ha ha i used to caddy for mr freeman gosden the creator of these shows and original amos and andy radio characters. he was funny on the golf course as wel often using his radio voices while playing at cypress point where i caddied for him.

To the insecure hypocrites who insisted these shows be removed from television: you didn't have the foresight to appreciate that these highly talented people were working their craft, something YOU didn't have and you deprived THEM to have about a 1,000 more shows that featured total baffoonery, need we name them? We've gone from bad to worse. Besides shows of that era featured silly men with really intelligent wives and besides IT WAS COMEDY, GREAT COMEDY! YOU DID NOT SPEAK FOR ME!

if this show is racist, then Sienfield is Anti-Semitic. This show is still making people laugh, this in and of itself is reason enough to celebrate the comedy genius of this show. Everyday people are a lot more sophisticated then liberal facists would like to believe.

They were comic genius's. It was a time of innocence. For the record I knew of no black people who thought the show offensive.

It was just plain old good fun, and laughs.

Even Redd Fox says he got a lot of his material from Amos and Andy, and it was a mistake to take the show off the air.

This was a great program, and I never get tired of watching it.

I think its ironic, that the NAACP felt this show was racist against blacks, when the only white person in this episode, was the crooked car salesman.

The background laughing *was* real. These shows were shown to an actual audience, and the laugh tracks were recorded and then inserted into the audio track. Many of the lines were stepped on by the laughter because even the performers didn't know how funny they were.

These black actors were naturals and the writers absolutely superb. Even the the background laughing sounds real, unlike the manufacted laughs today.

Why was this wonderful gem series ever taken off? Comedy at its very best - the like of which is never created today. All we can view it in now is this awful fifteenth hand quality, sacrilege for such genius. Can't ANYONE get the original negs?

Too bad because these great actors never made it after they were removed from the air. I am surprised Sanford and Son was every made with such thin skin people. Today's comedy has to insult everyone including down syndrome children by liberals.
