

  • Watched this for first time 3 months ago - and again today. That is a GREAT performance all around, vocals and band and arrangement.

  • Amazing.

  • I love this more and more.. so very dreamy and wonderful! I want EVERYONE to love it too!

  • the best version ever!!!!!!!!! why does the u.k. have all the best bands, we suffer greatlu inthe states with all uor american idol bullshit, there seems no unique talent that gets exposed here. cheers brits, scots, welch irish. we love your music!

  • @motowntom1 Dude, American Idol is a spinoff of the British program Pop Idol, the original pop star search show. I'm not defending it or anything because it generates a lot of one hit wonder singers and bands, just saying that awful music goes both ways.

  • Kick ass cover...

  • Love love love this... so dreamy.

  • I didn't know that Anyone had ever covered this song- it's so Identified with Lulu - but I quite like this take on it - smooth, etheral and a the guy has really beautiful vocals.

  • if you like his vocals you should check out his sister Eddi Reader she also has a fab voice! x

  • 0:54!!

    LOOK AT HIS EYES! LMAO!

  • Simply Beautiful !

Yes, he done the Best job on this song

    other that Lulu.

    Quite Original.

    God, Bless him.

    Teri

  • great artitic music wow!!!!

  • FINALLY, A SINGER WHO CAN ACTUALLY SING - FINALLY, SOMEONE NOT TRYING TO SOUND LIKE LULU. THIS GUY IS ORIGINAL- IMPRESSIVE . Unfortunately, I can't relax hearing a guy sing To "SIR" with "LOVE". lol - That reminds me way too much of George Michael and his ilk.

  • PERFECT:BEAUTIFUL

  • Muy buena versión!!! Nunca la había escuchado interpretada por un hombre, y me gustó mucho cómo suena.

    Gracias por subirla!!

    Saludos desde México.

    María

PS: If you need translation, please tell me.

  • They have done a great job on a classic song.

It has a haunting tone to it

  • this is hilarious! 0:54 ha! ...no Lulu here!

I saw them in San Francisco last night and their songs from 2009's IN THE MUSIC are incredible!

    Welcome Back and good luck!!!!!!

  • this is actually a brilliant cover. it reminds me os the smiths.

  • Why not? Not as good as the original, but pretty damn good.

  • a lullaby, who knew?

  • my comment was for watergirl 2000. I do not think the trash can singers are lame. NO HATERS...I will strike you with a lame lightning bolt. ..

  • Always loved this song and this is a fine cover of the original...

  • I want one of those microphones..( I am a singer...so I need it. lol)

  • still love this track,it makes my hair stand on end even now,

  • - This version is beautiful, but romantic and appropiate to pay homage to the actors and the movie itself.

    - A versão é linda, mais romântica e apropriada para se fazer um "tributo" ao filme e seus atores.

    Oscar Henrique (São Paulo/Brasil)

  • The way to know if a group's time has past is by how their music sounds today. I still have the Sinatras in heavy rotation on my iPod. I'd snap up any new releases by them, and certainly would love a chance to see them live here in California. Everyone I expose to their music loves them. They have too many great songs to be forgotten. GIVE US A NEW ALBUM!!!!

  • I just discovered this group. ( confession..I am lame) LOVE them..I agree. GIVE US A NEW ALBUM..OR CD..OR whatever is the Kewl way to say RECORDING....

  • Lol, komodikarma, can I sit next to you on the "lame bench"?! This is the first song of theirs I've heard and I love them already.

    My kind of sound. yay

  • sorry about the typo in your name...

  • ..In fact I am thinking of starting a new 13 step program..Lamers UN.Anonymous.. 1.admit your are lame 2) be proud of it 3) the only higher power is how smart assery you can be, 4) be lame. 5) be more lame 6) Lame again 7) ditto laming 8) like trash can singers..And Oscar the grouch is kewl too. 9) don't forget to be lame 10) wear lame clothes 11) spend time with other lamers 12) have a lame sponsor 13) Sit on the bench next to lame people. Signing up is easy. Just be lame.
  • Lol... Komodiakarma - this is by far the funniest and most interesting reply I have ever seen on youtube. Thank you. You have a career in comedy just waiting on you.

  • Love it! Dammit boys, can't wait to hear the follow up LP to Weightlifting. Keep at it!

  • I remember seeing the movie with my grandmother in the 1960's in New York. I never thought any band or singer could touch Lulu's version, which brought me to tears. This is a great cover...really good stuff.

  • This is worth watching and worth LISTENING to. A superb new approach to Lulu's old hit from the 60's with a slight touch of homo-eroticism flavour added. It WORKS, and I can only say: WELL DONE, LADS!

    -Z-

  • gooo.... what sad and nice is the song, they captured all the eescence of the version original ...congratulations....it is a great interpretation...!!!

  • These people really never took themselves seriously, and that's irresistible. But am I the only one thinking this song is tedious?

  • I think you are,sorry

  • que bizcoooo 55!

  • puuta, que bueno, que bueno. Siempre pense que era una cancion para ser cantada por una chica!!!, Oh my god, what a good performance!! I allways thougt this was a sog to be performed by a girl, like lulu o vicky sue robinson!! Wenisimo!!!!!

  • this is is very pleasing...

  • What an incredible voice. Never heard of them before - never heard them either - but dam, great voice and band. Nice stuff.

  • I freaking love this song! Paul Livingston is soooooo dreamy!

    love, Courtenay

  • You're really queer. This is an amazing cover of an amazing song. Well done, boys.

  • What a beautiful and haunting version. I can not wait for the new album to come out!

  • 55 seconds, nice brief crosseye moment from Frank!

  • perfect pop, dare i say its better than lulu

  • I know this song from days gone by,but WOW i've never heard it sung like this, so very seductive, I LOVE IT. Thank you so very much jdimaria for posting all these beautiful videos now i want more than just my "cake".

  • A versão é linda, mais romântica e apropriada para se fazer um "tributo" ao filme e seus atores.

    Oscar Henrique (São Paulo/BR)

  • wow wanta voice, great cover but i prefered the andy willians one.

  • This band was so overlooked. I love this version, and "Cake" probably had as much influence on me personally as Paul Weller's first solo albumn, and Van Morrison's "No Guru, No Method, No Teacher."

  • good version

  • Cake is in my TOP 5 of all Classic Lp's Not a friend I play it for who doesn't go and get it themselves I saye this is my Fave But each Lp is a JOY - I really tried back in with CAKE to promote it on some fanzines i wrote for and wanted to help break it in America It was a HUGE hit on a few Alt. Rock stations Rick

  • excellent version.

  • I have to say I enjoyed it. I always thought only Lulu could sing this song but they did a very great job

  • Except for Lulu's original version...which IS the BEST there is!!!

  • Wow...out of all the other versions I've heard...this is the only one that has impressed me!

  • That moment when Frank crosses his eyes makes life worth living.

  • Fine wine, baby. TCS forever.

  • Moody and Magnificent.

  • are they old are they 90s whats the deal here?

  • Shitty version ! LOL ...get outta Dodge, .. they brought the sentiment that the original barely hinted at ...

  • Wow, I never heard these guys before--I am genuinely impressed . . .

  • This is possibly my favourite ever cover version!

  • Great song, great band, shitty version of the song!

  • you're welcome

  • Audie,

REM did this in concert before,I have heard......

  • I feel sooo musically stunted!! I need to get up to speed on all these groups! Thanks! I love REM's "Night Swimming" and again had NO IDEA they did a version of this song! Now I've gotta go back to cyberspace and hunt it down lol! Thanks! :)

  • So restful loved it got a great voice.

  • If y'all like this I suggest you check out the singer's sister, Eddi Reader! Two immensely talented people!!

  • Will do! :)

  • First time I've heard a guy sing this-very cool. Thanks for posting! It's amazing how many artists have covered this classic song. :)

  • omg- i kinda like the original virgian better, but its cool still

  • Few can surpass Lulu's version-hers is the best imo. Perhaps she is a sentimental favorite for many. :) I think I was 6 or 7 the first time I saw the movie "To Sir With Love" on tv one Saturday night. It remains one of my all time favorite films. :)

  • i cant bliv i manage to find this song on youtube..this rawks!!!

  • I've never seen this video!! THANKS!!! Such a beautiful piece... and could Frank Reader look any hotter?!

  • luv this! thanks!

  • This is a perfect backdrop for a Quentin Tarantino film. Quentin, are you listening????

  • What an awesome version! Still looking for Tracey Ullman's version! Maybe she'll see this and finally release a version! It was from her Tracey Ullman Show, the one with The Simpsons!

  • Is this song off of a soundtrack. I'd really like to own it.

  • the song is from the trashcan sinatras' 1996 album "a happy pocket." they made a 15 minute short film called "spooktime" to promote the album, and this video is taken from the film. the song is also on a promo cd with songs from "spooktime" and was released as a single, all are pretty hard to find.

  • A trippy version of an old favorite, but nicely done. The guy has a great voice.

  • I thought I could only love Lulu's original version of "To Sir With Love". It's nice to hear another version. This one is also great.

  • Lulu's will always be the best..

  • AWW... THIS IS B.E.A.U.T.I.FU.L
