  • My only gripe: you say "so on and so forth" wayyyyyy too much.

  • You are an excellent teacher and advocate for Reaper. Thanks.

  • I've been messing around with REAPER for a couple days now, and I can not figure out how to drag audio files into the program. I know that is such a completely stupid issue to be having, but no matter what I convert the files to, I get an error. Any help?

  • Can you record acoustic with this?

  • @Sephiroth78941

Yes! It's great - as good as you sound card.

  • yo everyone honest answers does ANYBODY know where to download a free or trail program to make beats im an artist and i woud really like to create my own beats for music and im sure alot of people will but i dont want to take any risks downloading fake virus crap inbox me if any info thanks my niggas

  • @OneBasedGod You can use fruity loops fl, its a free trial just google frooty loops, its hte program soulja boy used to produce ''crank dat''

  • Great video. I use reaper myself and it's a powerful program which is quite simple to learn compared to many other daws. , and best of all: it's cheap!

  • Definitely trying this out now! THANKS!

  • does reaper work with mac os x lion ? if it does , wich one do i hav eto install ?

    OS X 32-bit

    9.5MB

    OS X 10.4-10.7

    OS X 10.5-10.7

    beta

  • @eslopphaufn You have to check their website..

  • wait reaper is always fully functional? cause mine tells me theres 30 days in the evaluation period? what happens after these. can someone just give me a little info?

  • does no one know how to hook up a midi usb piano and make it work with reaper at all??

  • I bought Reaper last year and its replaced Nuendo in my audio production. I still use Nuendo for film score as Reaper is not set up for to do that, you can do it but its not smooth and they need to address this now as they've raised the price significantly. But for the average recording musician who is 99% of the folks using DAW's at this level there's nothing better its awesome.. minimal memory burn, low CPU usage, unlimited tracks instruments etcetcetcetc..

  • i know my english is bad

  • how you take some songs to remix in the mixer?

  • what specifically is superior in reaper?

  • ABLETON LIVE 4EWA!!

  • Good tutorial. Thanks!

  • Nice tut but basshead aint workin for me :L

  • I am new to all of this stuff. I recently received mixcraft 5. I think it works very well. Since I'm new to this I will probably stick with mixcraft for now. It suits my needs. When I become more experienced in all of this stuff I may upgrade but mixcraft works perfectly for me.

  • Hi, I'm new to DAWS and music production in general. Prior to getting Reaper, I've been using cubase and reason and am finding Reaper a little difficult to work with. Does Reaper have a wide selection of virtual instruments like reason and cubase do? Because I can't seem to find a whole lot of them. In fact, I only see three open in the Instruments section of "add a virtual instrument to the new track" section.

Could this be something to do with my preferences? Help is appreciated.

  • Hello, i have a possibly stupid question.

I have no knowledge of reaper whatsoever.

I can get no output. The mixer is showing there is input. And i can even record, but i just cant hear it. I tried to figur it out with the audio/midi controller and i set my input on built-in input and output on built-in output. But it doesnt work.

I also have a external soundcard, and then i have the same problem.

Input there is, just no output. Any thoughts?

  • @02334200

Maybe the option "Monitor Input" is off at the track you are playing/recording. Turn it on.

  • Great tutorial! Thanks!

  • Thanks for the tutorial! Helped a lot.

  • i need help! i have reaper and cake walk. with both i can not hear a playback unless i un-plug my guitar. so i can record something but for the next track i cant hear what i played. mt computer makes no sound as long as my guitar is plugged in

  • Thanks man, really helpful tute! Great program too... how good is gearslutz for hearing about stuff!

  • mamon no agas videos que no sean en todos los idiomas

  • can any1 tell me how to import midi into the piano roll in reaper, like in fl studio i can pull up Ezdrummer, and drag and drum MIDI i exported thru GP5 how do i accomplish that with Reaper

  • this is probably a downsy question, but how did you get the track select thing to show up on the bottom? mines black and the menus are way too long for my attention span

  • @ajnardo nvm im dumb and figured it out

  • Got a question.... I try to record myself playing guitar in Reaper, but it sounds really muddy and 'white-noisy'. I'm using a small usb behringer box uca202 (ucontrol). I don't know whetehr its my guitar, Reaper (or wrong Reaper settings), or the behringer box. I played with Reaper settings but it still sounded muddy and very vibrative. Please help.

  • your fan is so loud, I can hear your computer.

  • @nedak damn pentium D`s!!!Hot and loud,,but fast LOL!

  • This was not really useful to me - I needed a beginner tutorial. Entitling this as intro really does not help someone new to this type of software. You keep referring to how it compares to other recording software, which is not really helpful for a beginner.

  • i havent ever worked withthis kin of software before. i got it from my step dad so i coul record and lay out guitar and drum tracks and record them. do you have any tips to help me get started with reaper?

  • thank you!

  • can you like record and add auto tune and effects?

  • so reaper is basically for mixing tracks, actual playing like in fl studio cant be done?

  • @Eaze2009 you can make songs in it i have to do it for schoo land i have done it before and my song was previewed on the radio

  • @mullet559 so how do u put instruments in it?

  • @Eaze2009 im gonna be uploading a video later about it when i get my new headset

  • @mullet559 awesome thanks.. SUBBED

  • @Eaze2009 right i have uploaded now just go to my channel and it will be there thanks for subscribing aswell :)

  • @realjuvelive Just to be clear, are you asking how to pirate a program that has a free and unlimited trial, and offers a full license for $50?

  • @RogetMusic yes how to get it for free!?

  • @realjuvelive Dude, the demo version is the full version. You can download it from the site, you can use it as long as you want for free. But.... Out of the goodness of your heart, you should pay for it if you like it. It's very cheap.

  • @RogetMusic

That doesn't sound ridiculous to me.

  • @RogetMusic some people are so fucking stupid.

  • @RogetMusic it costs $225 now

  • @RogetMusic Is it a ONE time fee or does it have to be renewed every year ect...???

  • @RogetMusic If the trial is unlimited and everything works then what's the point of the ''50'' buxxx?

  • @princeicio Basically to support the creators of the DAW.

  • @realjuvelive it is free... Just download it and wait through trial sign for 5 seconds.

  • @realjuvelive Is it really that difficult to wait ten second and click "Still Evaluating"?

  • @realjuvelive lrn 2 google retard

  • @realjuvelive Why would you want to? Cockos has some great policies, a license only costs 50 bucks for non-commercial use. And, there's no point cracking it, the trial is unlimited and the functionality is as well.

  • since you answered can you tell me exactly how do I save the project on reaper as wav or mp3 or whatever

in fact when create a new project I save it on the desktop and I get sooooo many icons ....

  • @princeicio Don't know what you're doing when you make a project. To save as an MP3 or anything else hit File>Render or hit Control + Alt + R and then in the window that comes up there will be a dropdown box next to the words "output format" click it and select your format. You can save it as anything here. MP3, WAV, Flac, APE, AIFF, etc. When you select MP3 it will give you the option for bitrate etc. Then just hit render and you're done. Hope this helps.

  • @Songwriter4God Well thanks but this doesn't work I wanna save it as ''windows media player file'' NOT ''reaper file'' if you know tell me please!

  • @princeicio -.- As I said, go into the file menu, then hit render, then select your file type. DO NOT hit "save" or "save as" or anything (Not sure if those options arei n Reaper, don't feel like opening it right now and I haven't done anything serious with it yet myself.) instead hit "RENDER" as this will export it as an audio file such as an mp3 or WAV. If you can't figure it out again, PLEASE Google it, you're obviously hitting the wrong button. It's wicked easy. Google it.

  • So the parenting aspect is pretty much Grouping?

  • @ansionnachcliste Yep! Parent a track and it'll inherit volume, pan, and FX.

  • Reaper is great for beginners that need to work with garbage before they decide to step up their game.

  • nice toturial..check my newTracks ;)

  • My PC is soooooooooooooooo slow... i didn't know what i have to do to allow recording

  • Theres an echo in the mic, how do I get rid of that sound and and make it sound clear?

  • @MrTransendent7 the sound is coming out of your speakers and back into the mic again by the sound of it. An easy fix is to use headphones instead of speakers.

  • the tracks setup could get soooo confusing

  • argh still dont know how to program stuff into it as i cant record stuff due to not having instruments!!! lol also being solo and wanting to write.program ebm music amkes things a lil more difficult! help?!

  • Just after this video, I'm already feeling a lot more comfortable with the program. I agree, it is so much faster that most programs. I'm coming from Garageband, so I'm kind of wowed by it all. Considering Garageband is the only music app I'm familiar with, Reaper is very foreign to me. On to the next few videos!

  • can reaper even open wav files or do they only dish them out D:

  • sweet thanxxx 4 making this tutuorial...

  • thanks for the tutorial, the details, the comparisons, so and so forth

  • so on and so forth

  • so on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forthso on and so forth SHUT THE FUCK UP

  • @deckarx lol

  • im new to this and i have no idea what so ever with music editing. to just play around, i put a song from my itunes in, and it sounded like shit, like lots of static and stuff, did i do something wrong?

  • Lol. If you accidentally move something, theres always the Ctrl + Z

  • does anyone know where i can find tutorial on how to create drum and bass on Reaper

  • Excellent tutorial! What mic did you use to record this? (It's very bassy - much fuller than my cheap headset.)

  • Does anyone know if theres a keygen to this software?

  • Hey, have you guys seen the new Windows 7 powered StudioBLADE keyboard workstation? Its perfect for running Reaper and all of your Windows compatable plug-ins! Click the link below to see the videos!

  • The best thing that's happened to me in a while was losing my iLok for ProTools when I went back to my hometown for vacation. I decided to try REAPER as a result, and its faster, easier, more versatile, and has higher quality FX included with it. Also, nice videos. Very useful.

  • Also, no more stupid iLok to keep track of!

  • Great Video. I currently use Cubase 5 with VST system link, does reaper have a network feature to let you sync a Mac and PC. When doing orch tracks I often need multiple computers.

  • @ZkeysMusic Yep! That's what the ReaStream plugin is for :-)

  • Hi, a quick question. I want a DAW for a two year old laptop. amd turion 2 ghzz, 3 gb ram, 250 gb hd. I want a DAW that will be fast and efficient for this system. Is reaper the fastest DAW out there?

  • @letsphilosophize Reaper has extremely low overhead and runs super efficiently. For example, the time it takes to d/l and install the program from the first click on the website to your first new track is generally less than one minute. It can even be run off of a USB thumbstick, and it handles VSTs faster and more efficiently than anything I've ever seen.

    I'd say it's a perfect choice for machines that don't have super-high specs. :-)

  • That's pretty cool you are a video game composer. Is that a really difficult career to do well in? Zelda, Baldur's Gate 2, and Morrowind are my fav themes :)

  • I just downloaded it and I can't hear anything? What's wrong? I created something with the keyboard. Also, does the download version come with any samples, or do I have to download them seperate?

  • Dude you have a really upbeat voice plus this is a nice little intro to Reaper! Cheers.

  • how you make beats in this program??

  • Any chance you can increase your mouse pointer size and colour? You move across the screen quite fast. Even on full screen it's hard to follow and on full screen I can't run the tutorial alongside the running program

  • i dont have that option next to the mixer cant get to get the music playing from my midi

  • hey! i bought the non comercial licence and it gave me a key but how the hell do i use the key when i put it in the inport licence it dont work?

  • hey! i bought the non comercial licence and it gave me a key but how the hell do i use the key when i put it in the inport licence it dont work?

  • REAPER is awsome!! I love to use it for recording vocals and guitar and rewire it to reason for the rest :)

    I love its simplicity

  • Thank you very much for this vid! It's a great introduction to Reaper for people who have worked with DAW's before. Unlike most video tutorial's its really quick and practical, without going into all kinds of non-important details.

  • Reason and FL 9 kills this twice

  • why can't i record sounds, when click on recorde there comes ^¨¨can¨'t record--no tracks armed for recording*** help

  • @foxxybrown100 just click the ar button

  • I actually thought Reaper was a program to actually MAKE beats

  • thiz program and it got some great FX's and other shit

  • what is a send and a bus?

  • @assortedgoods

You don't have to care about that when using Reaper apparently :)

  • can I have more than one different DAW installed in the same PC? isn't there any problem if I do so?

  • @cochi256 Shouldn't be any issue really, though you may not want to try running two DAWs at the same time; that can cause soundcard exclusivity conflicts.

(That said, in some instances you can run or host separate DAWs within another DAW using Rewire, which is a whole other discussion)

  • @wroget thanks for the reply, 'cause I have a demo of Reaper but I also own a cd of Cubase so I wanted to have both installed, just in case xD

  • @cochi256 I have reaper, cubase, and audacity all on the same pc with no issues. Its got 2 gigs of ram and a pentium d,,just use one at a time.

  • Completely unintuitive. Not like any musical environment. If you come from working in a real studio environment, it's like you've never done anything before. Can't waste my time with it. Doubt very seriously I could ever work faster here than in PT...

  • I have always been fascinated with creating my own music ( I like house, trance, techno, and dubstep) How easy is it to learn this software? This would be my first time with any of this kind of software lol.

  • Hi: Just wanted ti ask how are your buffer settings, since it affects latency. Thanks for all your tutoials. Great Stuff.

  • @publicidadeRTV That's actually a very good question and the answer is, "it varies". When I'm recording MIDI tracks I set it fairly low, like 256 samples or so, so that I get a good response - this helps me perform better on whatever instrument I'm using. When all that is finished and I'm just mixing though, I like to set it much higher (1024, sometimes more) so that I never have to worry about plugin glitching or stuttering.

  • Reaper is too complicated.

    Sobs.

  • @Jellybeantiger It's really not - once you understand that any track can be MIDI/Audio/Buss and that an instrument is an effect (FX), it's pretty simple. So much faster than Logic or Cubase, and it allows me to be more creative (fewer boundaries.)

  • What is the best program for a dumb person like me?

Most tutorials are way too hard.

I saw in the Reaper forums, some people have draw tools and I have NOT A CLUE how to do that?

Depressing and I want to buy the full license but I can't work all the functions out like having draw tools etc on the toolbar and the other extension addons.

The world is now made for maths students not MUSICIANS!

  • @Jellybeantiger there is an owners manual

  • @Jellybeantiger You just need patience, have confidence you can get it naturally after playing with it for a few weeks.

  • @Jellybeantiger Best DAW for a dummy would be audacity...thats how I started,,and if you goto my channel and click on the aerosmith toys in the attic cover,,thats 100%audacity,,very good 32bit quality for a freebe.

  • awesome stuff, thanks!

  • alguem sabe como encontra url dos videos pois nao tem como fazer download dos videos mim ajudem

  • alguem sabe como encontra url dos videos pois nao tem como fazer download dos videos mim ajudem

  • Im @RogetMusic, but if you anyone wants learn everything the pros already know , GET PRO TOOLS... It has alot more features than Reaper hands down. I use to use Sonar and Cubase, but with protools I have learn to AUX tracks in a way that it helps your FX chains sound better. Also the elastic properties with protools are the greatest, and if any of you guys work with loops then you know what i mean. I admit tho, LOGIC is a beast but I think that its a bit overwhelming for beginners

  • oh...sorry...I thought the spandex pants comment was a public post...I see now...just a private email to me....oops....well....nothing a good old fashioned Baptism can't wash away! ;-)

  • And thanks to both you guys - glad you like the tutorials! I really just did them b/c there weren't any others yet that catered to an already-experienced audience, and so I wanted to help give users of other DAWs a chance to try out Reaper.

If you're curious, I work fulltime as an in-house video game composer. (And part-time as a sample developer, and part-time as a film composer :-))

  • @RogetMusic With your skills, you could be very persuasive on any topic about which you cared.

  • @firelightchurch Incidentally, my next set of tutorials will be on "How to wear leather spandex to work and get away with it" :-)

  • @RogetMusic Hey....Firelight's right....you ARE persuasive! I mean....I'm a complete grinch...and yet laughed out loud and spilled a glass of Chateau Rothchild 1964....so complete acquiescence can't be far behind!

  • This is absolutely great. Your teaching approach it totally different and it's more accessible. I can see that Reaper is extremely fast. I think I may leave Sonar alone for awhile and check you out.

    Once again, thanks.

  • And one last little observation - in Cubase - to render - you just make a selection and hit the P key....it puts markers around whatever is selected, ie. fast mixdowns. Is there a similar feature in Reaper? But my biggest need is to move from even edge to event edge, on whichever track is active, or also on tracks above or below...so that one can quickly audition all the little bits of a project....Cubase shines in this...but I use Reaper when I don't have my usb ilok/dongle retard thingy

  • @8noteflight Couple questions going on here. For starters, you can bind selection to a clip by holding ctrl and doubleclicking the clip. Similarly, you can set the left edge (start point) of the selection with the { key, and right edge (end) with }. This is useful b/c when you click the edge of a clip, the cursor snaps to there.

For fast mix of the selected area, make your selection and ctrl+alt+R, then choose "Render Time Selection".

  • Okay...I owe you FIVE BUCKS!!!! Your ctrl_double click is MONEY. Thank you!!!! I've asked around a while for that function. My cursor doesn't snap no matter what I do around the edges...but that may be a preference I've made re: cursor seeking. Your teaching rhythm is simply gifted - soothing...but fast. Reaper should pay you. You are, for instance, much better than the SoundToys Video Teacher guy with the spiked hair. What is your career choice?

  • @8noteflight Ah I see you meant keyboard cursor; I was talking about the mouse. Closest keyboard convenience Reaper has is tab-to-transient: Select some clip and just keep pressing tab or shift+tab to move to the next/previous transient. You'll eventually hit the beginning/end of the clip, so try just holding it down. Not quite what you want, but, it kinda works :-)

  • The reason i love your tutorial is it's the fastest most efficient expenditure of time for quick learners!!!! Most tutorials test the patience. Very well done!!!! I learned more in 5 min from you than 10 other bloated videos - thank you!!

  • @8noteflight Thanks for the kind words! All the best,

    - Will

  • It's like Mixcraft on crack with superpowers. Super glad I've upgraded. lol

  • reaper is under rated

  • Hey, when I enable the metronome, for some reason it picks it up on my mic and records the clicks. I am using soundproof headphones. Any way to disable this?

  • Hey, open the volume control of your computer and go to the recordings part of the menu. Make sure everything is closed/volum 0 except for the line in.

I was looking for this for quite a while, so I know how annoying this is.

    Good luck!!

  • Ok, thanks man!

  • when he said it was similar to vegas i was kinda like hell yes i use vegas all the time!

  • Also, if you're used to Protools' "Shuffle mode", try turning on ripple editing and performing the above Selected-area operations. It's the button on the main topleft toolbar that looks like 9 squares.

  • It sounds like you have a clip, and you only want to select/delete a portion of that clip.

Simply left-mousebutton-drag so that the time selection highlights the region you want to delete, and press ctrl+delete. If you have no clips selected, it'll delete that region on every track/clip; select a clip and it'll only delete from that clip.

Right mouse click and look at the items involving "Selected area" for other operations similar to this, like copy/trim-to/etc.

  • @RogetMusic

I gotta say....using Cubase for years, Reaper for a few months...the inability to intuitively and quickly select just a selection on a single track...and not a vertical slice on all tracks...is my arch nemesis. And when I recorded over a take...I selected the last take....as an event...but it moved everything behind it on the track. And it's hard to quickly traverse event edges without selecting in the track...but that moves the cursor...cubase seems much superior in navigating...

  • thx for the video man. im new to those programs, and i have a doubt.. i recorded 3 tracks, saved the reaper file and got 3 different .wav files, one for each track. is there any way i could save this and get all tracks together in the same .wav file?

  • Did you render the project? If not, those 3 wav files you got are just parts of the project file; it saves local wavs of the recordings in realtime just like Protools etc.

Press ctrl+alt+R or File--->Render and choose an output file, format, etc. there, then click Render.

If you did this and it still outputs 3 files, make sure you have "Render master mix" checked in that window and not "Render 'stems'".

  • got it! thank you very much

  • Hey Wilbert, thanx for the video. I got more out of it than anything else out here.

I use Cubase/Sonar/Live without a problem but Reaper? I got discouraged early on; like simple things; how to copy, delete or group insert measures. I checked in the manual and couldn't find it.

A lot of my friends bought it and abandoned it quickly because it wasn't intuitive and we're seasoned users... with deadlines! Would appreciate any help you can give.

  • Thanks for the comments!

Quick way to delete a measure:

    1) Make sure grid snapping is on (rightclick the magnet, make sure all the "snap to grid" settings are checked)

    2) Select the measure (leftclick drag; ie. using the time selection)

    3) Rightclick and choose "Remove contents of selection (moving later items"

Insert a measure the same way; select the space of a measure, rightclick, "Insert empty space in selection".

  • To copy a measure, first ensure your midi/audio clip(s) are split in a sensible way such that you can copy and drag them to where you want and have everything appropriately selected.

    Once selected (with rightMouseButton), either:

    1) Hold ctrl and drag (insert time first if you need to)

    2) Ctrl+c, move cursor to destination and copy/paste with , ctrl+v

FWIW, I do tons of film music and am not satisfied with Reaper's handling of changing meter. But that is a long and different topic. :-)

  • What we wanted to do was to use Reaper on our netbooks when we play out because of it's small footprint.

I had a bad experience doing a project in Arizona with Cubase. Got there and realized I left the damn dongle in NY.

And that's the problem w Reaper. You know that whatever can go wrong - will, on a gig. I need to master my software. I don't want to be carrying a manual!

I'm wondering how long it's going to take me to learn this and feel comfortable with it. How long did it take you?

  • Are you doing music or SFX? I can schedule my next tutorials to focus on that in more detail.

I only started using Reaper because I needed something on PC for my music editing job, and I needed it right away. I'd never touched the program before but for my audio editing needs, it was very intuitive - basic audio functions are identical to Vegas, with a few improvements like the RMB selection.

Music took a bit longer but once you master IO/sends, you'll get it. I've never read the manual. :-)

  • I do music; composition as well as performance. I must admit that I cheat and don't necessarily give Reaper a chance. If an idea is burning, I go to Cubase.

You know how it is, with music, you can play 3 notes a million different ways, rhythmically or emotionally. If you don't capture it immediately, it might be lost forever.

Yes, I would really appreciate a tutorial on music. Record, a little editing, converting VST's to audio, and a little mixing.

The music world would love you for it!

  • @Bosslenz Yes...I agree with HBosslenz...a bread and butter commands through recording, editing, multiple tracks, bouncing midi/vst to a track would be AWESOME to see how a seasonsed pro does it :-) I do all this in Reaper but it seems more difficult than with Cubase...maybe it's not? However, maybe Steinberg's 25 years of experience makes for a more intuitive UI?

  • @8noteflight So for various reasons, my Synths tutorial (#4) goes slowly through the nitty-gritty of exactly what Reaper is doing when creating a synth track. Reaper's different from Sonar/Cubase/everythingelsereally in that it exposes internal routing of everything, and so I wanted to teach exactly what's going on first before showing the "easy mode". I think I have a link to skip straight to the easymode part though.

Later I'll do a true hands-on music editing task vid.

  • One more thing - the beauty of Reaper is its search funtions. You don't really need a manual and you don't need to "master" it like Protools etc.

I'll go over this in the next video, but press ctrl+P to bring up options and note the search bar at the bottom left. You can find any setting with that. :-)

Similarly, press "?" and you can find any action with that as well, give it a hotkey, and it's yours from now on. I've done my best to make my hotkeys behave like what I'm used to (Sonar 8).

  • Once again thanks. I'm out gigging for the holidays. Have a week off after XMAS will mess with it extensively!

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I try to create a life for myself without the computer becoming the highlight of the day. Big snowstorm in NY. Rough trying to get around.

    Happy Holidays.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the help - I'll try that out next time i'm trying to edit a clip. Thanks!

  • Adding silence should be as simple as just splitting (S) the track where you want silence and moving the right-side half over. I've never had to do any editing in external programs and frankly I haven't even set an external editor yet! :-)

Again this was just the first in a series of clips and there's plenty more info I wanna give, including some additional UI-related topics I forgot about. In fact, thanks for bringing these to my attention - my next vid will probably be UI part 2!

  • Hey davey -

A lot of what you wanna do can be done right in the track view, really. I'll get into more detail in a later video but for example you can adjust the gain by dragging the top of an audio clip down, you can non-destructively normalize a clip (as well as other operations) by clicking it and pressing F2 to bring up the clip's properties window, and so on. You can even put VST effects on a clip, separate from the effects you have on a track (shift+E I believe?).

  • Good tutorial. Is there a way to have a track in edit view for basic editing? In Adobe Audition and in Cubase, if I double click on a track it opens in a new window and allows me to insert silence to parts of it and reduce the gain in other bits of it etc. But in Reaper when I double click on a track it wants me to select another program to open it for editing? Surely not!!

  • Forgot to mention - not only is REAPER both PC and Mac compatible, it's also both 32 and 64bit and runs great in Vista64. It has its own BitBridge for running 32bit plugins in 64bit mode, and allows you to customize how it runs them as their own instances.
