@lkraie Hi! We used a standard Mini DV video camera and had it attached to an acrylic board which in turn was attached to the four poles on the RC car's chassis. Of course these days it's just easier to use an iPhone 4S or Go-Pro Hero HS Camera. =)
r c m a r t dot c o m got some models. IMO go for a Yokomo Mr4-TC SD About 2-3 years since i last used my car but damn its fun. Costs about 200$ but there is some sweet things to "tune" em up ^^
@ben10yo We didnt! What you can do is take a piece of plastic, use a rimmer and make a few holes, then thread the antenna through it and leave it underneath the body. ;)
@ben10yo Depends, when you start out, they can be around $200 for a basic model, but the higher ones can go up to $1000-$2000 depending on what you buy
Different tyres suit different terrains, at least that's what we feel. My favorite is still PVC on a fresh Tennis Court, PVC works cause it's cheaper to use as well, Tamiya Drift Tyres are good, but I guess due to the price range, some times we stick to cheaper alternatives. =)
@Endruu i know im 5 months late but i use the pvc pipe you buy from the hardware store and its working out alright i guess, would you recommend the tamiya tires over this home made method?
@fe3lgud007 Homemade's pretty good enough. If you like, you can purchase a set of Tamiya Tires, but considering their prices I'd seldom bring them out to play with and stick to cheap PVC
I've been watching your rc drift videos since 2005 and love them, you guys made me start rc drifting too. :)
Just one question, this version of Switchback isn't the one you hear in the original Celldweller's videoclip... is this a mix or a pre-out version of the song?
@jwrx7tt01 lol, I used a software called Audacity to cut and reposition the music, thus the mix is slightly different from the original Celldweller's Switchback
Yes, I am new to this. hahaha.. Sure, of course I am not known to all these. Afterall, its child's play, right ? haha. LOL, these are Tamiyas ? Dang, I remember back in the day when Tamiyas where the ones that had a disc on each corner and don't turn. Haha. Dang, those were fun to play with back then, and these should be so much better [x
How much did the cars cost and where did u get them from? wah got style sia.... im frm singapore and im interested in joining the hobby....how much will it set me back?
Hey Rico, these cars will set you back around $400 or so for a base model, you can check out sgdriftersDOTcom and go to the forum for more details if you like =)
Thx man.... when i come to permenetly live in sg.... then maybe ill cosider joiin u guys... but fr now im jus a singaporean stuck in some foreign land.... :( ok so im gonna try yoko and see.... thx for the help.... btw.... thts 400 s$ rite?
what if i wanted to go out to a track and drift? i just dont wanna invest $500 into a car... I might be driving it like 3 hours a day 4 times a week. just wanna knw if i should get something else... my budget is 300$ (american) max and the sprint 2 drift leaves me some money to still customize my car. i could get some more drift tires new body and some more shit
I want to know if you think the Sprint 2 Drift RTR from HPI is any good? Is it worth purchasing? I mean its only 200 bucks, has nice body, and seems good for the price. I want you opinion...
Honestly, a lot of RTR drift kits are good fun to play with if you just intend to do a bit of backyard trashing around. If you're a hobbyist though, u might wanna invest in a higher end model. =)
depending, a cheap one can go for about $200 usd, a good one would probably reach up to $500 or more, check with your local hobby store, they may help =)

SGD4 was made in 2004 before Youtube, I only uploaded it recently after my friends bugged me to do so. Cheers
yeh well there arent any hardwood places for me to drift so... I think I might have come up with a cool new idea that I will try this weekend. And i found that ABS was easier to find. It typically runs slightly smaller than PVC and can usually fit right over the rim... I might have to just try tuning my motor down some...
I have a place with tennis courts but they are used constantly... I run mostly in parking lots and parking garages... I can use regular tires in garages but I cant seem to find a good tire to use on the regular street... Yokomo tires dont last for me... I eat through rings really fast...
lol, yeah that's the thing. another method would be to find a smooth surface like a lacquered wooden floor and wrap the pvc tyres with velcro tape, specifically the female side of the tape, which is the softer "hairy" side of the tape
Dude your videos are always so sick. I lvoe the sg drifters series... I watch them all the time. I just have to ask how yall keep so much speed running pvc and abs tires though... Im running an LRP sphere and reedy neo one 4.0t motor and my car is just way too fast for those tires... Honeslty cheap "grip" tires can almost work fro drifting for me... but yall all run abs and stuff still right?
Ha, glad you enjoy the videos. nah we run ABS and PVC tyres. The only problem is we have to do it on certain surfaces, so places like tennis courts where the texture is rough yet even, it makes for good traction, hence they move really fast.
we dun have races all the time, but our current place of meet is at Ulu Pandan Community Centre on Tuesdays at 7:30pm onwards. u can find out mroe at the main webby =)
Hi andrew. U look like a guy, who knows something about Rc drifting. My friend has a pretty good car, he likes driftin, but he dont know, which tires will be the best. two years ago it wa easy to choose, but know you have so many types.
hey! sorry for the late reply. We custom cut our own pvc tyres from the hardware store and fit them around the rims of the car instead of using regular rubber tyres. u can bring a rim to the hardware store and see i u can find pvc pipes that fit, cut them to size and slot them in =)
wow, it really depends. Cheaper models can go around $200 USD while better ones like some of the cars in the video can go for about $600USD with everything included(batteries, charger, controller etc) =)
Lol, glad to see more ppl into RC Drifting. u mean the greyish course in SG4? It's actually a Kyosho MiniZ Racing track. If i remember correctly, they use gray carpeting and just white pipes to line the track. As for the NP-SP drift challenge, we used cut tyres as markers. =)
depends on where you're from. If you're in Singapore, one might cost from $300 to $800 depending on the brand and setup of the car. =) These are pretty expensive cause their hobby cars, not exactly within the to range, thus they come at a premium. But if you're into such things and have a lot of time for it, their worth every penny =)
So where do you guys buy the Yokomo Drift Kits? I've been trying to get them for quite a while now. Do they sell at the small RC shop in East Coast Park? Thanks.
hey, no man, we carry it though, u need to contact the sgdrifters forum or look for "Dabomb" or "Zhihao" or "Alex" on the forum to get help in buying one set. =)
honestly? trial and error. lol! We did a few takes, some times the car gets it, but I miss the shot, some times I get the shot, but the car doesn't complete the run. nothing's perfect, but we try our best to ensure it comes out good on video =)
lol thanks =) There was a period of time where we drifted VERY often and we normally play on tight tracks so some of the guys pick it up really fast. Ofcourse, dun always trust what u see, like any video, this one has its bloopers and retakes as well. but thanks for the compliments!
where are u from? if you're from Singapore, u can check out the sgdrifter's website forum and maybe get help in acquiring one, if not, u can try towerhobbies webside and buy a yokomo, tamiya or hpi drift car there. =)
I'm glad someone uploaded this video on YouTube. I can't remember the site I used to go to where this video was located (.AVI) But, I love it. Strangely, seeing it again made me crave a sequel to the crazy RC racing game, Re-Volt. Let's put drifting into an RC racing game! ^.^
lol, glad you enjoy the video. If you want to, u can send me ur email address and i'll try to yousendit to you a clearer copy of it =) It was in Mpg btw, but i think i can reconvert the original copy to a clearer version =) just lemme know.
Ha, nope, this is the 4th, if u look at 00:34 of the video you'd see a glimpse of the past 3 videos...the third is under my archive but I didnt bother to upload the first two cause if u type it on youtube u'd prolly see it somewhere floating around this site =)
Hm, I doubt so, it's been a long time since I've been there cause BK's track is reserved for grip drivers and not drifters so i doubt he has those stuff to provide u. Regarding rims not fitting in, what we do is we take sand paper, or just rub ur rim against the road to wear it down a lil so that the pvc tyre can fit in better. That's how we did it when we first started cheers!
HM, yep Taising sells HPI tyres, their pretty good but rather pricey, that's why most of us stick to PVC cause its a lot cheaper. In fact I think there are quite a lot of drift groups in Singapore who organise parking lot drift meets, u can check it out, just log on to the sgdrifters forum and maybe u can find one near your place =)
Ha, so I've heard. Yeah that's good to know. But for now I'm broke, cant afford HPI tires, got tonnes of PVC ones so I'm sticking to PVC, still many places to play esp with Zhirong's load of "on site DIY tracks"...lol. Thanks for the heads up by the way =)
OOPS, accidentally pressed enter, to finish off my sentence. BK's Place(Queenstown circuit)? And at Taising, do they have like ready made drift wheels cos I tried putting in the rims into the tyre and its so hard.
fuk man crazi vid....what cars are used? d-box? i got some pvc tyres on ma nitro car man not that easy to control....i got a hpi rx7 looks ok with its frontmount cooler lol side mirrors and rear exhaust tip...
Ha we use electric motors, most of us run Yokomo Drift Kits. I think Gas cars have a lot of torque so u gotta control it properly but i've seen videos of it, so it's possible, check out the videos and listen to the rev of the motor to know when those gas drifters are pulling the trigger on their car to know how they control their drifts =)
You need to get the right size, the right one will fit snugly and will not fall off. If not, u can use vinyl tape to wrap around the rims to prevent them from falling off
Hm.....not that i know of, even local grip racing also doesnt have money, they have prizes though, plus the thrill of racing can be quite fun at times. =)
We used to when we first started out in 2003. But grip drivers werent very fond of drifters leaving pvc dust on their tracks, so we figured it's best we moved out of the place. We do have drift sessions all around Singapore though. Check out the forum at sgdrifters website to find out which places we drift at. =)
Actually you can try checking out Youtube, sometimes they got video lessons on how to use these things, i know they got a video lesson for final cut pro...lol.
I would love to know what on board camera you used and how you attached it to the chassis. Nice work

go with the sprint 2
it's a good car to start with
go on ebay after that and order "Sushi Drift Tires" they're precut and rounded ABS plastic and will fit right on the rim.
though going to home depot or somethin is cheaper because you can get 10feet of 2 inch diameter PVC or ABS for like 10 bucks...
anyways, good luck drifting. just practice.

brand is tamiya right?
rachel230 3 years ago
nope, most of the cars u see here are Yokomo Drift Kits
Endruu 3 years ago
how much one car about?
rachel230 3 years ago
depends on where you're from. If you're in Singapore, one might cost from $300 to $800 depending on the brand and setup of the car. =) These are pretty expensive cause their hobby cars, not exactly within the to range, thus they come at a premium. But if you're into such things and have a lot of time for it, their worth every penny =)
Endruu 3 years ago
So where do you guys buy the Yokomo Drift Kits? I've been trying to get them for quite a while now. Do they sell at the small RC shop in East Coast Park? Thanks.
mmutasim2 3 years ago
hey, no man, we carry it though, u need to contact the sgdrifters forum or look for "Dabomb" or "Zhihao" or "Alex" on the forum to get help in buying one set. =)
Endruu 3 years ago
Oh,I see. Thanks, man. I'm definitely going to get it!

i noticed that out of all the vids u have really good camera control and sometimes u follow the cars for a long period of time how do u do that?????
Shadowrunner454 3 years ago
honestly? trial and error. lol! We did a few takes, some times the car gets it, but I miss the shot, some times I get the shot, but the car doesn't complete the run. nothing's perfect, but we try our best to ensure it comes out good on video =)
Endruu 3 years ago
thats maddness u guys drift so well
how long did it take to get so good?
nic vid
masterkdrifter 3 years ago
lol thanks =) There was a period of time where we drifted VERY often and we normally play on tight tracks so some of the guys pick it up really fast. Ofcourse, dun always trust what u see, like any video, this one has its bloopers and retakes as well. but thanks for the compliments!
Endruu 3 years ago

I'm glad someone uploaded this video on YouTube. I can't remember the site I used to go to where this video was located (.AVI) But, I love it. Strangely, seeing it again made me crave a sequel to the crazy RC racing game, Re-Volt. Let's put drifting into an RC racing game! ^.^
knuxthefox 3 years ago
lol, glad you enjoy the video.

Endruu 3 years ago
Hm, I doubt so, it's been a long time since I've been there cause BK's track is reserved for grip drivers and not drifters so i doubt he has those stuff to provide u. Regarding rims not fitting in, what we do is we take sand paper, or just rub ur rim against the road to wear it down a lil so that the pvc tyre can fit in better. That's how we did it when we first started cheers!
Endruu 3 years ago
NVM, got some ready made tyres at Taising. And btw ur allowed to drift at BK'S place but u caqn't use PVC Tyres cos they leave PVC dust behind.
poandpee1 3 years ago
HM, yep Taising sells HPI tyres, their pretty good but rather pricey, that's why most of us stick to PVC cause its a lot cheaper. In fact I think there are quite a lot of drift groups in Singapore who organise parking lot drift meets, u can check it out, just log on to the sgdrifters forum and maybe u can find one near your place =)
Endruu 3 years ago
Hi Endruu!! Erm you can still drift in BK but strictly Drift Tires only ... no ABS or PVC.
RaVeMaSterVaN 3 years ago
Ha, so I've heard. Yeah that's good to know. But for now I'm broke, cant afford HPI tires, got tonnes of PVC ones so I'm sticking to PVC, still many places to play esp with Zhirong's load of "on site DIY tracks"...lol. Thanks for the heads up by the way =)
Endruu 3 years ago
OOPS, accidentally pressed enter, to finish off my sentence. BK's Place(Queenstown circuit)? And at Taising, do they have like ready made drift wheels cos I tried putting in the rims into the tyre and its so hard.
poandpee1 3 years ago
Do u guyssometimes go to BK's place(Queenstown
poandpee1 3 years ago
ABS is the battery or tyre?
boboi95 4 years ago
That's the tyre sorry, lol
Endruu 4 years ago
wat type of batteries n tyres do u use??
boboi95 4 years ago
lol we use PVC Tyres and RC Batteries 7.2V side by side or stick packs.
You can also use ABS if you'd like
Endruu 4 years ago
fuk man crazi vid....what cars are used? d-box? i got some pvc tyres on ma nitro car man not that easy to control....i got a hpi rx7 looks ok with its frontmount cooler lol side mirrors and rear exhaust tip...
diino1 4 years ago
Ha we use electric motors, most of us run Yokomo Drift Kits. I think Gas cars have a lot of torque so u gotta control it properly but i've seen videos of it, so it's possible, check out the videos and listen to the rev of the motor to know when those gas drifters are pulling the trigger on their car to know how they control their drifts =)

thanx 4 answearing my questins ^^ u are really the pros
Tobiwankenobi18 4 years ago
but how do yu fix thm that they dont slip off the tire??
Tobiwankenobi18 4 years ago
You need to get the right size, the right one will fit snugly and will not fall off. If not, u can use vinyl tape to wrap around the rims to prevent them from falling off
Endruu 4 years ago
what for tires do you use ? you r the best cheaters on earth ^^
Tobiwankenobi18 4 years ago
I'm guessing that's babelfish talk. Haha. We use PVC pipes cut to size and fit them around the tyre rims to drift =)
Endruu 4 years ago
Or ABS piping

would we be able to get money if we start racing, or is it just for the hell of it?
nicholaxxx 4 years ago
Hm.....not that i know of, even local grip racing also doesnt have money, they have prizes though, plus the thrill of racing can be quite fun at times. =)
Endruu 4 years ago
dang, sounds fun, but i would rather earn my money back, TY
nicholaxxx 4 years ago
do u guys go to BK's track?
iloveleh 4 years ago
We used to when we first started out in 2003. But grip drivers werent very fond of drifters leaving pvc dust on their tracks, so we figured it's best we moved out of the place. We do have drift sessions all around Singapore though. Check out the forum at sgdrifters website to find out which places we drift at. =)
Endruu 4 years ago
cool!! for a moment back there i tot i was looking at a real car drifting.. haha.. good job btw =D
