That's interesting and true. However I did not base my perception of him being guilty only on the lie-detector alone. I know we are not supposed to "judge a book by it's cover", but I get the feeling that this guy is a cold-blooded murderer. His eyes, looks and the way he talks gives off the expression to me that he is guilty.

Take one more look at 4:50 where Steve asks this weirdo: "Did you ever touch Latisha in a sexual manner? And you answered no. And to that answer, you did not tell the truth." Can you see that expression on his face? "Oh no, I didn't". It's like suddenly the word "murderer" appeared on his forehead.
The incident had to do with him getting fired over yelling racial slurs at some little black kids while on the job. He was yelling at some black kids that were crossing the street too slow for his liking, and he was getting impatient with them so he yelled at them as he passed by. He was always an asshole, so this was just the straw that broke the camels back, not really the primary reason for his boss firing him.

They ask control questions which they know the answer too beforehand so that the answers he lies about are actual 'lies'. And in his case I doubt there is "nervousness".. hes so calm and "sure" that he didn't kill them. The lie detector wouldn't give out a false claim in such incidences. Also, a microexpression expert would also be able to tell hes lying.

They are the receptors that trigger when we make things up. The only reason they aren't accurate is because of chemicals or eating which can interfere with the way the receptors work. They are more accurate than you think.

Part of the investigation was to confront the one who was accused. Lie detectors are 98% accurate. you are probably saying that a lie detector test should not represent who he is. The polygraph reads breathing rate, pulse, blood pressure, perspiration all the symptoms shown by a nervous man. Dectector does not say LIE or TRUTH, it has to be interprited by the guy behind the machine so you can fool the detector by squeezing your asshole and releasing. If this makes your body feel weird than what do you think happens to the machine?

I think Steve wasn't even convinced with the test. He never went after the guy. That guy has a thousand yard stare that just screams he's telling the truth to me. I've failed those tests too when I volunteered as a test subject for polygraph training. Its not hard to throw those off if its not properly set up. Even veterans can botch these tests.

A co-worker at my last job was able to beat a lie detector test.
That co-worker is a racist, a liar and a real asshole.
He was definitely guilty, and admitted it to me. And he also told me he did not use any trickery to beat the test.
I think he was able to beat his test because he is a type of person that feels very strongly that his unfair and racist beliefs are justified.
Maybe he had some mental problem that allowed him to beat the test?

@MyMrMikeyS Not really. The person conducting the procedure fully knows and takes into account factors such as nervousness. They ask control questions which they know the answer too beforehand so that the answers he lies about are actual 'lies'. And in his case I doubt there is "nervousness".. hes so calm and "sure" that he didn't kill them. The lie detector wouldn't give out a false claim in such incidences. Also, a microexpression expert would also be able to tell hes lying.

The lie detector is so dam flawed, a person who is nerves can easily fail the simplest questions. Thigs like this has happened before and innocent people have died and lost their jobs because of it.
A trained person can easily pass the lie detector, Google it and you can fool the detector yourself!

Btw many people become extreamly nervous just thinking about the question, Its one thing to think about the question for yourself but its another thing to say it out loud with things strapped around you in a small room.

The test doesn't grade how nervous you are, it detects brain activity in receptors. @Trinitrotoluo Not to mention that there are receptors in the brain that trigger when the person thinks about things that HAVE happened and are recorded in the brain, and those that trigger when the person thinks about things that COULD have happened, but never actually did. They are the receptors that trigger when we make things up. The only reason they aren't accurate is because of chemicals or eating which can interfere with the way the receptors work. They are more accurate than you think.

@Trinitrotoluo I've heard that things like that have happened, and I agree with you on that, but my point is that there was an investigation of the murder case described on this episode. Part of the investigation was to confront the one who was accused. Lie detectors are 98% accurate. you are probably saying that a lie detector test should not represent who he is. However, the way Steve deals with guests who fail lie detector tests about murder or rape is with a "once bad, always bad" mentality.

Thats a perfect comparison to a polygraph machine.
The polygraph reads breathing rate, pulse, blood pressure, perspiration all the symptoms shown by a nervous man. Dectector does not say LIE or TRUTH, it has to be interprited by the guy behind the machine so you can fool the detector by squeezing your asshole and releasing. If this makes your body feel weird than what do you think happens to the machine?

I think Steve wasn't even convinced with the test. He never went after the guy. That guy has a thousand yard stare that just screams he's telling the truth to me. I've failed those tests too when I volunteered as a test subject for polygraph training. Its not hard to throw those off if its not properly set up. Even veterans can botch these tests.

@WillyyyV I know lie detectors aren't 100% accurate but Ken's story doesn't make sense. His cell phone puts him on the same road as the murder scene right at or about the time of the murder scene. He could have been on that road, waiting to make sure the killing occurred.
