When you overtake the TBO you can upgrade to the 503. Italian makers such as Simonini and others are delivering on the market more modern and cheaper good engines, by the way. Compliments for your machine, Im still wondering which basic aircraft is fitting my flying habits. Im bit scared of the all-wooden constructions, due to the maintenance they request. Greetings
@pockrock2 ???? Definitely not more maintenance on wood aircraft; repair is a lot easier than you imagine; a good modern covering is ok for 25 years or more...and when time has come to make a new covering, there are new modern products like ORATEX... and there are so many amateur-experimental builders to help you , that its easy to get help.
About engine, when my 462 is overtime, 503 would be a good idea; but I'm dreaming of a 25 or 30hp 4 stroke ...
I use a 2 stroke Rotax 462 (oldie but goldie), with power downrated to 35 hp, ( german version of the engine) hyper-silent in flight ; veeeery reliable, simple and easy to maintain ; easy starting once you know it; bad thing is that rotax has stopped the production, even for spare parts.
On wooden construction, this is your personal opinion....
Thanks and happy lngds.
