I always wanted a version of Framing Armageddon and Crucible of Man packaged together with both Owens and Barlow, one singing all the human parts, and the other taking the Setian parts. Unfortunately this will probably remain my fantasy.
guys, we dont listen matt in this music on the studios..... but live he is better rippers..... owens really have notes so hig than matt, but he dont use this in live!!!! "like a martyr's sacrifice" and "we are the bane of man" are two epics scream so hig!!! but he dont makes............. matt make!!!! dyng but make!!!!
tim ripper owens sing this song like if he were singing a fucking ballad you see he is calmed instead of barlow that his face looks like if he were singing the highest voice song hehe
Boy, I'm prepared to get some shit for this, but I think I should mention this. As a guy who's new to Iced Earth, I've been looking through to see live versions of this song. I listened to Barlow do this live and then immediately to this one with Ripper. I liked Barlow better. Of course, it's extremely impressive no matter who's doing it, I just thought that Barlow sounded better.
@Metalcortaku Barlow's version sounds better to me too, because of the growl and deep voices Barlow can sing, and Barlow's voice is much much deeper and I think that suits Iced Earth's style much better. I would not enter the debate which is more talented singer out of them two, but I think Barlow is just the true voice of Iced Earth... emotions he brings into songs are just what Iced Earth needs to be on top of the game... without Barlow they sound "ordinary"...
@RaveEpic shit, rippers best work is on framing armageddon, this song and the framing armageddon song, how he sings ffffraaa mmmiinng aaarrrr mmmmaaa ggggeee ddddooonnn, thats the best shit too ever flow from him, which mite be the best fuckin thing ever recorded!!!! ripper is legend!!!!
although i prefer Barlow, i dont think that the Ripper should have left, they both have great voices and as the EP I Walk Alone taught us they sound awsome together.
@vellron well.. yeah but Schaffer owns all of the Iced Earth stuff lol but hell, Iced Earth couldn't have been Iced earth with out the singers they've had! Have you heard Stu Block yet? I can't wait to see him live! Guy's a complete BEAST!!

Barlow's voice is the thing that rises Iced Earth above "ordinary" bands like Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, Hammerfall, Edguy, etc...
jsosic3 6 months ago
@jsosic3 you call blind guardian ordinary?? hansi kürsch is the best fucking singer ever! barlow can not compete with him!
NiggeliNG 5 months ago 2
@jsosic3 you have obviously no clue about what makes a band sound special, it's surely not the lead vocalist alone...
none of these bands you list up here is ordinary, each of them has it's unique sound, thanks to the great musicians who keep that music alive.
if everyone would think the way you do, we would have some pretty pop bands, but surely NO awesome bands like iced earth

Ripper doesn't have the stage presence that Barlow has.
warriorfan84 2 years ago 2
I don't know why, but Ripper sounds like he's out of breath a lot of time here.
Ripper was beastly on Glorious Burden, but I felt his voice lacked on Framing Armageddon.
Either way, Ripper is the shit.

@RaveEpic well you can try to challenge him to an 2-hour concert and see how many times you will be out of breath!
