  • since when did test scores matter for athletes, there are alot of pros that didnt take their SAT's , fuck the nba it involves too much bullshit.

  • I bet DePaul wishes they would have taken him. They've had one good year since with Q Rich. Other than that, nothing.

  • nice doco.

but the best player to not play in the NBA is Hook Mitchell. But they already made a documentary about him :)

  • @eazyep actually the best player not to play in the NBA was Raymond Lewis from Los Angeles...check out his vid! Peace

  • @drexyl1973 Yo. i have checked out his video and if what these guys say is correct, then yes i do believe he is the best player to not make it. But who are those guys anyway? There were actual NBA players talking about how Hook mitchell would kill them.

  • I beg to differ..the best player not to play in the NBA was Raymond Lewis from Los Angeles..check out his vid

  • good doc on Ronnie Jordan I heard about him when KG moved from South Carolina to Chicago to play with him . I picked up SLAM magizine in 95or 96 and saw he was the truth I wish there was youtube back in the day there were a lot of guys all over the country that were amazing

  • minus the vertical leap, was he any good.

the accident seemed to take away his athleticism a little and he was forced to rely on his fundamentals. it seems like his game depended heavily on his leaping ability and overall athleticism before.

  • Experts say his skills aren't this or aren't that...Man I've seen him break fools down!!! I saw him play against Peoria Central and A.J. Guyton (River City Shootout) and WOW! So whatever...you think these videos are something...if you saw him play in person...YOU'D NEVER FORGET HIM!

  • ronnie played in the cba the past couple years here in my hometown.......He played for the minot skyrockets...minot is in North Dakota

  • Had the honor of working with Ronnie when he played for the Skyrockets of the CBA... Great cat, great basketball mind... He doesn't have the hang time but he can still dunk and his shooting abilty and fadeaway were second to none in the league... Seen him hit a 35-foot dagger to slience a hostile crowd in the CBA Finals at Oklahoma, one of my favorite basketball stories I'll carry with me...

  • so sad ;( if he would been in the NBA he would become a legend like jordan but in his special way.

jordan had a special way, and så did ronnie

  • NBA lost a briliant player because of that damn crash

  • i dont get it, yet a horrible crash happened but he came back, it was b.cuz of his grades he didnt make it

  • Yeah Ronnie may have come back, but he wasn't ANYWHERE near the same player as he was before the crash. He could have easily went to a community college for a year to get his grades up and then transfer to a University after if he wanted to. Shawn Kemp declared for the NBA after going to a community college for a year and look at what he did in Seattle (and he was supposed to go to Kentucky but he got in trouble, just like Ronnie's grades got him in trouble). It was definitely the crash, man.

  • No puedo creer que este jugador lo tube al lado woow No sabia quien eraa..

  • @ 2:41 he could have easily did a windmill elbow hang. he is def a legend

  • xtremely disappoited.

Some dunks, some field goal show that he can b the 2nd Jordan.

If he would have been in the NBA, i surely tell u that he would take his team to the finals.

    A LEGEND...

  • my pops played him in high school he played for GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL

  • what is the name of the song at 20 seconds! it starts like this "it is breaking me down" anyway very good documentary!!!

  • Justin Timberlake- Losing My Way.!

  • I suppose the layup is the 2nd most overrated 2 points in basketball?

  • so if at 0:06, i rise up, put my nuts in your mouth, knock you down & leave the rim rattling. i only get 2 points. but if at those same 0:06 seconds remaining, you shoot a jumper, it's all the same thing? suuuuuure

  • please make this video i would buy it

  • never heard of this guy's name until i started reading slam magazine.

  • he is def getting old. plays semi pro in minot, nd...doesnt seem like the old ronnie at all when i watched him at the begining of the season

  • This Documentary needs to be made!!!!!!!!

  • The best HS I ever saw outta chitown with my own eyes was Ben Wilson, he was scottie pippen before scottie pippen. Mark Aguirre was a close second. Ronnie was top 5 but not close to being the best ever.

  • I was a chicago suburbs basketball player who played from 2000-2004. I was shocked at how many "basketball minds" didnt know about this guy. He is/was an amazing player that i had to find out through my older bro and highlight videos. This video is too well made to be just on youtube. This story should gain more attention even now!

  • Thank you very much for the kind words. I have been trying to make this a documentary for years. I hope you are right.

    Thanks!

  • It's from one of my favorite movies of the 90s... "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" starring Jason Scott Lee (no relation) and Lauren Holly. Ronnie Fields is possibly a better dunker in high school than... MJ? No. But he has unfreak hops, more that DWhizzle

  • there are at least ten guys who were better dunkers than mj in high school... and no, i'm not tryin to diminish what mike has done in his career...

  • Proviso West Tournament Outstanding Players:

Isiah Thomas,Doc Rivers, Mark Aguirre, Ronnie Fields, Marcus Liberty, Donnie Boyce, Micheal Finley, Kevin Garnett, Hershey Hawkins, Jeff Hornacek, Juwann Howard, Corey Maggette, Bob Lackey and Jim Brewer.

  • True hops! Everybody these days always throwing the ball of the ground and going get it. It looks creative but doest not display trueeee hoppppsss!

  • Can anyone tell me the music that starts at 1:48???

  • "The Dragon's Heartbeat"

  • It's from one of my favorite movies of the 90s... "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" starring Jason Scott Lee (no relation) and Lauren Holly. Ronnie Fields is possibly a better dunker in high school than... MJ? No. But he has unfreak hops, more that DWhizzle.

  • a lot of those dunks, including the last one, is from the Proviso West Christmas tournament. Best high school basketball tournament in the country. The show that Ronnie and KG put on there is still talked about to this day in and around Chicago.

  • where can i get this docamentery

  • the reason farragut didnt win the state title. is because of kevin garnett. Whose numbers never get in the playoffs. he cant step up his game for when it matters, so yes hes the reason they lost.

  • hmmm. 2008 NBA Champs. hmmm.

  • he stepped it up in the finals. i wont lie. but he didnt step it up for the state playoffs. or. for a matter of fact. any time before the 2008 finals.

  • i don't think so. Even though they were are legends in the CPL and IHSA leagues, they lost to good Thorton team, who even though not as publicized as Farragut but had good players as well. I know 1 or 2 went to the NBA can't remember their names but they also had Randell El, who was a legit player even at Inidana....and the NFL.

  • Ronnie's only flaw in his game was his arrogance, I can remember him coming in2 the shoe store I used 2 work in @ the time, & he actually bragged about not having 2 buy his sneakers, I told him "everybody can't be big time HS hoop stars like U" in fact, it was his own fault that he could'nt get in2 DePaul, he used 2 B.S. around on days when he should've been studying 4 the SATs.

I just hope KG invites him 2 the Finals after Boston knocks off Detroit.

  • That was not all Ronnie's fault. He had people in his ear since he was kid telling him how great he was. And he wasn't lying about not having to buy shoes.

Deep down Ronnie is a good guy who usually always has a smile on his face.

  • i used to smoke ronnie one on one back in the day at seargent main park . . . him and garnett, those fools were clowns, i rained so many threes in their faces

  • Give ronnie respect for being a good player and trying to go to college

  • imagine him and Kobe going at it.

  • what is the song that starts at about 24 seconds?

  • This is a really amazing guy i only wish that i could repay him for getting me into the games this guy is definatly a guy people should look up to. i was lucky to know him

  • This guy is amazing i just wish that there is something that i could do for him since he gets me into the games i just wish that there was a way that i could repay him

  • dang dude i feel bad for ronnie hes such a cool dude he gets tickets for my friends and i all the time to his cba games i just wish he made it to the nba hes such a great guy

  • He would definately been better than MJ... this is truely sad I seriously just cried.

  • R U OUT OF YOUR MIND?!?!?!?

Do u realize what you just said???

Better than MJ? Ronnie was good, but he isn't even the best HS player in the history of IL.

  • So what, who are you to say that. MJ wasn't even in the top 100 basketball players of all time. He really didn't become great until UNC.

  • never forgotten

  • what's the song that starts at 1:46?

  • I'm glad to know that my high school classmate is doing good, Kevin and Ronnie made our School look good. In a way that-our school was known as one of the worse school of Chicago, but Ronnie and Kevin and of course the Farrugut team made Farragut students a hope of change and for a better future. I'm proud to say that my Senior year we had fun and enjoy the basketball team just because of the guys.

  • Ronnie is playing for the Minot ND Skyrockets of the CBA (as he did last year). Its truly a priviledge to see him suit-up in our town. He's awesome. I wish some NBA squad would give him a shot.... his jumper seems to be better this year and he gets lots of steals and dishes. Minot ND loves Ronnie!!

  • we need to set up a Ronnie Fields fund, this guy deserves a little payback for the memories he gave us.

  • Ha ha. Good stuff. I will try to pass these messages on to him.

  • Ronnie......a true talent enough said

  • Ronnie fields is indeed a legend in Chicago probably the best player since Isaih Thomas to come out of Chicago...guys like Jitim Young mentions wat rolemodel he was Luther Head Will Bynum Tony Allen...hes got world wide respect...

  • thats sad man!

  • This is quality docu. Probably one of the better ones on YT. Growing up a Demon fan,(WGN) but living outside of Chicago, I only read and heard about Fields. Thanks, for sharing this piece.

  • mos def the greatest high school player ever to play the game

got to see many games and lebron james didnt even compare to ronnie big ups wherever u are thanks for the memories ...

  • i dunno about all that

  • mos def the greatest high school player ever to play the game

got to see many games and lebron james didnt even compare to ronnie big ups wherever u are thanks for the memories ...

  • I remember as a ten-year old seeing Fields 360 dunk at Welsh Ryan arena as Farragut. Deerfield was also in that super-sectional with Ryan Hogan (who played at Kentucky and transferred to Iowa), Fields was a man among boys and put up incredible numbers at the Proviso East Holiday Tournament...

  • Can you please tell me the name of the song that plays form about 0:50 and lasts until 1:46 ?

    Thank you very much.

  • Justin Timberlake - Losing My Way

  • is there any current video on ronnie fields?

  • Not that I have. The video from his ABA days around thr 1:02 mark was the most recent I had.

  • thats my cuzo i wish did made it to the nba...

  • I wish he did too.

  • i agree with your docu for ronnie fields! actually, he played in the pba (philippines) as an import for shell turbochargers i think it was 1996 or 1997. he was a nice player good dunker simply he was a joy and exciting to watch. unfortunately, he didnt carried that ballclub to championship. nevertheless, i happy that he played in my country! before i knew he him because of KG, but now after watching your docu i must say KG was known because of Ronnie!

  • I am a personal friend of Ronnie, we played together in the pro league in Venezuela, it is so sad to hearing talk about that accident and what he could have been. Defenitly a legend and an inspiration for anyone...By the way he still has some pretty nice dunks!!! UNBELIEVABLE

  • Do you happen to know the name of the song that begins at 1:46? I'd love to know but I can't seem to figure it out.

  • It's called "The Dragon's Heratbeat."

  • Very nice video. Always rooted for this guy. Keep up the good work.

  • well done ant, well done
