I felt sorry for Anne Hathaway during this Oscar show. She basically had to do the work of 2 people, since James Franco was so weak. It was as if he didn't even want to be there; I was thinking "Why the **** did you volunteer to do this, James?"

That aside, she has a lovely voice and would make a beautiful Fantine, but I don't like the idea of her as Elphaba... not a good fit for the second role imo.

Alfie is amazing, but I'm sure producers worried that his operatic style would put off casual moviegoers. Too bad. But I think Hugh will do a good job. I'm just annoyed that they seem to be shooting for ALL A-lists when there are so many talented stage actors who would be cast in a world without money. Les Mis is popular enough, they don't have to blind us with stars.
