do you know that the man behind the tagline "where you belong" is originally from ABS CBN? During the martial law era he worked at GMA only to return to his former channel as the Lopezes regained Channel 2.
BBC-2 and GTV-4 (now NBN-4) were both from ABS-CBN (DZAQ-TV 2 and DZXL-TV 4) after Marcos seized the Lopez-owned network during Martial Law. GTV-4 used Broadcast Plaza which was returned back to ABS-CBN which is now called as Broadcasting Center after EDSA 1 Revolution.
it was mentioned. however it focused more on martial law and the era when marcos controlled the media-through his cronies. I even see footages of propaganda, since lopez was imprisoned.
during the martial law era, ABS CBN was ssequestered by the government and given to the Benedictos. Lopez, the original owner of ABS CBN and CBN, was imprisoned out of a fabricated crime. Lopez owned channels 2, 4 and 9 before being sequestered.
Kung hindi lang nawala ang BBC City 2 (Big, Beautiful Country) dahil sa People Power malamang iba na ang channel noon. At lalo segurong titindi ang Network Wars kung hindi kinumpiska ang RPN at IBC ng Cory Regime.
September 23, 1972: Marcos sequestered any non-state broadcast services. ABS-CBN 9 went off the air, as its studios were taken over by presidential crony Roberto Benedicto. The name was changed from CBN to KBS. The ABS-CBN Broadcast Center became the home of state-run Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation BBC2, Government Television GTV4 and Kanlaon Broadcasting System KBS9. Later on Eugenio Lopez Jr. was imprisoned. In 1980, Channel 2, 9 and 13 was moved to the new Broadcast City in Diliman, QC.
Well... The Sorianos gave up channel 13, perhaps having channel 13 owned by the Benedictos is good, and if they continue owning it, perhaps it would compete with 5, to the point of competing with 2and 7.
We Filipinos should patronise our own products, not Red Chinese ones even if they are cheap. As the late Narciso Ramos said: "I would rather eat camotes instead of imported rice from Red China."
same goes for today.have you heard that all of mattel`s products sold everywhere in our country are made in china when the great recall happen in the us?
...because back then, GMA-7 was broadcasting from EDSA at 30,000 watts until they moved transmitter sites to Tandang Sora in 1988 (and boosting their power to 50,000 watts at the same time). BBC-2 purchased a new transmitter system in 1978 but still used the present ABS-CBN tower on Mother Ignacia.
yung broadcast plaza naman (as displayed in the first slide of the GTV-4 station ID here), that's how the ABS-CBN broadcast center was renamed when the marcos stations moved in in the '70s...
naabutan ko pa yung original GMA tower sa EDSA studios, just behind the old RBS building...tuluyan na siyang giniba around 2005 or early 2006, when they renovated the area between the old and new buildings at the GMA compound...
Ako rin, hehehe. I'll miss the old triangular GMA tower which is part of Philippine history. Sana nga lang kung sa halip na gibain, nilipat na lang nila atop the GMA Network Center. Haayyy...
hmmm...good point there, although naisip ko rin, the network center's height is good enough for the little tower they've erected sa tuktok ng building...tutal, yung silbi siguro nun--as perhaps the old GMA triangular tower was after the network switched on the tandang sora x'mitter--is to beam GMA and LS-FM's signals from "home base" to tandang sora (or, as in the case of DZBB, from the studio to their obando x'mitter)...
what you've posted is pinoy tv gold, man...i mean, i dont know of any local site (yet--sana magkaroon, tho) that has a collection of tv plugs and ads THIS old...and im enjoying it...especially this particular clip of BBC and GTV4 plugs... :)
How did you do this? Did you find old beta tapes? You sure had to brush off a lot of dust with these. These are rare. Hope you find more :) Thanks for all your posts!

RPN, IBC, and BBC should be returned to its rightful owners, the Benedictos.
carlistafilipino 4 years ago
RPN is CBN
BBC is ABS
both are from the Lopezes, the real and rightful owners Before the Marcos era.
IBC is for Benedicto, or rather the Soriano, since the Sorianos used to own befre being bought by the Benedictos.
