ok 1 d16 is sohc they come vtec and non vtec i have a d16 vtec in my 92 civic ex ur thinking abuot the b16 thats vtec and non vtec b16s are dohc the d16 isnt dohc only sohc
@srh420666 YOU WRONG MAN, D16Z5 ITS A DOCH JUST LIKE THE ZC ENGINE THE D16Z6 ITS A SOCH MOST D SERIES ARE SINGLE CAM WITH AN EXCEPTION OF THIS ONES D16A1, D16A3, D16A8, D16A9 and D16Z5 AND THE ZC
do not underestimate the power of si!may be they dont have v-tec but they run as well nice if they tuned right!v-tec has the advantge in tunning because can produce much more torgue and hp from the endless aftermarket parts......
powerdhonda@ d16z5 is DOHC-no v-tec,actually org. the weakest DOHC in Europe,A good D-serie Dohc must be faster in first 3 gears than a b16a1,he's got that 100 kg less weight,excp...about the gearbox,it's diffrend than the SI gearbox-D16Z5 gearbox is much shorter,so he give the B-series good competition..
unless the b16a lost compression, there's no way, the d16z will beat it., d16z5 peak at 130@6800.(7200 redline) and b16a1 159@7600. (8200 redline) and engine weight is not much different. and tranny the zc use si tranny or any d series tranny and b16a use Y1/S1/J1 (could be gsr or ls) which gear ration are closer then zc. and should get out the hole faster. but i didn't hear the vtec, both engine sound the same, just curious what its done on zc.
@rx7turbo287 Theer is also a big difference in weight. The D16z5 CRX is about 900kg. The B16a1 CRX is 1010 kg. More than 100k'g's so that makes a lot of difference too!!!

D16z5 is almost the same as d16a9.
d16z5 is low emission version. it has catalytic converter. i removed it from mine. d16z5 can be real pain in the butt for many cars.
its none-vtec. just pure doch
