I am puzzled by the negative comments. I have felt since I first heard the WSQ in the early '80s that they were the best and most innovative jazz group since the death of Coltrane. I'm more familiar with their recordings back when Julius Hemphill was with them, which has been many years now, and had the thrill of seeing them many times during those years.
I like this a lot too, but agree with thulitwo. These guys are so good they don't need a rhythm section, they have each other. It's kind of the beauty of the WSQ.
Jimi would be proud...
