  • Raw wheat germ might be good on this too, although since it has to be refridgerated it probably would be better when making at home.

  • Hey Dara - Getting ready to hit the road so I revisited this great video. May I ask how much of the chia seeds you measure into your prepackaged baggies? Thanks!!

  • how long should you soak almonds for?

  • When you say chia do you mean the same seeds that are used for a chia pet? :)

  • @machacra

well yes, i believe they are?

    :)

  • @Avrilxxxmac

yes. never dry! :) oh my...

  • Definitely trying this one! A quick healthy breakfast recipe is always welcomed. Thanks for the motivaton. :)

  • @msfairiebloom

you are so welcome fast healthy clean. :)

  • Fab idea! I have to find psylliuym husk around here. Any other ideas to give the chia/water mix taste/flavor? Would the water bulk up the same way if I added a blended apple and ground cinnamon?

  • @PurnaBhat

try it. sounds wonderful. maybe not as thick.

  • Fabulous! I'll be trying that for breakfast tomorrow :)

  • @Netty083

    did you try it yet?

  • @daradubinet

I did! I did!! I used some organic maple syrup and a pinch of salt and it was delish. The second time I made it - I added some oat groats that I soaked over night and some chopped walnuts and used honey and fruit - it was very filling and yummy! Thank you so much for sharing!!

  • I'm in Glen Ridge! glad your here, we need your good vibes!

  • @pinetree909

thank you. am from these parts ;)

  • Wonderful video as usual

I have never had chia seeds so I will give it a try :)

  • @theRoseofmyheart

oh, once you go chia, you never go back!

  • awesome ideas as always. one love

  • @Taizembe

    one love. love.

  • How long chia seeds need to soak?

  • @ColorDivaPRDR I think it' more about the amound of water than the time. they're good in like 15 minutes, but make sure lots of water and keep stirring. i use over a ten to one ratio and they still manage to membrane up and take over the glass

  • @Taizembe

nice. i guess i use less and wait longer. i do add more if i am in a hurry!

  • @ColorDivaPRDR

1/2 hour to more. i like them soaking for 2 hours.

  • Do the chia seeds have to be white? Mine don't say white is there a difference.

  • @cattilou pretty sure you can buy them in two forms. the ones i have are like little gray cracked dinosour eggs

  • @Taizembe

love their little "eggy" forms! so cute!

  • @cattilou

i just happened to have white ones this time.

chia come in all different strains. i love them any way.

  • the breakfest of chamption,YES!!

  • @MsCalann

  • @Avrilxxxmac

  • what does it taste like?

  • @dofdestiny10

it tastes lovely. add vanilla and honey if you don't like stevia! :)

  • @dofdestiny10

not much without vanilla stevia or other flavoring.

  • A very simple and delicious idea. Thanks so much for this video.

  • @margysd

    you are welcome.

  • is there anything else we could substitute for physium husk -- and how would you introduce it into your eating without "sitting" all day? -- love the "oatmeal" idea though :)

  • @AStateofDeNile

hmmm....funny. just use chia. when some people travel

they use a little help in this dept ;).

  • Great tips! I'm about to do some traveling aka moving across the country and didn't know what I should do. Does the psylium have a taste? if so what is it like?

  • @stcook79

    no taste! :)

  • Funny, I have that Stevia bottle too, and I love chia seeds. AND, I'm going on a road trip to Yosemite on Saturday. Thank you for the video!!

in snow and ice! have so much fun. ahhh how beautiful it is there.

  • @Avrilxxxmac, good point. It seems most of the raw food people I run across don't have corporate 9 to 5 jobs (including myself).

  • Dara Awesome vid, is your brother raw also? Seems not should have had him try this on camera! LOL!

Went to Dinner with my father today and he & the Waiter thought I was nuts eating 2 heaping plates of salad! :-) Have a great & Safe Trip!

  • @dtadpole

brother is not raw. no way. he has fought me on much of

this for years. but i am healthy. so now my whole family listens

and eats whatever i make. it has been close to 7 years. i arrive

"home" and am at peace. love my brother and he is wanting to

know more! they won't think you are nuts forever. we are a growing family!

  • I'm going through a depression and I've lost my motivation to live well. Searching for a spark. Xo

  • @livejuicecreator

    consider yourself sparked!!!

  • Hi Dara, thank you for your videos. I need help with keeping hydrated easily that tastes good. Water to me is too blah. My health really suffers because I'm dehydrated.

  • @livejuicecreator

oh, ok add sweetleaf stevia, and fulvic acid. add vitamin c, add lemon, other fruit. :)

  • Enjoy your trip... Amazing how If you don't put a video or a day or two, I feel like I miss on something huge on the raw world..!... (hahaha)... And tell your brother to keep filming you..! (and the dogs of course)...!

bringing a huge salad and smoothies! i will try to vid. :) and will ask one of my family

to video later. thanks for watching :)

  • a great video, as usual! Such important info about travelling. I have dark chia seeds. I didn't realize that there was a difference (is there?) Did the psyllium contribute to thickening the mixture along with the chia seeds? THANKS...welcome to the east coast! Carolin in CT!!!

  • @woollyblue

dark, light, who cares? psyllium thickens! hi Carolin!!

  • Hi Dara ~ Is the psyllium husk powder for fiber?

    Debbie *Ü*
