It has a section revealing "good verses" and only selects a few, skipping through wonderful verses and then highlighting in red the apparent "faults". I have only found a few tolerable ones and they were borrowed from the Jewish religion. They were later abrogated by later verses of typical Muhammadan barbarism. .

But perhaps I have missed something. Please point me to the "good" verses.

Personally I find them very dull. But worse that than, they are full of threats and intolerance. They are focusing on the "disbelievers" and their punishment.

I don't see anything beautiful, I find them stupid and ugly:

@MsCrocodileTears I mean there are beautiful verses everywhere in the Quran and you dont have to look far at all. The Quran is all about balance you'll see for every threat of hell, heaven and its beauty is immediately mentioned- not to overburden or stress the mind. The Prophet is stating the truth he is saying that the Jews say that about the Christians and vice versa but it says to FORGIVE and OVERLOOK thats beauty- how many Crusaders forgave and overlook? U get my drift.

Islam is the most flexible of the Abrahamic faiths, at least in Islam Jews and Christians have a shot at heaven, in Christianity and Judaism we get no such hope.

However I have read the Bible, and big parts of Quran, too.

And I must say that much of the Bible, both the Torah (OT) and the Gospels are is very beautiful. Lot's of beautiful stories, great epics, drama, poetry. Quran on the other hand is third rate literature, very poorly written, full of repetitions, some stories are told from the middle. Almost everything is borrowed from the Jewish Bible, but poorly told. Muhammad was a lousy writer

@MsCrocodileTears First of all the Quran is a master of Arabic Literature- the writing and its style especially in its Meccan verses are amazing- no Arab denies that- even the unbelievers. You must remember it also came from an illiterate man and his rivals accused him of spirit posession and mastery of poetry. The Bibles a bore, it barely has style. Let me give u an example of the Qurans art in this one short chapter.

@MsCrocodileTears Also Muhammad wasnt a fluent writer at all, all of his communications were recited and remembered. The Bible is terrible. Boring. Story telling its like actually reading a fairy tale book- the flow is standard like that. The Qurans repetition is important in highlighting the message and its an unpredictable book. The bible has a lot more bloodshed than the Quran and underwent so many revisions.

I guess, when it comes to literature we can have different tastes.

I agree that parts of the Bible are poorly written, or plain boring. Still, there is a lot in the Bible than is worlds best literature, more beautiful, more dramatic than Shakespeare.

So to my taste Quran is third rate literature, poorly written, with no wisdom in it. With threats on every page. Muhammad is trying to make the point that he is the greatest prophet, and that those who don't agree will be tortured.

@MsCrocodileTears The reason you dislike it is because you are reading it from a Disbelievers eyes (hence your focusing on the negatives- clearly ignoring the positives) and also ask even a Christian Arab and they will agree the Quran is beautiful. Considering the book size, i consider the "beauty" of the Bible to be minor- i DO love Proverbs though! The Quran is FULL of wisdom! Seriously take off your goggles of distaste the Prophet NEVER claims he is "greatest" of Prophets.

I read big parts of Quran. It was a struggle. Very hard to read, very poorly written, extremely boring.

And as for any good the stories, they are all borrowed from the Jewish bible, but poorly told. For example the story of Adam and Eve, or Noah, or Moses and Pharaoh. When you read the story about Moses in the Bible it is breathtakingly exciting. When you read Muhammad's version of it, it is very boring, primitive, and the only point is that you must obey prophets.

@MsCrocodileTears lacking in clarity? lol. Generally that what masterpiece writing is about, it leaves the mind guessing a bit. Now you say you read "big parts" of the Quran. How much did you read? From where to where? The Story of Joseph (Yusuf) in the Quran is actually detailed and riveting. I love the Qurans story of Noah and his struggles with the disbelievers. The Quran sidelines on older prophets and uses them as examples, its main point was to re-establish monotheism.
