I remember this song when I went to East Atlanta High School, and was very young and thought everything in life would be wonderful, but it still makes me happy when I hear it!!!!
These young little wipper snappers don't know anything about this man you be at the house party man with a little cutie pie you been eying from across the floor and you all sharp and smelling good with your cologne double breasted cardigan and shark skin pants and knob toe shoes and your brim and you get her out on the dance floor and y'all are all hugged up

@jasonwheel This version was recorded in late 1968. But this wasn't the first version though. The first one was from a female vocalist named Lezli Valentine, who wrote most of the lyrics of the song. This version, recorded by Billy Brown (and two of the original Moments prior to Ray and Goodman joining) lingered until late 1969 after Ray and Goodman had joined and the song finally hit in early 1970.
this and lonel;y girl by eddie holman reminds me of going to a full blown party in h.s.basement when we were suppose to be in school 11 oclock in the morning i would always slow dance with mark r.i.p.we had parties back then with wall to wall niggas and nigetts everyone came home unscathed and a live.cant do that now young folks want to kill each other.good memories ill have forever.
I remember this song, bad azz, this is what music is. These guys put out some great tunes. Special Lady, Inside You, Happy Anniversary and She Left Me Standing.
Sometimes one of the most disturbing things in music is the dreaded sampling. Heard a truly frightening song today on the radio. It featured the use of Auto-Tune, Sampling, Rapping and Programming on the same song. The sample was from Curtis Mayfield's "Little Child, Running Wild". I'm all for the new generation creating a new genre, but this was a bit too much. But hey, keep on keeping on brothers and sisters. Some kind of new style is bound to come out of this. Fantastic post.
OMG I remember listening to this song when I was real young..Back when ppl. didn't think kids that young couldn't possible remember the hard times they've been through. The only song I remember about my bio. mother.
Hey this is when music was music. I had soul and could reach out and touch almost every one. There were so many good ones then. Betcha by Golly Wow and one of my all time favs the Chi-lites Have You Seen Her...
This song reminds me of my good friend Olga! she always use to play this in middle school, in her living room on her 45 recorder player. it was her favorite!
(cont.) Then in 1970, Billy Brown became a new member of the group alongside Al Goodman and Johnny Moore. After Moore became a no-show, Harry Ray joined the group. That's when their version became a hit so that lineup promoted it but it was only Brown on this version.

the songs back then had real true meaning. so good, smoothhhhh, and careing, with love and feeling. oh they can take you back to a time you can never get back. what a song..
A #1 hit for The Moments on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 210th #1 R&B song of the Rock Era. It also hit #3 on the Top 40 charts. The Moments would eventually evolve into Ray, Goodman, and Brown.
When i was 5 years old my grandma used to play songs like this all the time and this was one of her favorites , she also used to get beat by my stepgrandfather so badly beaten she got sick and died few years ago. Im 14 right now and nights likes this i think to myself and i cry and cry and listen to all the songs she used to love I miss her soo much... I<3 you Grandma
Respond to this video... This is the music I grew up with. I was in high school when this song came out. Where did all of the REAL LOVE songs go and the groups that sang them. What they are putting out now is just NOISE WITH A TUNE!
wOW LOST THAT LOVE ON A TWO WAY STREET, WHILE THE COUPLE WHO ENDURED, PERSEVERED, AND OVERCAME THE GROWING AND LEARNING PAINS OF A GENUINE LOVE RELATIONSHIP/ RAY, GOODMAN, AND BROWN SANG TO THEM "CELEBRATE OUR LOVE".
Help please. An old song "it's a great day" can't find anywhere. I know it exists I know the words. It's a great day that's dawning, something has happened to me that I have been wanting... anybody know it? Thanks
times have changed but this music can never be replaced. it's called history, and its part of my lfe, so lets enjoy it as long as we can. share with our kids and there children , we rock it back in the days .
please don't take this the wrong way. why is it that black singers don't sing like this anymore? today's voices don't have that soulful sound like back in the 60's and 70's.
THIS is WHAT is called real music! the dead junk/trash we hear today. cannot and will NOT ever measure up to this. all all the music of the 60's and 70's! that's what im talking about.
as a little girl of 9 or ten this song had me singing, i think it might be one the best love songs of all time. it is composed so beatifuly, older it got me thru and now memories flood in hearing it ,at 50+, lol
i'm a 34 yr old irish-chinese woman and i have always loved this music....i love all genres but this is my favorite...i'm telling ya i was born with the wrong soul.....lol.....i was lucky enough to have a very big mixed family that listened to everything then married a puerto rican man who also appreciates beautiful music

Respond to this video... This is the music I grew up with. I was in high school when this song came out. Where did all of the REAL LOVE songs go and the groups that sang them. What they are putting out now is just NOISE WITH A TUNE!

times have changed but this music can never be replaced. it's called history, and its part of my lfe, so lets enjoy it as long as we can. share with our kids and there children , we rock it back in the days .

please don't take this the wrong way. why is it that black singers don't sing like this anymore? today's voices don't have that soulful sound like back in the 60's and 70's.
