  • 1:38 sounds like the Pickwick Video logo.

  • There was another event...did they ever use Amiga or Commodore or whatever? One time I could swear that that was what they had on their computers...oh, well...

  • @v10lini5t19921993 im pretty sure they used amiga.

  • I can relax with DMX

Even my 60 year old dad listens to DMX

    IS IT UP IN HERE?

  • january 7th is my birthday!

  • Prevue Guide We are what's on

  • Ah, Prevue Guide.

  • Yes! Now I finally have the Prevue Guide soundtrack! Heh.

  • The Box :D it was the predecessor to mtv2

  • lol when tv guide listings was a mac :D

  • Hehe, poor Prevue.

  • epic

  • Oh My Gosh, you rock jmkord.I have looked everywhere for The early 90s Prevue Guide ID,with the explosion. Thanks! The woosh noise at the end of that ID,always freaked

  • Prevue was the best. All your local listings with comfortable music. Now we got some bastards talking about celebs and all this other B.S. (If you know what I mean)

  • THAT IS SO TRUE

  • Yeah I think Prevue Guide/channel died in 98,when they started adding the interviews. Then one year later, Tv Guide sealed the coffin.

  • @SuperSonicTailsEas There is no such thing as comfortable music anymore. nowadays everyone loves to scream "MODERN and NEWS and FAMOUS PEOPLE" in your face - whither you want it or not.

  • @kargaroc386

Today, TV Guide Network's definition of "comfortable music" is the equivalent of trying to convert the video data of the first episode of Mobile Suit Gundam into audio data and combine it with the works of Japanese noise musician Merzbow and set it all to the music video for Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy".

  • I remember when"Broken Guide" LOL. I do mis this channel though. Too bad TV Guide bought out Prevue Networks. I have seen the way it looks now and it's not good. I have some Prevue Guide stuff on tape but I dont know how to post it on a computer.

  • I should really read my stuff before posting. I made no sense in that last comment. I just remember when "Broken Guide"..LOL used to break down.

  • Why?

  • Was this on C-band?

  • This music was featured on Prevue Tonight Segment.

  • What's the name of the song? I liked it.

  • I was wondering with synthesizer was used in these songs. It was a great feeling and a pleasure to hear synth tunes like these in the 1990s. Too bad there's no CD or no more Prevue.

  • it was a .mod file because they take up little space, and that was important in the days of small hard drives.

  • Wow cool. Thanks for telling me. =)

  • it said Jan O7.

  • thursday january 7th, 1993 not 2007

  • that logo of prevue guide was at space in 1988 after the explosion before the logo shines with the announcer saying "prevue guide...just what you're looking for."

  • Does the smaller cable companys still use that version for the TV Guide Channel? The Preview Channel was renamed to what's now the TV Guide in 1999. By the way, is the program grid is made by the same company like the WeatherSTAR used on The Weather Channel to display the local forcast?

  • I've often read somewhere it was an Amiga computer that was used for the grid, with the video running from an LD player or some device.

  • Wow! I heard when The Weather Channel's WeatherSTAR 4000 came out in 1990, I heard it was once powered by an Amiga Computer (along with the Prevue Guide's program grid). I think there's a possible link between the TV Guide Channel and The Weather Channel. In this case, I would call the program grid a "ProgramSTAR". (STAR stands for Satellite Transponder Addreddable Receiver.)

  • no it wasnt. the weatherstars are proprietary hardware made by the meather channel

  • You mispelled "Weather" you know.

  • oh! i just noticed. i guess that's the knid of typo you make at 3 in the morning

  • Ha, cool memories for us tech-heads. Ol' Transponder 03, with all the superstations on it. Piffed me off big time when KTVT dropped from availability, all those Texas Rangers games lost.

  • I don't really like ringtones, but there should be a ringtone with this kind of music.

  • Interesting. I always hated when that happened back then. This was roughly 6 months before they ditched these graphics (at least in my cable system).

  • Yeah, I agree. But at some point, I still think it was entertaining when ever it crashed down. I even liked the old graffics back then too (even though it's low tech and could only display color borders and would show only one listing at a time -- instead of 1 1/2 hour range as it is since the launch of the blue grid later that year).

  • I first discovered Prevue Guide back in 1991, around the same time Nicktoons premiered on Nickelodeon, and it was magical. I could just tune into this channel, and see what was on TV. Now with the Internet, there's no need to tune into this channel.

Oh my god, I never thought I'd hear this music again.

  • Nor did I. The synths remind me of "Keep It Dark" and "Abacab" from Genesis. Nice throwback and combination of early 80s sounds with a 90s style.

  • Near the end, "Is that live or is that Memorex?" And this was in 1993? There was a Worth1000 contest about Bad Advertisement Sponsors recently, and Ashlee Simpson was spoofed in a Memorex commercial on it. (Worth1000.com)

  • The double screen gaffe was a common problem we've all seen on this channel often. I still don't know how these were shown (laser disc?), but often one screen would be isolated while the other side would show the detailed infomation of what it was and where to watch it from (the audio would be of the screen that's showing the promo).

  • Cool! I like the music!

  • I really love this video and the other Prevue Guide videos you posted. If you have any earlier ones from say the late 1980s to early 1990s, could you please upload them? I would love to see them.

  • I remember this layout! The earliest my cable company had Prevue Channel was around 1988 when this was the original layout I think. It changed sometime in '92 or so that featured the blue backgrounds (possibly a computer upgrade or such was in place).
