  • I'd rather lean how to ride a unicycle to get around before driving an American car!

  • knew i'd find uneducated hicks on here.

rank among the best in the world? my ass.

10 mpg for a pickup, rangerover beat jeep anyday of the week !

  • this man should be the next president ...he speakes the truth ...its ashame ppl today cant tell if the car they are driving or bought is american or not...toyota has been here so long on U.S. soil that ppl just think toyota is american ...what a bunch of fools

..if you want to keep a full belly and a job..buy american ..its that simple ppl

  • @390merc65 No, if you want to keep your job, buy Honda & Toyota!!! Emphasis on "KEEP YOUR JOB", which you won't be doing for long if your boss is sick of you calling in late to work because your WONDERFUL big 3 automobile broke down/would not start YET AGAIN!!!!!!!

  • @landyachtfan79 oh no..not another import cheerleader..your right..maybe i should lower my standards and buy a highly over engineered truck like a toyota so i can replace the rusted out frame in 8 years ..and maybe not all of american made cars were good..but not all of them were bad either ..poke around the internet and it will shock you to read ppl who bought imports also have troubles with them..and on top of that ,they are 3 times the expense to fix..now how's that treatin you???

  • @landyachtfan79 maybe i should buy a nissan with the sway bar that breaks , or a honda with cheap ball joints, or a lexus with bad , weak valve springs ,..i have owned nothing but american all my life and always will ..and yet i get to work each and everyday without trouble with a 35 year old ford f150..unlike my neighbor with his superior built honda that is on its second tranny with only 135k on it....oh and 1 more thing..i answer to no one...i am the boss ..and remember?.buy american

  • @390merc65 Um, may I remind you that your F-150 & your Grand Marquis are apart of 2 market segments that the big 3 have always EXCELLED AT, trucks & full size sedans?!!! You will never hear me bitch about those 2 vehicles!!!!! The cars that I take the most issue with are our economy cars & compacts. I feel that they were just born out of a knee-jerk, racist attitude of "we don't want them dayum furr-in cars here in 'Murr-ka"!!!! T

  • @landyachtfan79 its not my fault that honda and toyota can not compete in those class's ..and our econo cars were not just brought to lite to compete with the imports..we had econo cars since 1960 ..and some of our econo cars beat the imports at their own game ..i mean is a toyota yaris or a honda civic a world class car?,,they are cheap disposable cars like a focus or colbalt ..and i personally dont like small cars anyway

  • BUY American, or BYE America. It's as simple as that. If you don't support your own countries products, eventually you'll lose your country . That is a fact. By not buying American made automobiles because you percieve their quality to be lower than Japanese is incorrect. By buying non American made autos for spite is just stupid. If you want better quality from US manufacturers, demand it. Don't buy foreign cars to prove a point. It's like cutiing your nose off to spite your face.

  • fUCK AMERICAN CARS! PURE SHIT!

  • @sharkloaner Fuck you! Pure loser!

  • American cars suck due to the poor quality of steel used in them, which cannot compare to Japanese or German steel.

  • hondacivic1882, You really have it backwards. The steel on the Japanese and Korean cars are the weakest out there!

  • what? what the hell? noone has better steel than american, even other countrys will tell you this, dumbass

  • let the south rise again

  • For every patriotic American chanting "Buy American Cars", there is an equal number of unpatriotic idiots buying foreign. People just don't get it. If our industry fails, who would you like to see build our military vehicles? Japan? Russia? China? Wake up people, your coutry is relying on you to do the right thing, just as the Japanese expect their citizens to do the right thing and shun foreign made cars. Keep your hard earn dollars in America where it benefits our economy!

  • Shut up already redneck.. i will never buy another pile of junk American car BUILT in canada or mexico... nothing buy junk... GM sells vehicles all over the world and what if those countries said the same thing you are saying???.. buy their own??... another stupid comment by a Union whore... domestics are JUNK

  • Right on man, I only buy imports TOO not confrederate cars

  • RiceBurnersBaby....The junk is your short sightedness, pal. Why do you think we have an economic crisis? It's because WE DON'T BUILD ANYTHING anymore. Fully 30% of our economy is pushing paper from one bank to another, and in the end we ALL LOSE. Don't be ignorant of the facts. Support American manufacturing, PERIOD. Whether it'd be autos, steel, rubber, etc;.

  • If everything were made in the US then no one could afford it. Thus making everything extremely expensive. In an bad economic situation, businesses here in the united states need to learn something. It's called Flexing. A stone is to crack under high tension but rubber is to bend or dissipate the tension. Our economy is in the shape it is simply because some of loopholes that have appeared with the housing and banking. one crack leads to the other such people going loosing homes and money.

  • Keep telling yourself that when you lose youir job to foreign competition. You don't get it. The competition from foreign concerns is not competition at all. It is a TAKEOVER. What you call competition is really unfair trade. Our gvt hasn't done anything to protect American concerns and has done all it can to foster the huge trade imbalance we now have. Sooner our later it will burst, and the race to the bottom of the economic ladder will be complete. Cheaper doesn't mean better.

  • of course cheaper doesn't mean better. BUT the whole idea of another country taking over ours is unlikely unless it is an actual war. You need to get some real sunshine and stop believing this conspiracy bullshit. This is almost as bad as the 9/11 conspiracy. Which was already proven wrong countless times.

  • You're still missing the point. Once the reliability on foreign goods becomes too great to overcome, we've lost our economic position it the world. Once our manufacturing is so depleted we won't be able to defend ourselves without relying on foreign countries for materials & support. And you can see how the world views us now: arrogant, pompous, etc;. Just how much support we they be willing to give? Not much, given todays atmosphere and foreign relations. Who can we count on? Just ourselves!

  • @sep0507 All right, I will!!! At least I know that my Honda or Toyota will start & get me to the unemployment office & back home again!!!!!!!!!

  • @landyachtfan79 Yeah, well I hope you're an unemployed US autoworker. Maybe then you'd understand what it is to support your own industry. Buy American made! Everything, if possible. You know, I REFUSE to shop at Walmart. After seeing what they did to businesses out west, They'll never get a penny from me! And either will the Jap car companies.

  • Americans are not capable of anything, let alone building cars.

  • American companys are plenty of capable. Boeing, Lockheed, General Electric. Ya it kinda doesn't make sense of throwing aircraft companys in the mixture but there are alot of company's that have plenty of capability. And it all comes down to management. These are were domestic car companys fail.

  • hondacivic1992, capable enough to come up with this forum you are posting on. You should do a little reseach and read about your beloved Honda and how the company was founded as opposed to making stupid statements.

  • hondacivic1992....I remember back in the early 70's, Ford Motor Company took a lot of heat for using too much Japanese steel in the products, and rust was a major issue. The Japanese steel was a highly oxegenated form that was more prone to rust. Just look in any junk yard. You don't see very many 15 year old Jap cars on the road. And I've yet to see a Japanese classic! LOL They're disposable junk, sold at a price many people can't see past. And apparently, you're one of them.

  • blah blah blah blah. Come to get raped in an argument again? *sighs* as stupid as you may be and already have been. most automotive manufacturing facilities in the united states get their steel from similar if not then the same steel suppliers. The only type of steel that isn't prone to rust is like those found on the DMC-12 delorean. a cars actual corrosion resistance is determined by the paints and sealants used for corrosion resistance dickwad. Learn how to shit talk with intelligence

  • Nice try, nimrod. GM doen't buy jap steel. The Delorean died and was buried 30 years ago! LOL How can you cite such obscure statistics and claim to be "enlightened"? PPG and GM wrote the book on paints and corrosion. Sealants are used for water leaks, dumbo. Paints are finish materials that have NO value to fight rust. Ever see a neglected paint chip rusting? Bodies are dipped and plated with a rust inhibitor prior to primer and finish. It helps as long as there are no scratches to bare metal.

  • I already know all of that shit you stated. The point of that last comment wasn't to be super technical. it lays down the basic idea. And even so you were trying to state that the paint (primer, sealants, etc) have no important role in corrosion. Well, they do. Otherwise everything would be a heap of scrap metal. Nothing is technically waterproof however there are alot of things that can be water resistant. Those I stated being a major role.

  • Hey nimrod, I retired from GM Paint. There isn't anything you can tell me that 1) I don't already know,or 2) Is wrong. I never said Preimer, paints and sealants don't play a role in corrosion. I said they are not the end all to the corrosion problem. Just so you know, the Chevy Cobalt is almost 100% galvanized to fight corrosion. How many jap cars can say that?

  • I've still seen cobalts easily rusting outside in the parking lot near my work. And i don't give a shit if you worked in one of their plants. Just because you have worked in one spot doesn't mean that you know every god damn thing they do to build the cars. The cobalt is a aged unreliable piece of crap. Of course GM could have done better at the time but unfortunately, They didn't care. They haven't cared for a long time.

  • I worked in Trim, Chasis and Paint. I KNOW how cars are built. And you're a liar when you say you've seen Cobalts rusting! The only rust you may have seen is from damage or abuse by the owner, not production failures! Gee, the Cobalt had generally GOOD REVIEWS, so why you think it's an aged piece of crap is pure prejudice on your part. You're a jap car lover and will find fault when there isn't any with anything that isn't jap! You don't know a damn thing about US cars.

  • because it IS a piece of crap. The design is old and dated and hasn't sold as many units as its import competitors. If there might be another reason why it doesn't rust. It might be linked to all the damn plastic the car is made from. The stock cobalt isn't made that well. The Aveo is also terrible.

  • There are NO PLASIC body parts o the Cobalt. The Aveo is imported with Chevy name plate but no Chevy content. Cobalts don't sell well? I guess the need for 3 shifts is a waste of money then! They sell every car they produce.

  • noone is selling shit right now because mostly everyone is broke.

  • Cars are not normally big sellers during the winter months. Sales start to pick up around late Feb and March. But during the sales for clunkers, the US auto companies did pretty well depleting their inventories. Too bad the same can't be said of the jap cars.

  • A person i know works at the Toyota dealer and he told me that they have been selling extremely well. To bad obamas "stimulus" plan isn't going to do shit for our economy. Companies need to learn how to not suck dick with spending. And no there is no fucking conspiracy related to japanese auto companies downing our economy. They didn't do shit.

  • Here is proof

    watch?v=1Ufu_nQw-qM

notice how local businesses are all of a sudden booming. Especially in a recessive state.

  • That video is a year old! LOL What have they done for us lately?

  • of course it is old. The age of the video doesn't matter to me. The point it to proves does. That area was dead untill they opened that plant. The company has donated MILLIONS towards communities in only funds alone. Have the jobs added to the mix it is even more than that. You were trying to promote gospel in how the TAKE everything away. Which i already know is complete bullshit.

  • Let me explain something, nimrod. For every jap plant opened in this country, a US manufacturer closed one. Result, a negative employment rate for the auto industry, foreign or domestic. They took jobs away from cities like Flint, MI and gave them to a bunch of non union good ole boys in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, S. Carolina, etc;. So Americans DID get hurt, the ones whose jobs were taken away from them. Also, the jap transplants made it known that former union members would not be hired.

  • "for every jap plant opened in this country, a US manufacturer closed one" Wow and you claim you know how the auto industry works? Honda, Toyota, and Nissan work with thousands of other suppliers down the Line. Those suppliers are mostly AMERICAN companies. You keep trying to make it seem like they came here and destroyed everything. Which the idea is still is a load of hogshit. Oh wait. You are right GM did close some of their plants. So they can ship jobs overseas for cheaper labor.

  • Most You so called "Unionized" (UAW) workers won't have a job left because those greedy cocks up in corporate want to ship the shit overseas. for the nummi plant located in California. Toyota tried to keep it alive by offering more vehicles to GM rebadged under the Pontiac. But since GM had to get rid of the Pontiac brand. There was no reason to keep it alive since most of the suppliers are in the mid west. Was this toyotas fault? Nope it was actually GM's

  • We used to build Cavaliers for Toyota. They even had their own Inspection Dept. What a waste of time and effort on GM's part to appease Toyota. NO matter what the plant produced, they didn't want our cars, but they don't want to be restricted importing their crap here. The trade imbalance on just automobiles is ridiculous. The Nummi plant was a joint venture that failed, more so because of Toyota than GM. GM couldn't wait for that contract to end! It was a failure, period.

  • The toyota cavalier was re badged in GM's hope to get more into the japanese car market. It failed because it wasn't that good of a car in the first place. The joint venture actually failed because there really wasn't a negotiable medium between the two automotive giants. It was mostly GM's fault because of the company not being able to maintain its Over bloated size. They didn't even need as many brand as they had. But they also shouldn't of ever gotten rid of Pontiac. That will be regretful.

  • Brand GM should of gotten rid of (some they already did):

Buick, Hummer, Saab, GMC (same fucking shit as Chevrolet),

Or what they could of done is get rid of the Chevy nameplate and use GMC instead. Since the name sounds better than Chevy and starts with the word GM. It's a shame though that they can't even be this strategic. Who even drives saab's? Fuck Saab. good thing they got rid of that shit. and half the crap on the buicks could easily be rebadged as Cadillac.

  • But even the Nameplate cadilac has been ruined since GM has made countless shit cars under that nameplate. Buicks are obviously for old people. GM would need to have a sleeker more sexyer luxury brand name, Something that could actually compete with the top dogs, Acura, infinity, and lexus. Acura by far has the best interior layouts.

  • How did you come up with that ridiculous statement? Cadillac was named Moter Trend Car of the Year! Buicks have always been marketed towards the older generations, but is coming around and their quailty is second to none, better than Lexus! And that's according to JD Powers! Lexus, Infinity, Acura, all brands geared towards those with means & money. Wjhat about the other 80% of Americans that can't afford those types of vehicles?

  • then the 80% should own the sedan/mini SUV variant that isn't badged under the luxury nameplate. What are modern luxury cars? Refined versions of its cousin counterparts with more advanced technologies. Such as Acuras SH-AWD (super handling all wheel drive). or Acura linked satellite navigation. Theirs even a adjustment setting with the technology package that you can save on them that readjusts seating positions to the original state set by the user.

  • Ive loaded a few things into the CTS. The first thing they should have done was give it larger trunk space. My 2 door accord has way more space than that WITH the twin subs i have in the back. They have also been having once again. More trouble with the transmissions. People have reported their CTS's getting stuck in third gear.

  • The reason why i said they should get rid of the Buick nameplate. Is because every time a consumer will think about it. They will think of a grandma who drives one in Florida. Not a very attractive way to get a product out towards the consumer. The acura/infinity brands have had a far more solid reputation than GM has had with all of its cars that have failed under the Buick name in reaching the younger audience.

  • That's why GM has restyled and redesigned the Buick line. It IS more up to date and leads all cars in quality ratings from JD Power. Look at the Corvette, one of the finest engineered cars on the road, bar none. The average age of a Corvette buyer is 50. Todays young people aren't interested in Corvettes, they're prefer the Fast & Furious "Tuner Cars" because they're so impressionable. Like BIG White Hats from Shaft, it's a fad and will eventually GO AWAY. As will the love for the jap cars.

  • and no you are right. I don't see alot of 15 year old jap cars. Instead I see mostly 25-30 year old jap cars still running.

  • And what dream is that where you see all those 30 year old jap cars still running? LOL In case you didn't know, the first hondas were CHAIN DRIVE, not even a driveshaft!

  • of course they were. And when they tested the S500 on the dyno. Most of the people were scratching their heads because it broke the fucking dyno. Honda motor Co. isn't technically a car company. They are a power plant manufacturer. And one of the few companies that built their own engines, and body for the Formula 1 series at the time. The only other ones that did the same were ferarri and 1 or 3 others.

  • Who would you like to see build ou rmilitary vehicles??? Are you dumb? how do you think our products have been made these past years. Why do you think outsourcing is on the rise? Do you even know what outsourcing is? America brought this buy Foreign shit on itself. Should have thought twice before trying to find a cheap way out.

  • @sep0507 Well, did you think that maybe we "unpatriotic idiots" would much rather have a car that can be trusted to start every day & not be in the shop every other day than blindly buying substandard vehicles just for the sake of patriotism?!! Like it or not, the reputation of American cars precedes them & it is going to take a lot more than "Buy American" cries from racist bigots to convince us that American cars are worth our hard earned money again!!!!!!!!

  • @landyachtfan79 maybe you dont get the news were you live..because if you did..you will see toyota having recalls almost daily...ford and GM has greatly improved on everything,,but stubborn ppl just wont admit to the fact's..toyota rode on its reputation way to long,,and now that facts are showing threw..its ironic to see toyota spent almost as much money on recalls as ford made profit ...the sheeple,,yes [sheeple] of america have been lead by the toyota nose for to long ..toyota sucks

  • @390merc65 Well, isn't it rather strange & goddamn convenient how we NEVER heard about ANY major issues with Toyota (or Honda, I might add) until GM & Chrysler began their little free-falls into bankruptcy?!!!

  • @landyachtfan79 you might want to believe it is some secret conspiracy like we are out to get them ..but there is a flaw in your thinking..toyota is having recalls even on their own soil in japan and has nothing to do with us ,,and it is a fact toyota was hiding safety documents and knew all to well long before anything happened that they were getting complaints and toyota pushed it off as driver error ,,then it was a floor mat , then gas pedal .,toyota does not want to admit fault..

  • Ford for life!!!!!!!

  • i hate when american's say, buy american, its sick, its a slap in the face to the other countries that make cars, its clear american's dont like there cars , lets face it, about everyone you know has a car not made here, so gm ford and chrysler need to get over it, there cars suck and they will never sell as much cars as the other forgien companys,

  • Unlike a lot of users here I'm going to be rational. German and Japanese cars are excellent products. They are reliable, stylish, and perform very well. But our car companies, namely GM, Ford, and Chrysler, make equally good cars these days. I agree with Dave Sinclair in that Big 3 cars are just as good as the best from overseas. Just shop around, compare them all, and you'll be able to testify. But above all, by buying American I'm supporting my country and that's what makes the difference.

  • youre right. i guess all of the people that have all of the different consumer reports and surveys are all wrong when they say that. its pretty easy to see where your loyalty lies.

  • American cars best in the world???? hahahaaaaaaa

  • Thats not to mention the new 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan Hybrid that crushes anything that Toyota has even thought about with its MID SIZED car that gets 41 miles per gallon city and 37 miles per gallon highway thats over 700 miles per tank. You are telling the same old old old story people like you have relied on when you purchase something that only floods our country with more cars then it can sell. I guess thats why they have stopped importing. The US cannot hold anymore excess cars

  • fusion in the KBB rankings were no where near the corolla they were second to last. And the Civic of course like honda does with their extremely sound engineering Hit the #1 spot obliterating everything in its path. Did i also mention how it outsold every other compact in its class? People know what they are getting when they buy one. A high quality product. There is no secret to record smashing sales. Just make a product that everyone wants. And thats where ford and GM has failed to do so.

  • Thats why toyota just recalled your car.

  • I don't own a car from toyota dipshit. We actually did used to own a chevy van. The transmission was shot and it didn't even reach 100k miles.

  • EpiDemic117...Probably from carring too much dumb weight!

  • ok?

  • so anyone that bought a DODGE/CHRYSLER the last 7 years when they were owned by Daimler Benz

is UNAMERICAN as the headquarters of DAIMLER IS IN GERMANY !!

  • So at what point do you take information and read it word for word, or listen to it word for word? When did this clip ever talk about 7 years ago or if you bought a DODGE/CHRYSLER you were "UNAMERICAN". This was just letting you and others think for a second before buying what it means to all of us and our jobs when you buy a vehicle that is sold for the benefit of a foreign country vs. one that is produced and benefits our lively hood. You apposing this clip is whats "UNAMERICAN".

  • don't shoot the messenger

    im shooting FACTS

DAIMLER CORPORATION headquarters is in GERMANY

    true or false ?

  • I buy toyota because it will last longer thats it. Not because I am unamerican but because I am an intelligent shopper. Make a quality american car with some new technology and maybe I'll buy it. But no they just "redesign" american cars and use technology thats 30-40 years old. Lets think about that.

  • Show me some facts to back that up...even the great Consumer reports tell you that my Ford Fusion and my Mercury Milan are rated better for service. Your Toyota just recalled over a million of your greatly engineered Yaris thats 1,000,000. Our technology has far exceeded your toyota also with the Mercury Mariner with the highest safety ratings and with the highest fuel economy in its class too....hmmm this about that.

  • I owned one of them. I bought it used and paid $8,000.00 and after owning it for 2 years Toyota recalled it and gave me a free rental for 60 days then cut me a check for $11,500.00 for a truck that had 173,000 miles on it. Also note that nobody was injured to cause this recall. They let me take anything off the truck that I had put on. I mean ford made thousands of Crown Victorias that killed officers and recommended incorrect tire pressure in the explorer then tried to blame it on Firestone.
