Nice! The 1D bodies are great. The 1D1 is still a great camera despite its age. I got my 1D3 and its so much better than the Canon 7D I also have. Its well worth the investment if you are serious about digital photography even as a hobby :)
you need to hold the menu or select buttom when ever you need to use the thumb wheel on the 1D MK I bodies, I have both 1D & 1Ds MK I bodies that;s how I know, but good luck getting a good 1D body.
I wonder if Adorama will simply put it up back for sale minus informing of the inherent problems or fix the problems and then reselling it at obviously a higher price.
dang. i was all excited for you! sounds much better than dealing with eBay though.
the only 2nd hand camera i'd like would be a full frame 5D.
but in reality, that's a way off. i was playing with the 7D again in a few stores today. now that's what i'm saving for. on a side note, the tiny GF1 is amazing! i'd seriously consider one of those as my pocket cam.
i am getting a 7D, but i also think full frame is worth it for the effective DOF and wider primes available. there is NO 24mm f/1.4 equivalent for crop sensors. If you want wide lenses and shallow DOF (which i love) a full 35mm sensor is the only option.
even a fast normal POV lens is tricky to find for crop cameras. basically the sigma 30mm 1.4, which i own one of, is the only option.
i thud rather buy a 1d mark 3 now... SUUUPER CHEAP!!!

thanks man. i was excited too. it is MUCH better than dealing with ebay.
a 5D is something i've considered. like i said thought i like the body of the 1D series so i might get a 1Ds but that is a way off like you said.
hopefully the next camera will work!
