I loved this theme, but I have a question. Is it the same piece of music that was used in NWN2 after you got out of the Eyegouger Caves and were running back to Old Owl Well? I thought that piece was so great, with its somewhat Middle Eastern flavor, and no one seems to mention it. I've gone into the music folder of NWN2 and checked out all the list and it's not there, but honest,it didn't appear to me in a dream. It's in the game. And it might just have wound up as the theme to MotB. Anyone know?
@4Gloma5 The only one that comes to my mind is fugue plane combat thingie, not sure if you are still searching for it seeing as you asked one month ago but thought id give it a go.
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which is electronic music inspired by great games such as Neverwinter Nights. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
and in my humble opinion, motb absolutely blows away all contenders in nwn to date - only hotu came anywhere near it. also, nwn2 official takes far too long to get to the point where it's bearable to play. all of the early neverwinter main quest is horrid.
This game is the closest we'll ever get to Planescape : Torment. Of course, Obsidian does have many of interplay's guys in it, so its expected that they would be the ones to come closest to their own classic.
It is a fast version of the Neverwinter Nights 2 theme. I did not much like the expansion as much as the standard campaign. Halfway through the game (after I talked to the gargoyles, I developed some sort of curse that takes away a little bit of health every minute and my companions kept disapearing.
MotB is best add-on ever. Its epicness is, that FINALLY you can choose to be ultimate evil villain, not just shiny paladin or paragon hero. You can devour even Gods to improve your own strength, be a living legend who scares sh*t out of lil kids when they go sleep, even tough guys around the campfire. You can be selfish power-hunger killing machine... And best ending... Hell yeah, your power and deeds unites dozens of gods and demigods together to hunt you down, cause you are threat to them...
@SadakoSenpai Absolutely agreed. Actually, I can compare it only with NWN:HotU - both are fucking epic, both have the best storylines I have ever seen in RPGs, and finally - this is a real adventure if you ask me, not just player, skills, monsters, and big empty land like F3 for example. Its just brilliant.
I felt the length was just perfect. It wasn't short enough that it left you wishing for (much) more, and neither was it so long that it felt artificially extended. And consider the insane replay value!
i dont like "storm of zahire" but NWN 2 and "mask of the betrayer" have story that u will never see in some other game....I wish some1 make movie NWN with storyline like in game.
Neverwinter Nights 2 is one of the best RPG's ive ever played and this music really shows epicness, plus i always loved the expansion more than the actual game becasue i think the storyline is much darker and has much a greater feeling xD
@woodwyrm Yeah I know he does. I meant in the sense that it doesn't sound a lot like his other work. His stuff in UT and Deus Ex bear some similarities.
This theme reminds me IWD themes... Which is great and i think they actually wanted it to sound familliar. Like SoZ theme sounds much like Baldur's Gate themes.
soz is supposed to give you more of a grand adventure feel, as the game itself is supposed to be an adventure spanding across two countries. this one is more darker and more violent, as the game itself is supposed to be.
somehow the music here is a lot better than the expansion itself. maybe that's cos I've been fighting display bugs for a few hours before I got to actually play it properly...
Or maybe it's because the game kept you freaking out the whole time because of the spirit meter. Minus the meter, the expansion would've been the bomb.
@DesertHamster ME TOO omg what a BRILLIANT story concept I was like whaaaaat I don't understand this hunger but then they make perfect sense how original!!!!
What a great topic, how many hours of play ...

Exellent theme from exellent expansion pack. Only downside is that it felt little too short.

I need to finish my second playthrough of the Neverwinter Nights 2 campaign so I can progress to Mask of the Betrayer.
First playthrough I kinda paniced and rushed through the game. I think I finished MotB in 5 hours.
It was reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally hard. x.x
And I still haven't managed to play Storm of Zehir properly either, it's not as linear as NWN2 and MotB 3:

The weirdest thing about this song is finding out that Alex Brandon was part of it (look at Deus Ex or Unreal Tournament's soundtrack).

Dethphunk 1 year ago
@Dethphunk Look in your NWN 2 x2-music folder, make copies of the music, and change the musics' extension to .mp3.
SilentSentinel547 1 year ago 8
gah....that means I had to reinstall the game again which is a real bummer cos I dont know where my DVD has gone to.
Dethphunk 1 year ago
@SilentSentinel547 and how do you do that? Mediaconverter is just being a douche at the mo
Starlesswolf001 10 months ago
@Starlesswolf001 Go to your games music folder, copy the files, and change the copied files extensions to .mp3.
SilentSentinel547 10 months ago
@Starlesswolf001 You dont have to use a converter. you literally just delete the file extension type and retype in .mp3 It should work.

such an underrated game, it's right behind greats like fallout, baldur's gate and planescape torment if you ask me. and the theme song is brilliant.

There is a file in nwn2vault which restores the MoTB menu and menu music, if you have SoZ installed.
