  • darkness= the unknown , part of the mystery, it makes you want more , makes you want an ending or a revelation of sorts ..... Draws you closer emotionally, attaches you intimately.

  • wow that last sentence was very profound

  • knowing david lynch...that probably isnt even his own arm..lol.

  • <3

  • friggen excellent Lynchy :D....cheers 2 all of yas

  • JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA!

  • amazing person

  • other than quran is not peace but that will be dis order with the name of order

God made one with this one emoiton

haj / kaba is a center of emotion

  • yukhrijoonahum minazzulumati ilannoor

taking out from darkness to light

emotion of peace is not only blind emotion

it is conscious emotion of order

which has criteria of wrong and right already in our mind

quran as a signs of peace from nature provides wisdom knowledge to fulfill that emotion of order by which human can be free from this 3 dimensional world of matter

  • I love David Lynch but his hands are so distracting.

  • As David Lynch says in one of his other videos, "Suffering can be a beautiful thing for a story, but not for the film maker, or the painter, it blocks creativity."

  • Great Analogy

  • Dickens novels are full of violence and tragedy-but he was a man who desired peace and social change-I see no conflict in what Lynch is saying and what he was created.

  • this is the same David Lynch-wow I am impressed-love his movies-(ahhh ...eraser head, was a must see for art students of my era) and he is right on about conciseness-nice to hear him talk.

  • great analogy

"Stories are always going to have conflict. And they're going to have highs and lows and goods and bads and all this conflict, but..."

My suggestion: Maybe it's time to create a new way to define "story." Because as we continue to follow that well-worn meme of "There HAS to be CONFLICT in a story"...we can do all the meditating in the world, but...we will continue to create it. Not just on film.

As we feel and think...so we create.

    Translate: I choose differently.

    Love to all.

  • He's a great speaker, likes to talk with his hands a lot though. Nothin wrong with that....

  • Lynch is fantastic inspiration for film makers

  • well you have to think first, caucasians and the world has programed us to think that darkness is bad and light is good, they simply do this by saying little stuff like, "dont go to the dark side or they call the dark side of things bad". light is not good, you are more apt to get blinded by light then darkness. darkness is existence and its allways there before the light, darkness birthed light. and light cannot escape darkness. just how light cannot escape a black hole.

  • For me Light and darkness. Are as simple as turning on and off a Light. YOU turn the light either on or off. The Light always overcomes the darkness. When you look at OUR Solar system. The sun Light is constant and tha darkness only rules one side of the Planets and no more. Light is Power/ darkness is weakness. Maybe I'm wrong. We are still the Human race. We are so great we do not understand our own greatness. Peace, Love and Happiness for ALL:) You are great and I believe in the Human race.

  • i like this guy

  • @heshduff So do I!

  • He is an inspiration to me , especially in his film Dune , he really got the right mood for that film , and you can't forget eraserhead :)

  • Man... wished I get to personally attend this seminar

  • ahhh,,,I love the last statement. I love seeing people come out of darkness.

  • @heavensfrost Absolutely.

  • I am amazed and intrigued by the way he moves his hands and fingers around.

  • has anyone uploaded this full interview?? it looks really great. what a genius :)

  • In Eraserhead, light mostly resembled hope. Darkness resembled death/despair/sadness etc.

In the end, the protagonist (whose name i can't remember right now) kills the 'mutant baby'. It was his cause of sins he made, and as he killed the cause of sins, he killed himself. Darkness and light started to go crazy in he's room, because as he died, he finally found peace of mind.

    That's what it's all about.

  • maybe the darkness refers to his dark mind.

  • I love when artists are honest and there is not much more than a simple answer to a question that seeks to complicate simplicity.

  • word to that.

  • I love how he's always moving his hand around when he talks. Its just so amusing to watch.

  • Keep on keeping on, Lynch!

  • Darkness is the best! It worked great in Eraserhead.

  • :D i thought that last answer was so cute >.<

  • You can't argue with him. Mainly becouse you don't understand what he's saying.

  • wizard or wanker? i've been coming out the darkness for years by the way....

  • Try 'really good Director'.

  • haha... I love his view of things...

    simplicity... pure simplicity:)

  • His fluttering hand gestures make him even more eccentric and fascinating.

  • I know him!!! I know him!!!

  • Perkins, you rock!

  • The first part sounds like Aristotle's idea of representation in Poetics.

  • Bang on! Thought the same thing. Esp. the conflict part.

  • blessings for david lynch

  • "I love seeing people come out of darkness"

    simply beautiful

    the universe itself is compassion

  • LOL.... "I... love.. seing... people... come out of darkness..." long silence, people expecting something else and then, after they realize there's nothing else.... laughter.

  • WHAT is wrong with his other hand. He keeps holding the *one up. Interesting speech, I like his speeches about TM. The violence i can do without..

  • Beautiful.
