hey, thanks man! i really appreciate that! yea, i heard that they pushed the metal influences further as they went on, but everything i've heard by them so far - early material to later stuff - i've loved! and yea, G.B.H is awesome! colin abrahall's an amazing frontman! you should check out Warfare, they're an old NWOBHM band, but it's obvious that they were a punk band before they started playing metal. they're like a cross between venom and discharge. check 'em out!
yep, you're right about GBH and really nice lads aswell. Well aware of Warfare,Algy ward was in the Damned for a while so theres the punk connection and I think the Venom/discharge cross is a good comparison, think I saw them support Metallica in 1984 though obviously "lica" were metal gods even by then, you might want to check out Raging Speedhorn and Antisect(In Darkness album).glad to help.
i'm a headbanger, but i've been listening to hardcore and UK82 for about a year now, and i really like it! but, i've only JUST begun to listen to discharge now. anyway, i was just wondering what the second song they perform is called. it's got such a killer sound! also, if someone could point me in the right direction with these guys (albums and EPs to pickup etc...) that would be great, too!
yep,the 2nd song is called "The Nightmare Continues". Vinyl/cd wise I can recommend their first album called "Hear nothing, see nothing, say nothing" they also had a 12" ep entitled "Why?",being a headbanger you may appreciate their later stuff but they had started moving away from the harder sound by then.Their singles can be found on a couple of "Best of" cd's including "Discharge-Decontrol singles collection".Worth checking out another band G.B.H and their "city babies attacked by rats"album.
ThIS IS BULLSHIT!!! these guys tottaly ripped off the early BM sound like venom bathory darkthrone. I hope all these bands like riddin the coat tails of real musicians. I cant find any crust band that talk pro war pro death pro holocaust and lastly pro hate and until then I say these guys suck bms dick.
Well,Discharge were around in 1979(and before)and Black Metal didn't really surface until about 1983,you're entitled to your opinions but get the facts right though I will concieve that Discharge did become a poor metal band in the mid/late 80's.
Okay good to know. I'll have to look into that and find out where the sound really originated. I always appreciate hearing someone who knows there stuff. Still don't like the peace idea and it shows up in BM a lot too. UNFORTUNATELY
The trouble with back tracking is that earlier stuff is going to sound much weaker and tamer that any stuff released recently so don't know if you'll ever find what you're looking for.Try looking out for HATE SONG by RAGING SPEEDHORN,its not any kinda metal but might excite the ears.
discharge one of the best
strong clear meaning in the lyrics is what separates them from crass, partisans, the last resort, etc
