  • In Denmark we cook up a nice pot of soup where the broth is made from a chicken carcas. the soup is often made with small meat balls and flour (yes flour) balls, and lots of veggies like, carrots, leeks, selleri and stuff like that.

    But the best comfort food for me, when it's winter, is my hubby's mom's tomato soup :D

    So hearty and perfect for a cold winter day :D

  • HI Jay !!!! during the winter i often asl my mom to prepare a very simply meal called "Joue de boeuf" in fact it is the cheek of beef, cooked with carrots , macaronis ( or pasta) in a sauce ... the Meat is "jelly" not fat and not hard .... next time I will ask Mom to make one and i will take picts !!!! Regards from France !!!!!

  • Stamppot rouwe andijvie met spekjes, wich basically is smashed potatoes(cooked) and endive (raw) mixed together with small strips of bacon (1 inch by a quarter inch Iguess?). Preparing the bacon strips I usually let them fry in their own fat and add viniger when they change colour and wait until they get chrispy before mashing all the ingredients together.

  • OMG!!!! I was just craving for Corned Beef sinigang the other day when I tasted it years ago in Sentro. Awesome recipe, Jay! Now I know how to prepare this new favorite dish of mine. What's my favorite winter comfort food??? Hmmm... That's a hard one since I'm living in a tropical country. Hehehe. Thumbs Up, Jay! :-)

    This is also my favorite along with mung beans, any kind of thick and healthy soups, I love putting purple yams into the oven and eating them while they're hot. Ohhh I almost forgot. I love my Korean food in the winter!!! SO GOOD!!!

  • @MissWakalaka oh i see. 'coz potatoes is for "NILAGA". this is the first time i saw it on sinigang.

  • @gilboypogi because when I was a kid, you couldn't get taro where we lived, so we used what we had.

    My comfort foods don't really change with the seasons so instead here is one of my corned beef favorites - cubed corned beef, potatoes, carrots, rutabaga, cabbage, and onion simmered in beef broth for a couple/few hours and served with a good crusty bread...
