does the sennheiser need an adaptor for the shoe of the canon. we are trying to decide which is better for the hv 20... rodes which seems big or this sennheiser. most complaints were about the wind muff that falls off.
would you recommend more the mke 400 or the rode svm? i shoot a lot of live concerts with high volume and i'm scared that the audio will be distorted....also i can't manually control the audio level from my camera (panasonic pv gs 70) so i must try to do it from the mic...thanks a lot for your help
The RODE SVM has a built in pad. The pad would aid in allowing the user to drop the levels in loud environments. Not to mention, the RODE is more musical - the Sennheiser is better tuned for dialog. Use the coupon "take5" at our site dvestore.
I can still hear the HV20 motor noise...I have an HV20, and want a mic to get rid of that. I like the size of this mic...still don't know what I'll end up going with. Nice informative vid.
I'm very interested to purchase the litepanels micro and hama bracket from you guys. One question though, I own the Rode videomic (mono). Will that fit on the sidebracket without any modifications or me having to buy any other parts?
That is the Countryman B3 lav with a Sennheiser Evolution G2 wireless. About 3.5x's the price of an MKE400. See our dvestore site or search on eBay. Use coupon code "take5" or call us 1-877-353-8077 and I'll see if I can get you an even greater discount!
Please list each of the accessories shown on the HV20 in this video. How many mini-litepanels? What was the adaptor you mentioned at the beginning that you attached the mic to? Thanks. Nice video...
I have the Rode videomic for my shotgun mic, I do mostly filming aplications, I'm looking now for a stereo mic, which would be the best to get... mostly outdoor recording and with high wind.
The RODE Videomic sounds fuller. With the Sennheiser having the side advantage. The MKE400 lacks bottom end - however, I will be using it in places where the Videomic is too obtrusive.
the big question is do you get any hiss in post?

do you need a litepanel if you are using fast primes on a HDSLR like a 50 F1.2, 35 1.4 or an 85 1.2?

The MKE400 has a 1/4"-20 thread, you could get an extension cable and a small tripod to move it off the camera.

Thanks. The Hama bracket has a standard cold shoe, it will work perfect.

Mounted on the HV20, indoors, and at about 4-5 feet from the subject, which mic would one go with: the mke400 or a Rode Videomic?
AlKamalizad 3 years ago
I like the RODE SVM on a boom pole for an indoor situation like that. Watch the other video that shows it indoors and outdoors.
dvestore 3 years ago
but for a one-man operation, with booming not an option??
AlKamalizad 3 years ago
Dialog at 4-5' away is asking for trouble. Go with a wireless lav. Either the Sennheiser Evolution G2, or on a budget, the Audio Technica Pro88

but what was the setting of the mic set to.. 0db, -10db, -20db.. sound like it was at 0db's..
DramaKidStudioz 4 years ago
has the adjustable pad's in those increments. The MKE400 mic, as shown in the video has a Vol - and a Vol +
It was set on Vol -
