  • Why is this glitchy?I play this version and i dont see any Glitch Flies in the ROM.

  • I'm not sure it was meant to be glitchy. It just uses resources that people didn't even know they can handle on a SNES game. Take a look. The OW is complete epicness. I bet Carol spent years on making the OW. Some things in this game are so changed that SMW's engine barely handles it. That's probably why you can't edit Kitiku Mario without destroying the ROM.

  • I want just bang my head to my table , to get Super Kitiku World (New Brutal Mario) Working. For no reason , almost all of levels are messed up (Including the Intro: When i start Brutal Mario , Some Messed Up Sprite falls down , and then some Message (I bet the Old Mario is Hungry Story") And also , most times when i try to get to Bowser , i see only Empty Room... Also most of Overworld Ways are Glitched. Could you say the solution for all that glitching?

  • @punisher1295 are you kidding me, brutal mario world, meant to be glitchy? I don't know if the one I just downloaded was messed up but it crashed on a level I know works from the original demo. It's basically beta, so at least say it is, don't give some dumb excuse like "it's meant to be that way". We all know it's not supposed to glitch and crash. Brutal is an amazing hack but, you know that really grinds my gears.

  • @nengaf : hey, those "unofficial" Brutal Mario beta downloads punisher1295 mentioned are buggy and are sometimes unreliable; hence they're not available for public download. Carol, the Brutal Mario hack creator, has yet to fix those problems in those unofficial betas so it will take time (a LOT of time!). Take it from me, I've played those unofficial betas and they are incomplete and either crash or freeze on certain levels of those betas. just wait for the final version to be released.

  • @DarkStarboye: yup but they're unofficial betas; you won't see them posted on SMW Central and not even on Carol's web site. better to wait for the final release of Brutal Mario, which should be more complete and should have all of the problems in those unofficial betas fixed.

  • A lot of stuff from DKC 1 and 2.

  • in the map with the clouds (and large sprites of Roll and Kirby) the kirby level marked by the Kirby sprite is actually the level where you fight Nova and Marx, also the gingerbread looking character sprite is the level that has Toad Aniki in it (unfortunately due to Carol removing the asm these levels can't be completed)

  • Hey you guys, any of you know what's the deal with the red doors in the original Brutal Mario Demo (not the boss doors), but the doors that resemble yellow doors only that they are instead red tinted. I was never able to enter them in the original Brutal Mario. Are there secret exits located there?

  • @se7enfive1 I believe those doors lead to bosses, whenever you die, so you can come back to the boss without doing the level. Im not too sure.

  • @punisher1295 Once all the yoshi coins are collected, the doors are usuable and act as a teleport to the boss, that's why Carol always puts all the yoshi coins in a castle next to the boss door.

  • @se7enfive1 when you defeat the boss the first time you can just skip to it.

  • @se7enfive1 if you collect all the dragon coins and re-enter the level you can enter the door and it'll take you straight to the boss

  • It's ironic how little he uses coding shortcuts. I know for a fact he uses things like $7E0019 instead of just $19 in his codes.

  • I don't know how I did it, but I once managed to change the overworld colors and get the song "Searching for Friends" from Final Fantasy 6 for this game's main overworld.

  • I tried patching this both to Super Mario World in Japanese and English (Both clean copies).

    I used both IPSWin, and Lunar IPS.

    I used both the English and the Normal (Japanese) patch, and every time I get a bad rom message, I tried it in SNES9x and ZSNES.

    What am I doing wrong?

  • regarding the overworld of brutal mario, the document on carol's overworld sprite editor came with an image that shows some of its graphics, meaning that it is likely, the new overworld had been planned for a long time.

  • It will take a few months to get my hack done, since it's not a demo.

  • Yoshi's island patch? Well there is only ONE certain ROM you must use to apply the patch...

    try "yoshi's island (u) v1.0" You will find a few roms that have a M3 in it. If you do don't download those.

  • Wow... just wow... I know your a noob but go to SMWcentral(dot)net and download in the tools section "lunar IPS" Then download a Super mario world (U) Rom (search it at google) then open lips (lunar ips) then look for the IPS file then click on your SMW ROM.

  • It's the main theme of a Japanese SNES game from Square Enix called Live-A-Live. Type in 'Live-A-Live Main Theme' in the search engine; it should be the first result you see.

    By the time carol is finished with this hack, It will be so epic that it will create the Apocalypse!

  • But I'm sure for the final version, Carol will use UPS instead of IPS. UPS allows for more space in a ROM to add more stuff. The Mother 3 English Translation is one ROM hack that uses it. If Demo World: The Legend Continues had used it you wouldn't need to expand the SMW ROM when you patch it.

  • In other words, based on your comments, The game is being toned down by removing all the stuff that made it unique including all the ASM and all the custom bosses?!

  • yeah thats the only way this hack could be able to run in emulators. and lunar magic.

    besides that was done so the rom could be under 4 mega bytes

  • Carol would not remove the custom bosses. It's what makes this hack so unique. Based on all the stuff he did so far he'll probably think of something revolutionary to keep all the things in this hack together. Before Carol some of this stuff would be unimaginable in a smw rom hack.

  • Since it's still a WIP, Carol is probably putting the old ASM aside for now. He'll pick which bosses he wants to have in the final version, and probably make the ASM for them even better.

    Just think about, some of the bosses like King K. Rool could be programmed very similar to his attack pattern in DKC2, or Kirby in the World 6 fortress would act exactly like Baby Bowser, even his final form. Whatever bosses he decides to bring back, we're expecting a lot from him.

  • He also might do what American SMW Hackers have been doing for a few years now-expand the Rom to 4MB and will probably use UPS for the final patching system instead of IPS.

  • The link isn't working for me. The game works, but all custom sprites fall down to the screen and the graphics of the maps is a bit glitchy. My rom is also clean, I tested it and apply it to all other hacks. Are you sure the link works?

    Anyway, the submaps look amazing!

  • Ah no there is nothing wrong with the ips.

    carol (the person who created this) took out the custom sprite data from the rom. so the rom would be under 4 mega bytes.

  • nice find the new demo is awesome also when you beat the airship (dragon boss) the color of the the overworld changes and the music also changes to the second theme in FF6/FF3

  • This was a great find! In order:

    0:08: World 6, which at this moment can only be accessed by a Star, or moving Mario in LM to one of the levels.

    0:21: World 4...looks very confusing. Wonder how this will work out. Also, small bits of the main OW, which has also been remodeled, and looks great (not so good in LM. -_-).

    0:41: This is the Special World. Likely most of the levels are from the cheep_demo.

    0:45: Mainly the level's theme. The one with Kirby is the level with Marx.

  • 1:01: That is World 8. Supposedly the "boss" level on the right side is Bowser's Castle.

    1:24: And THAT is Luigi's World. Kinda unsuitable for poor Luigi, but he might be the game's main boss according to a storyline on this hack, so I guess it might be suitable as is.

    ...Why do I say hack? It's looking more and more like an actual game now! Carol has outdone himself so much!

  • Probably they are bosses or sub-bosses...

  • The sprite are signifying the level. For example: Kirby- Nova/Marx/Kirby Battle, "Blue Guy"- Halbert and Final Fantasy Level, etc.
