@sockmonkeyish we defently need more of miss Bergen as the classic Murphy Brown on the you tube, when they only will release the first season on DVD... I would have loved to own every bit of it !
They both did such a great job with this. I love that Murphy looks like she is using every ounce of self control to not bust out in song after she is yelled at the first time. It looks like it is absolutely killing her to hear the song and not sing along at the top of her lungs.
This was one of the funniest and most special moments on TV. Candy is a trip! At least she does this for the joke and not like some lackluster talented people out there who would dare to outsing Aretha Franklin.
That was true joy on Murphy's face...no acting there.... you can tell she was having a great time ..... and really enjoyed it...

I love this scene. Does anyone know or remember the scene
with Barry Manilow singing to Murphy. He did the song
"I Am Your Child" for Avery's first birthday party. It brings tears
to my eyes when I hear him sing it.
