  • I've got a pre-Hillary hole 686+ made in 1998 with the 6 inch barrel. It's a badass handgun and is my pistol of choice over my others.

  • Awesome gun....like the way you hold the gun up and close so we all can get a good look at it.

  • Any problems with the internal lock?

    Thanks

  • I've got the 6" barrel, beauty of a weapon, took it out of the box, cleaned it, loaded and did some target practice, 5 out of 7 hits on a knockover stand first time with no adjustments

  • I have the same pistol but 8 and 1/8 love it

  • Very nice weapon. Hard to get the likes of that in Australia..lol and its silver

  • Its a nice gun ! it will be on my next purchase list

  • L for "lock" Just coincidental its a L frame

  • Was the unfluted cylinder a special version? Or is that the way they make the 5" version?

  • Can you use +p+ ammo in this revolver?

  • yes you can use and rolingpoint too

    FABIO MORETTI BRAZIL-SP

    CBC

  • im wet

  • I also have a 686 and love it. I want to know about your finish, is it a special finish? Your 686 looks much more reflective and shinny than mine?

  • @DamienX84 The weapon is brushed stainless steel. The Piece achieves its luster from cleaning and polishing cloths. After cleaning the weapons cylinder, and barrel, I then rub all the steel parts down with Birchwood Casey Lead Remover & Polishing Cloth. This removes most of the dirt embedded in the steel. Then I rub the weapon down with a Metal Care Cloth from Pro-Shot, which cleans & polishes the weapon further. I use Birchwood Casey Gun & Reel Silicone Cloth for light detail work.

  • @SilverFreedom1776

Thank you very much I will have to pick up those products and put a little more elbow grease into cleaning my gun! The end of your cylinder is immaculate, mine is almost black. I guess it was just the cleaning technique and products.

  • i've got the same gun with a Six-Inch barrel. Baddest gun I own. but my cylinder is fluted... =(

  • That's a beauty!!!

  • Did you polish the gun (especially the top part of the barrel)? I have the same model, but yours looks more reflective than mine. How is the cylinder gap?

  • Comment removed

  • Have you ever tried to use this for a concealed carry weapon?

  • beautiful piece of machinery. i love the full underlug. i myself have a smith 357 with the 8.38 barrel. these pistols are truly works of art.

  • that's a sweet looking handgun, i just purchased my own 686-plus 4'' model, looking forward to picking it up right after new years. great video!

  • Extremely informative video, sir. Beautiful gun. Thanks for taking the time! :-)

  • Very, very nice presentation. I have a 3 inch 686 Plus an I love it!!

  • Love the smooth even cylinder.

  • Just bought my Smith & Wesson 357 686,but I have the 6" barrel.I love the gun.Great review.

  • I've owned a 5" 686+ for 11 years, and I still found this review interesting and useful. Good job explaining the king of 357 magnums.

  • 1 person could not afford it.

  • Great video. In case of emergency,Pull this. Great new catch phrase for S&W. If I find that on a bumper sticker, it will be going on the back of my truck.

  • best looking gun i have ever seen, I just ordered one of these

  • its hand gun not hangum

  • Thanks! What's the item# on the gun?

  • Grea gun!!i have a 627 performance v comp...

  • Where do you need such a handgun for?

Are you so afraid in life?

  • @hoipiepeloiification

Has your life ever been threatened? Have you ever had to defend yourself against attackers? Do you believe there is real EVIL in this world?

  • Nice gun man! What's the model # on that revolver?

  • @islandsoljahz 686-6

  • wow beautiful

  • LOVE the unfluted cylinder...

  • Who made your holster? I have a 686 plus in a 3" barrel.

  • A VERY well done video ...you covered it all ...nice smooth presentation.

  • that's a bad mutherfucker

  • ya

  • no joke, I ducked at 3:09. Great gun, great review.

  • @Defender78 are you fucking retarded??

  • @oObassheadOo c'mon dude, act middle class. Thanks.

  • @Defender78 i refuse....why do all you shit heads find it interesting to discuss where the fuck they point guns...its safe direction cause its a fucking camera!!!! loaded or not...if you where just trying to be funny then i apologize for calling you out...

  • @oObassheadOo It's 2011. He can be whatever he wants to be.

    Don't be racist.

  • @JustineBieberxoxo when was i racist

  • @oObassheadOo You are racist against the retard race.

  • Thank you for showing your gun, I learned a bit from you.

May I suggest a tad less redundancy? 5:45 for example. You've just pointed out the "gripy" grips and the etchings on the hammer and cylinder release and then you immediately repeated what you just said giving the scenario of shooting with wet hands.

  • 725 out the door? Not in California! I paid $900 out the door (with tax & tip). Nice review, in any event.

  • 725 out the door? Not in California! I paid $900 out the door (with tax & tip).

  • the eight round 357 is the 627 model

  • mucho bla bla bla!!

  • Just got one for my 21st, taking it to the range this weekend. Can't wait!

  • Beautiful gun, but that "L" is for "LOCK". I have a J-frame with an L in the exact same spot!

  • Is it possible to get this revolver with fixed sights?

  • Great review :-)

  • Very good review!! I currently carry a Ruger SP101, but I know that this will be my next revolver for the night stand.

  • i really appreciate this review. i have always been a ruger fan boy mainly because of the price. S&W makes a sweet revolver though. If I were to get a S&W it would be that exact one except with a fluted cylinder.

  • I have a 686. Not sure what "Dash" number it is though. Does yours have the "Dash" number imprinted right after your model number?

  • im truly torn between what i want my first gun to be. this is a beast without question but ive had my eye on the sw M&P 40. both are great affordable guns but i just cant decide which to get first. any suggestions?

  • Great video thanks!

  • Sweet. I can tell you are proud of your bby. These are neglected and underrated by the Polymer generation

  • Great Review! I did buy the SW 686 I was thinking about when I watched your video. I have 14 semi-auto pistols and I just purchased my first revolver. I bought the SW 686 Plus with 4" barrel. I couldn't be more pleased. It is now my favorite handgun to shoot. Reliable, very accurate, and oh soo much power. The only problem is that it is a bit more expensive to shoot than my 9mm pistols. Great fun to shoot and the best trigger you could want. Smith & Wesson rocks!

  • Great review. You gave good information on the firearm and presented it well explaining the ins and outs. Thumbs up, subscribed.

  • You look like a Batman villain. I will call you...Mister Grin.

  • Does it accept moon clips?

  • Very Nice piece! I bought a simular one last year from a friend, he's had it since the 80's, it still looks new, these things not only look good now but will still 30 yrs from now! I like your videos bro.

  • Great video! Very informative. I do not know your views on firearms in a household with children, but I believe it is smart to teach children gun safety so they can respect and be safe around a firearm if they ever come in contact with one, be it yours or someone else's. Just my two cents.

  • Very nice. I may want to get another revolver now.

  • Enjoyed your video, Well Done!

I'm looking at a Smith & Wesson 686 Plus 4" barrel. This will be my first revolver.

  • @Chuck23250 i just picked up a 686 plus 4" and i couldnt be more pleased. Do it

  • i got a 629 classic god i love smiths

  • @homelessguy01 truly beautiful and durable pieces very strong guns i love smiths more than ruger or taurus smith is my favorite

  • I just feel a bit uncomfortable with that loaded 357 mag pointing at me...lol

  • BTW is over 200 more here in Canada but I'll own one anyway:) Great video mate!!!

  • Superb firearm!!! I'm getting one soon:) with unfluted c.

  • Oh, and have you tried shooting just the regular .38 rounds? If so, did it foul up a lot more?

  • Do you reckon you could take a man sized target at 100 yards with that revolver? tried that kind of distance yet?? cheers

  • Great Video, great review, beautiful gun, nice holster!

  • I paid around 725 out the door.

  • @SilverFreedom1776 Was that new? Sounds like a great deal compared to MSRP on the Smith&Wesson website. How did you score that deal? (I'm new to guns)

  • @SilverFreedom1776 Got the exact same gun, and I love it ! Awesome video !

  • @SilverFreedom1776 Beautiful gun, thank you for posting. I was wondering if the 5" version that you have is as long as a 5" government model 1911? I don't know if the measuring reference points on a revolver would make it same length as a semi automatic. Thank you.

  • How much does this cost looking forward to buying one

  • I will be purchasing this gun but mine will be the 6 inch... my first gun ever. It sounds like I have made an excellent choice. Is about $830.00 a good price?

  • This, is aweome. What did it cost you?

  • awesome review mate

  • @xeotech1

This handgun is very similar to the one you're talking about. I searched for a while for a S&W 686P with a 5 inch barrel with the same cylinder. The one you're talking about, distributed my TALO, has a wood handle and the one he has has a rubber handle.

  • For anyone interested in purchasing this exact handgun, look at Smith and Wesson model number: 150854

Talo Limited Edition 686 PLUS 3-5-7 Magnum Series 5" Unfluted Cylinder!

  • @xeotech1 Thanks for adding this information.

  • I think what you have there is a 686 Plus Talo Limited Edition... I just bought your exact gun, 5" unfluted cylinder. It came with custom Talo wood grips however it looks like you've got the Hogue Monogrips. AWESOME AWESOME gun I love it !

  • Oh, god. So beautiful!.. Without doubt the most beautiful firearm. EVER.

I can't even imagine how it feels like holdin' it! Is the kick bad when firin' it?

  • @OnceNaHMonkey It shoots as well as it looks. The recoil is very manageable when firing .357 mag. Thanks for commenting.

  • Been looking everywhere for a 5 inch barrel 357 mag but no one seems to have one!

  • Excellent review... that unfluted cylinder looks beautiful.

  • Shiny shiny.... you must clean the fuck out of that gun... NICE :D

  • The L does not stand for "lock" but it is just a Model designation. J Frame, K Frame, L frame, and N Frame are or were a part of the S+W revolver production line. Nice video...

  • That cylinder is SMOOOOKING......

  • My God, that is a beautiful handgun. The 5" barrel with a full underlug gives it great proportions, and the unfluted cylinder looks great in the polished frame. I love the 7-round capacity as well. I had been looking for a good used Model 10 or 15 .38 special, but this video just convinced me that the 686+ 5" will be my next firearm purchase.

  • mine is a 6 shot, and its chrome.

  • the L stands for LOCK... see the arrow ointing counterclockwise!

  • @jacobsonp Thank you for that. I realized this after I bought an N frame and it still had the L etched in the frame.

  • The 686 with an unfluted cylinder is just awesome, Real piece of art.

  • i own the same one..but my grips are custom made wood

  • Hello, do not be if there is note the difference of weight that exists between the S&W686 4 ", 5 " and 6 "; especially with regard to 5 "; 4 " it is heavier than 5 " because? Thank you.

    check S&W page

  • I think that the 5'' unfluctued barrel is the best proportions for a revolver. I think the 4'' too shorty, and the 6'' awful maniability and practicality.

  • VERY IMPORTANT INQUIRY can the regular L FRAME 686 6 shot model be configured to a 7 shot like yours? perhaps a 7 shot "PLUS" cylinder can be swapped with the stock 6 shot cylinder ? please respond with details when u can

    THANKS!!!!!

  • @Miguelsr1rst I believe the 7 shot cylinder is the same size as the 6 shot cylinder, so it should fit with in your L frame revolver. Currently your revolver is timed for the cylinder to rotate for your six shot. You need a gunsmith or Smith & Wesson to adjust your revolver to a 7 shot. You might want to call around for estimates. As for purchasing the 7 shot cylinder, you should be able to contact smith and wesson for pricing. Last I heard they were around $260 plus shipping.

  • @SilverFreedom1776 Hi can a regualr non gunsmith recalibrate the 6 shot to a 7 round timing with all the needed tools? this is prolly a far shot but worth the question.

  • @Miguelsr1rst To my knowledge, no. You would need a gunsmith to adjust the timing to a seven shot. After buying a new cylinder and paying for a gunsmith to adjust the timing, It might be worth it to buy a 7 shot Smith and wesson. You might be able to find a good used one for around 550-600.

  • @SilverFreedom1776 how much does it cost to get brand new unused in the box my friend? :) im considering just gettin gone wiht your advice :)

  • CAN THAT SHOOT 44 MAGNUM AMMO

  • @TheMrhotcutesexyboy it shoots .357 magnum and 38 special.

  • high

  • This is my second favourite review of the 686. After the nutnfancy review. Nice work dude. Hi from Australia!

  • @gutts077 That nutnfancy review is also my favorite. Thanks for watching, Cheers!

  • ive admired the 686 in numerous different shapes and sizes but this is d most handsome 1 ive ever seen!!!

  • Only Clint Eastwood should own this gun.

  • Great video. I just picked up a 686P 6" myself recently. Its actually just arrived at the FFL and I need to go get it!

I really liked the points you mentioned, and you stated them clearly and concisely. Thumbs up!

  • @wdahm519 Hey thanks!

You better pick it up fast, that 686p is one hot commodity.

  • just bought one for 250. the same one but mine is a little darker. like a fridg.

  • @1515alanruiz You lucky #%$# you. Nice pick up.

  • Informative video and very nice looking .357! Just bought the same model in a 4" version. I have to say that the 5" barrel and unfluted cylinder are very unique and make for an awesome looking handgun. Will look for more of your vids....

  • Hi, sorry if I am persistent. Does the S & W686 in 5 inch 6 shot (357magnum) and unfluted cylinder?.

    SAludos!

  • Thanks for the reply, have a good day.

  • Fantastic !

  • @artdeco101010 Thank you. She is fun to shoot.

  • Sorry for my English, Are still manufactured in 5 inches and unfluted? and How much it cost? thanks.

  • @lufando I believe the 686 5inch barrel with unfluted cylinder is manufactured in a limited amount every year. They can be found online, but you might be better off calling smith and wesson fire arm dealer to see if he can order one for you. You should be able to find a new 686 unfluted for $ 750 - $900.

  • Hi, good video, sorry, are you sure that S & W686 5 "and not 6?. Because according to what I've read, there is no 5 ". Greetings

  • @lufando Yes, this is a 686 plus 5" barrel. .357 mag. Thanks.

  • Bravo, well done!

  • Sorry to hear you are having so much touble with your S&W semi autos. I think of smith and wesson as a company that makes great revolvers. They are smooth and accurate, with a great trigger pull. Smith and wesson has been making revolvers forever, and it shows.

  • im a new fan of revolvers and i recently purchased the smith 44 mag 629 5" beautiful.... im thinking of buying the 686 plus next.... nice vid.... that revolver looks very clean... nice...

  • @aj45colt 5" A 44 mag with a full under lug sound like a beauty..The quality, along with the fit and finish of the 686plus only has one rival, and that is the colt python. I would love a python, but would never shoot it. The 686plus 5" offers all the best features of a quality 357, and is fun to shoot, The Ruger GP100 is nice, but lacks the fit and finish of the smith and wesson, and also lacks a 7 round cylinder.

  • That's a tough 686P. 5" Solid cylinder right?

  • @Jody434 Thats right, 5" barrel and solid unfluted cylinder. Holds 7 rounds, and drives tacks.

  • @SilverFreedom1776 I wanted one like that but I couldnt find one when I was ready to buy. Got a 4" 686P. It is a tack driver indeed and rivals my 6" Python. I would love to have a solid cylinder though.

  • @Jody434 IMy story is very similar. When I went to the gun shop I was looking for a 4" 686P, and they had the 5" unfluted. Well, before I found the 5" 686P I called, or went to every gun shop around the area, and nobody had the 686P. So after being on such a quest to find that gun, when I saw a dealer selling the 5" inch 686P, I said: "I'll take it."

  • smith and wesson 686 plus..O boy. You can't go wrong with one of those.

  • Thanks, I'm looking for another weapon soon. I was thinking about a rifle or the s&w M&P. Don't know which cal. yet. though.

  • @SilverFreedom1776 i bought a SW MP40c, which i'm not a big fan of it. i'm actually trying to get rid of it. i've sent the gun back to SW twice, and the problem still exist. the weapon would jam after every other rd, i've swapped mags and different types of ammo, and the problem still exist. i also have a problem with the SW1911PD w/ rail, it would have a FTF on the last rd of a full mag. not a big SW semi auto fan now, however maybe their revolver line is different.

  • Thats a great gun. I rather have my Kimber .45 silver though :-)
