I'm also formulating an idea that would allow me to take the wheels off of my my bike, lock them and the trailer wheel(s) up and then mount the bike to a mechanism in the boat to serve as propulsion and steering. This was a time when the practical person, the mechanic, machinist , pattern maker was celebrated. Practical skills are not gender dictated. 3 cheers on the boat and the rest of your endeavors.

I have a book like that that tells how to make black-powder and a cannon.

Folding design makes it easy to store ashore. I think for long term use, knees should be fitted where the gun'ls meet the transoms on each part of the hull.

Nicely done! When I was a kid in the 60's my public library had a copy of "The Boy Mechanic" and I checked it out a bunch of times. I have since found a couple copys for my own collection. I love the statements like "this steam engine can be constructed from materials found in most home scrap piles". Everything from photography, radio, electrical, magic, bicycles, models even a biplane glider! Get one on eBay.

What a facinating idea. That would be perfect to fit in the back of a pick up truck so you wouldn't need a cumbersome trailer.

Heres an idea. Build an out rigger system like polynesian boats for stability. A nifty retracting light sail based on retractable window shades would be sweet!
