I opened the reproducer on mine, and found that the gaskets were fine but the metal had warped just enough to open a gap at the diaphragm's edge. I taped crocus cloth to heavy plate glass, and flattened both body and back plate to meet perfectly. It helped the bass response, as far as I can tell.
