You're depriving a child who normally has a nap of his sleep time and so him sleeping at a later period to try and catch up on his missed nap time is normal.
Narcolepsy can be genetic, but is still a very small percentage of occurrence. Narcolepsy is something that a person has the rest of their life and doesn't "come and go."
I realize you probably threw in the narcolepsy term jokingly, but it may be good to read up on what it is, this is totally normal for a kid who's missed his normal nap.
