My favourite version is Paul Young's rendition of the song in 1986 (see link) - Paul Carrack is on keyboard and supporting vocals. Paul Carrack is an outstanding singer, musician and songwriter.

Nice version, he has the right voice for this song. Just remember that the tune is so evocative and the words are actually clever, poetic and relevant. Crowded House and Split Enz were truly talented.
