@belgravia85 I know there are lots of places to visit in Italy. I have spent months living there so I knowwhat you mean about not every place is run over. But for the "average" tourist who only sees Florence, ROme and Venice it will be a lot for them. I agree that they should go out and see much more because italy is beautiful from the boot to Bolzano.

@woltersworld Of course if they see Rome,Venice and Florence, it's already a lot. But you can still have places even in these cities all for yourself and not be annoyed by the bunch of tourists. It's just that most of the tourists stop at the obvious and don't make any further effort. In Rome, for example, there a very romantic place, the cimitery for the non catholic, where giants of the english literature like Shelley and Keats are buried. Few english or americans know it though!

Iti s why its my favorite city in europe. I am just telling them that knowing italian will make their trip even better (i speak some italian and it has always made my trip 100 times better, I even have like 50 learn italian videos). 2nd. I am american and i speak 6 languages so I am confused with the Americans only know english.

I speak a little Italian, I've been in your country 3 times and made the effort to speak the local language. I do that every where I go it's common courtesy. I learned Italian -studied it for two years - speak it OK, not great, but OK. Went to Italy and almost everyone responded to me in English :( I then responded back in Italian and never switched to English. But I understand that most Americans going there don't study the language. The funny part was their English was usually a lot lower level than mine. I was so happy to meet Italians that didn't speak ANY English!!!!!!

I speak some italian&my experiences in italy have been amazing. just wish some of the tourists that come could speak more italian so they could meet the people better. i live in italy and i appreciate very much your video. your so right when u say that italians do not speak english.. the true is that they speak only italian but in rome is different too because they speak "romano" (for me is hard too because i'm brazilian and when people speak in "dialetto" is really hard or impossible to undersand even if you speak italian). you forget to say one another bad thing about italy.. burocracy!! :)

@VibrationPack I speak Italian all the time when I meet Italians anywhere in the world to help them, however since basically no one outside of Italy studies Italian on a regular basis & everyone whether they are from Japan or Germany learns English, tourists will have a hard time communicating. I do not ask Italians to learn English, I am just informing the tourists going to Italy that Italians in general do not speak English that well. Therefore they should learn some Italian before they go.

@EugenioRussoSpena I agree, that is why i have all these videos on learning italian here on youtube. also tourism is your economy and it helps if you can speak with the tourists. The people in the tourist industry do speak English, however the average Italian does not speak English that well if at all. This is a fact spelled out in EU statistics. I have no problem with it as I speak Italian (note the 50 videos on learning italian on here, though I have an american accent).
