  • Thank you very much!

  • What is the name of this song?

  • "Remember The Name" by Fort Minor

  • what exactly is catch wrestling? I wrestle folkstyle, freestyle, and grecco...how is catch similar?

  • Picture freestyle with submissions.

  • "Accept what is useful, Reject what is useless and contribute what is uniquely your own".

    No other comments needed. PERIOD.

  • what's the name of the song?? pls..

  • "remember the name" by fort minor...

  • thanks dude :)

  • Catch Wrestling is alive and well. Love to hear more from this club. Train hard!

  • Actually, BJJ came from sambo, which came from karate, which came from who the fuck cares.

  • Actually, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu came from Judo, which came from Japanese Jiu Jitsu; Sambo came from an amalgamation of Russian folk wrestling and Judo.

  • Mitsuya Maeda (sp?) emigrated to Brazil, where he eventually passed his knowledge to one of the Gracies. Meada, I belive, considered himself a Judoka. However, Judo and Jujitsu have a lot of similarities, and Maeda even competed in Catch wrestling rules... I believe in Europe. I am sure he has learned a number of unique for all styles, leading the Gracies to improve, leading to BJJ. However, does not mean bjj is perfect. it is what you make of it, including other styles.

  • BLANK STARE

  • BJJ actually did come indirectly from catch wresling. Mitsuyo Maeda who was a Judo black belt and a specialist in newaza(ground techniques) taught the Gracies Judo. Kano the founder of Judo had sent his best men to fight American catch wrestler Ad Santel from 1914-1921 and Santel beat every one. Kano then sent men to learn catch wrestling and incorporate it into Judo. Hence, when Maeda taught the Gracies, he passed on the catch wrestling enhanced Judo.

  • could a video be put up? I have never seen this legendary style in motion.

  • in addition, arm bars is from the jiujitsu family tree- (judo, aikido). wrestling is primarily for dominating on top. jiujitsu family believes in dominace from all positions!!!! i;ve used ude garami in judo tournaments. they even came out with pankration tournaments now, another form of catch or shooto. i have never heard of texts of pankration, so where would pankration coaches come with arm bars and the guard? jiujitsu..

  • catch wrestling copied jiujitsu.. catch is wrestling stealing techniques from jiujitsu. i've never seen the guard implemented from any wrestling but jiujitsu or judo

  • Sir, CaCC is older than BJJ or Judo for that matter. Like Judo, Wrestling endured many rules changes for sport purposes. Was Kimura a judoka?Yes. Did he defeat Helio Gracie with a Ude Garami? Yes. Is a Ude Garami legal in Judo? No. Does BJJ use the Ude Garami?Yes. Does Catch have this hold in it's arsenal?.Yes. Can you perform a Double or Top wristlock in amateur wrestling? No.Rules develope styles."Accept what is useful, Reject what is useless and contribute what is uniquely your own".

  • Hey man, well jijitsu is older than Cacc. Ude garami is legal in judo. It has a modified version, and before it was introduced into the olympics, there was no modified ude garami. jiujitsu, judo and aikido are from the same origins - juijitsu. simply said, jiujitsu is older and the only grappling art that is known to have the guard. there are great catch wrestlers, such as karl gotch, josh barnett and sakuraba.

  • Then you would be OBVIOUSLY WRONG! This just goes to show how much you know about CACC. The very first position we teach is called the "Front Scissor" and I've tapped MANY bjj players of blue, purple, brown and black belt rankings in bjj with this move alone. In fact, we have the front, side, twisted, mini scissor and others. Perhaps you should study up first before speaking.

  • which black belts have you tapped? brown belts for that matter? purple? what are their names? did you tap them over and over again?

  • i've seen the front scissor and i know it's not that effective their is absolutely no way ur going to tap a black belt with it, it's effective against smaller opponents from the side and if modified to use a figure-4 it can work from the back but i don't believe u've ever tapped anyone whose been doing any grappling style for longer than a year

  • In Catch the guard called a front scissor hold, its very old and nobody stole it from anybody. BJJ IS decent from Judo and CACC wrestling, its just fact. Mitsuya Maeda was a Judo champ and spent time learning CACC wrestling.

  • true enough. the human body can only move in so many ways. exactly, i researched into ancient egyptian wrestling and they were actually the oldest submission wrestling/jiujitsu art invented. the greeks actually borrowed from egypt. black african looking dudes doing moves judo, wrestling and jiujitsu artists are doing today.

  • Oldest? Did you study Babalyon or Sumeria? They had a Grappling God/King named Gilgeamesh, submission wrestling matches where held his honor.Older then even Egypt, and there is even older still. Wrestling is locked in with Religion, oldest wrestling form? Whats the Oldest spirituality? Pankration is "all powers", pankration was another name for Zues. Jesus "wrestled" demons for 40 days & nights. Horus and Set wrestle for control of the day/night and it goes on and on. Its an interesting topic.

  • possibly, but have you studied their pictures and the forms of grappling displayed in their ancient texts? possibly not, cause there are no evidence of any, other than possible paintings on stone. the Egyptians had papyrus to write on. where is your info about this? or are you going on mythology? like i said pankration is from egypt.

  • Ok. Pankration is greek, its a greek word and its a greek event. Zues is a greek god. Wrestling is so wide and so huge and so much a part of every culture in the world that it came from everywhere, its not the "holds" its the attitudes and reasoning behind them that make them unquie to each culture. Message me if you want to talk more about this. If not, I am done posting it on forums.

  • well the book i read, was a book of pankration, but gave pictoral dipictions of moves that were from egypt.

  • well the book i read, was a book of pankration, but gave pictoral dipictions of moves that were from egypt.

  • wrestlings as old as it gets. Today, humans have natural basics of pushing and pulling. We 'test' those things at a young age meaning wrestling is the natural weapon we have to attack and defend.

imo, pankration is very similar to MMA today, except for differences in culture, battles, rules, etc.

I believe there are cave drawings of wrestling holds and moves dating back 16,000 years ago in Europe. Doesnt take long to add weapons on top to hunt for food, utilizing wrestling with it. LOL.

  • it goes even further than that. The nuba tribes in africa introduced wrestling to the egyptians. This was proven by the paintings on the papyrus.

  • catch owns bjj? Please... Train both, dolt.

  • exactly.

  • Even if bjj were a descendent from catch, which it isn't, it is obviously not the same sport anymore and therefore worthy of seperate training, no?

I'm sure Catch invented the guard, right? The probelm is you have guys who have spent at the most 2 years doing one style and they think that it is the best thing out there when every style has holes. Catch is a very limited grappling style and isn't even existent in most places in the world.

  • Students from Asia (mostly Japan) learned catch from those in Germany, Americas, and Britain and took that back to Asia. From there the large influx of Japanese immigrants to southern America brought with them their traditional forms of wrestling as well as catch.

Catch isn't anymore limited than any other form of wrestling. And includes a lot of locks and technique not normally seen in BJJ.

The real problem is the BJJ guys who think its the all inclusive end all be all.

  • "The real problem is the BJJ guys who think that its the all inclusive and end all be all". That line of thinking, I agree, is stupid, because one has to be set on evolution and constant growth. That said BJJ allows for that (at least the guys I've been around) we always bring in wrestlers and judokas to help us grow. In the end the Jiu Jitsu that I practice is the end all be all because their is no end... just constant improvement. Got something good? Show me, I wanna know it!

  • No bjj isn't a descendant of CACC. Bjj came from Kosen Judo -- no matter what anyone would LIKE to think. CACC or "hook style" descends from european, greek and icelandic styled wrestling -- most notably that of Farmer Burns. Definitely the modern father of Hook Style.

  • Actually bjj does not derive from CACC. It does, however, utilize many of our techniques though. Bjj comes from Kosen Judo -- although many would like to say otherwise. Helio created NOTHING. He studied Kosen Judo from Maeda -- PERIOD! True Jujutsu has been around since the 8th century AD. But suhada bujutsu (martial arts for civilians) has only recently emerged since the Edo period. CACC has been around from hundreds of years as well. The two aren't related though.

  • @nothingabovetheneck "If it's grappling, learn it!" - Judo Gene LeBell

  • What is this song???

  • Looks like a weak version of WWF.

  • catch wrestling owns bjj
