  • I stopped watching your video after I saw the "straight and married" thing pop up above your head. Why on EARTH would you put that there if this is a response to a horrific happening where a young boy gets killed because of his sexual orientation. Would it matter if we thought you were gay, too? I guess so. So then what's the point in even making the video? I have so many things I could say to you, but I'll be the mature one and leave it with what I already put.

  • @baileysababy6 And I have to point out the obvious here. Making a judgment on me based off an assumption without asking why doesn't make you mature because you didn't opt for negatively acting on your assumption.

Do not assume anything from a little fact popping up, especially when something to add transparency to where the person is coming from. You don't know me; it's best to before jumping on a high horse and ride off in to the sunset from a person you didn't exchange a single word with.

  • @baileysababy6 I put that up there because

    A) lots of comments & messages that could be easily avoided by saying I'm married and straight, as that is the case.

    B) It seems like there are fewer straight than gay saying what I did.

If you want to judge me for putting up a couple facts about myself and then ASSUMING why then that's you're problem, not mine.

  • daw8653- 100% agreed.

  • People in this nation didn't die so that you can call someone a fag, but also people in this nation didn't die so that you can call someone an idiot. Practice what you preach.

  • @daw8653 Idiot is a word, NOT a slang; and used in specific context that fits it's definition.

But you're right; I shouldn't speak up when people are abusing a right and using a word with a specific definition.I did practice what I preached, and there's a big "IF" attached; not ignorance.

  • wow, i couldn't agree more!!

  • A Coward hide behind Freedom of Speech,

A Courageous person stands up and defends that right for others.

    Good job, man.

  • Right! And killing should never be allowed

  • Thankyou so much. You are absolutely right! I really appreciate people like you. We need more people like you in the is world. I love the ending part.....very wonderful.

  • Thats for being intelligent

  • Excellent!!! Scripture was never meant to be used as ammunition. I'm a Christian, but seem to have developed a serious aversion to the all too common Christian hypocrite. Nice points.

  • A very good point! :-)

  • Thanks for teh message, you are only too right. And you are hot! :)

  • I totally agree with you, you showed us how to think and express ourselves!! it is cool, I wish other people could do the same than you!

  • I totally agree. You're awesome. People need to stop abusing their right to freedom of speech and need to have more of an open mind. I really hate what America is becoming. We seem to run on stereotyping. It's so lame. People need to focus more on themselves.

  • I really like how you project your thoughts and feelings. I'm glad that you said that freedom of speech is not a way to defend yourself. I think you're right. It's all political. I'm waiting for gay marriage to be legal, but not as much as I'm waiting for everyone to accept me for who I am. The law wouldn't matter then if people would accept others for who they are. Thank you for this video.

  • I am amazed how you talk out for all your believes. and I admire your standing up to people like admir2323, instead of just deleting their comments. it makes me so angry to read the arguements given there. Happy to see there are Americans (And I BET IT#S NOT TO LITTLE) that actually have a brain lol.

  • Wolverine will you train me please?

  • lol and i did forget to give you props on this lesson, and i love chicago. grew up there and live in texas.

  • not only for govt, but for exchange of ideas. lets read our founding fathers quotes here.

  • Lesbian and in a relationship...and i have to say that this is an interesting theory you got. Realistic..

  • you are a wise man. i agree with you.

oh and the beggining was kinda funny it says "straight and married"

  • I agree with you, 100%. Thank-you for this post.

  • not to be rude but "the south" isn't just one big state there are differing views in every state and county for that matter some areas are more resistant to change than others

  • You're right... It was a generalization only meant to show that there is still a wide separation in thoughts when it comes to the north and south in some regards. That's all; not a wide brush to cover unique areas... I only had 10 minutes :)

  • Freedom of speech is the only reason we are as far as we are in terms of gay rights, civil rights, race rights ect. Don't throw them away with such disregard. Just because an idiot claims it as a defense doesn't mean it's bad, it means that the persons an idiot. If someone says something stupid, don't tell them to shut up, say something smart.

  • Didn't say throw it out, undeserving is point. Everyone deserves a gun under the Constitution, if they misuse it, it can be taken away... There are laws regarding the misuse of freedom of speech, one of them being hate speech, and under these terms of violation, they are taken away via prison time, or fines... It's obvious to point out what freedom of speech has provided an environment for... but what is not obvious is it's limitations, given "freedom" is in the name.

  • The only speech you should not be allowed to use is speech that DIRECTLY causes a person to become in immediate hard ie ordering a murder or creating an unsafe situation shouting fire in a crowded movie theater. Is it mean to call someone names, yes. Should ppl do it, no. Do they have the right to, yes. How do you stop it, stand up to them and be smarter. No one should go to jail for saying something mean, otherwise the entire junior high population would be incarcerated.

  • Please, read up on law, because yay for your opinion of the matter, but yes, people can be jailed for saying "mean" things, if the intent is to harm another person, physically or mentally, or if they show reckless abandon... If you are going to post comments, make them relevant and educated, please. It's not wise to try to "1-up" me, only making obvious points in some areas (junior high), and showing disregard for the judicial side of content in the video.

  • Brandenburg v. Ohio

    National Socialist Party v. Skokie

    Cohen v. California

    R.A.V. v. St. Paul

I don't mind having level headed debates with people, but don't call me uneducated or suggest I have a misunderstanding of the law. Read the cases they're all on the web. They support my arguments.

As I said before there is one exception to the freedom of speech and that is speech that DIRECTLY causes a violent act. Message board vile just doesn't meet that standard.

Cite cases that prove me wrong.

  • I already did my research... Look harder. I don't need to cite anything. Also, the government may prohibit some speech that may cause a breach of the peace or cause violence. That is not just one exception. As far citing cases that prove what I said was true... Look up the law, already did before I made the video. My job isn't to make you feel good about being wrong, if you really believe you are right, change your search terms.

  • You are a very arrogant person. And it saddens me that you are so dismissive of other peoples points of view. I hope that you can open up your mind to the possibility that you may have spoken out of turn.

I think the thread clearly shows that I am willing to back up my points with evidence, whereas you are more interested in making personal attacks as to my intelligence and the intelligence of anyone that disagrees with you.

For someone who dislikes religious zealots, you sure play the part.

  • I'm not dismissive... I have just done research, and I know where the law stands, and you have said there should be only "one" exception and there are multiple. When I referenced the other restrictions, it was from Cornell... I can honestly say I don't think I spoke out of turn, esp since you did not prove me wrong, nor understand the vid, as the point is not specifically about legality, but what is right and wrong. When the public needs law to behave, it is when law makers have too much power.

  • Well then I don't understand why you objected to my comment in the first place, as I was only addressing the tendency in your video to suggest that people not be allowed to express themselves. "You don't deserve the right, if your not smart enough"

As to the right and wrong of it, I've always agreed with you and never suggested that from a moral perspective hate speech is appropriate. But to suggest that someone doesn't have the right to speak, is wrong. I have every right to comment as such.

  • Not everyone does, hence the laws giving restriction, and ability to take it away...

  • Well whatever, I just posted a video response that I think gets my underline point across. Love it hate it whatever, we are talking in circles, arguing a topic that isn't at the heart of our disagreement. Watch the vid, respond if you like, it speaks better to my points

  • back up, youtube wasn't recognizing it.

  • You say that you dont want to worry about 8th grades being violent. Well you guys created that society now you enjoy living with it. Do you think other countries are as violent and ignorant as americans? Anyways i agree with the part about freedom of speach and the The right to keep and bear arms. But still i think its amusing that you complain about a society thats unice for your country and made by your countrymen.

  • I'm glad you have the cockiness to suggest in your words that you live in a place of no violence, no hatred, ignorance, etc. I'm happy for you. It must be perfect to be able to suggest that a child died because 'he made the bed so now he has to lye in it' and to be 'amused' by those that speak up and try to change things.

  • Im not saying everything is perfect here, im just saying that nobody forces americans to be a violent people.

  • You'd be a much wiser person if you did not stereotype Americans as a whole, or anyone for that matter. Youe point, is pointless. A very few select people who are violent, are forced to be. The fact that you are saying nobody forces Americans to be violent, yet you are mocking an American that is trying to voice peace, means you are trapped by that very stereotype.

That is a clear definition ignorance. Sure, group a country made of more than 305,226,000 as 'violent'.

  • Suck my donkey balls " a few select people".

"As of year-end 2006, a record 7.2 million people were behind bars, on probation or on parole" Wow .. you call that a few select people? So fuck off you peace of shit, i hope a mugger fucking kills you.

  • Actually I said a few select people are "forced to be violent". Pay attention.

  • I also found some stuff on wikipedia ok.

The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world at 737 persons imprisoned per 100,000

The United States has 5% of the world's population and 25% of the world's incarcerated population.

while in Norway it is 59 inmates per 100,000.

You call that a very few selected people?

  • "means you are trapped by that very stereotype" Wtf are you talking about you peace of shit?. Ive never done a crime in my life, neither have any of my friends. SO dont talk bullshit like you know me ook.

  • Wow, lol.

    1) Educate yourself on the jail system, seriously. Also if you did the number it means .02% of America's registered population are 'behind bars', hardly enough for stereotyping an entire country the size of America.

    2) Comparing a country like Norway to the United States on a subject like incarceration is apples and oranges.

    3) Find a better use of your time, like expanding your vocabulary.

    Blocked for obvious reasons.

  • I never called you violent, nor did I accuse your friends. Don't know why I would even if I had accused you.

So does verbal violence not count though, only physical? I guess so.

  • Getveryreal, you need to. You are a moron.

  • And you're a bimbo fan... :)

  • and you're a moron.

  • So cross dressing makes you an adult, and asking someone to be your valentine does as well... Nice buddy, nice.

  • Extremely well said.

    Great job.

  • I just want to say how much I agree with you. I am frequently disgusted at the vicious comments I read on youtube with the favoured excuse 'freedom of speech'. As a person, like yourself, who has a huge open mind I have a great respect for you for doing this. I myslef am not an American citizen & do not live in America but I think your words should apply to all the world, we HAVE to respect the right to live. Thank god there are some people like you still left with an open mind & open heart.

  • ha yes! if i were gay then i would love you...but im not and i just think your right. dont vote obama!

  • yeah i think your totally right!!

  • Ah finally.

The distinction between Freedom of Speech and Hate Speech.

    Articulate and accurate. Thanks.

  • You're so right.

It's so sad that people die because of those nonsenses.

It is all about haterade, and has to be stopped.

  • Well said!

    =^_^=

  • I am 42 yr m Canadian my grandfather and his brothers served in war they all lived through he lived to 93 yrs I would disrespect him and all veterns if I did not live my life with kindness caring showing respect for others I thank you

  • only people like you should be allowed to vote, I hate people that support Hillary that aren't going to support Obama and instead rather vote for McCain to me thats just pure racist. Hillary and Obama have much more in common than Hillary and McCain do.

  • I agree, sadly, I know two lesbians who rather vote for McCain then Obama so sad and fucked up

  • agreed dean! Democrats unite. I wanted Sen. Clinton too. But we need to unify.

  • Nice. Thanks.

  • but saying that freedom of speech isnt to say your opinion is also wrong, people have the right to say what they want to who they want, the responce they recieve may not be what they want but at the end of the day everybody has their own opinions and to say that out loud IS the freedom of speech.i could go on about how you are talking is not the freedom of speech because what you have said applies to you too! Dont go preeching the law when you really dont have a clue,

  • Actually I said Freedom of Speech shouldn't be the reason to say whatever you want. I do not question what Freedom of Speech is, or restrict people to using it. Putting it into perspective that people are using it as an excuse.

Our government was based on the concept that no man should fear another. Meaning at the end of the day, if you are going to blurb ignorant crap, and the only fact you have for opening your mouth is Freedom of Speech, you are abusing the right, thus you shouldn't have it.

  • Also to be clear, Freedom of Speech does not protect hate speech. And hate speech, can be prosecuted as a hate crime. The gov also gives the ability for people to be held accountable for their words, as free as they want.

The problem is that ignorant people, who usually don't matter in the world anyhow, aren't prosecuted, because they're just not worth it.

  • so what your saying is that freedom of speech isnt freedom of speech at all! yes what has happend is wrong, and people saying that its a good thing that its happend are wrong, because its not,a life is a life doesnt matter if its black/white male/female gay or straight,

  • Thank you for this.

I feel as though all of the people who have something good to say about this tragedy were to watch this they would have no response nor should they. And any bullcrap that comes up from people who think they are 1-upping this video please disregard them as their opinion doesn't matter.

    have a nice day

    =]

  • I think this is the far most well said response to the context Freedom of speech. Thank You so much ...keep up your words

  • you are really a smart guy and thanks for that!!!! i wish you only the best....

  • "We don't have freedom, so you can be an asshole. We have freedom, so we can enjoy life to its fullest."

Thank you. That's some of the best things I've heard in quite a while. We shouldn't use freedom of speech for selfish reasons. It will only lead to conflicts, and conflicts will only hatred and extreme violence (eg. Lawrence King's tragic death, or something more extreme, The Holocaust).

Thank you again for this video. Bravo!

  • Lol, what does republican have anything to do with it? And if you paid attention to the video, the point was that freedom of speech is a weak excuse to use slandering words... Nice attempt at a rise though.

  • 33yrs old and still act like a kid lol

  • preach!

  • i love this video means alot of me becuase i am bi

  • You are soooo smart man...thanks for educating us. We can all learn a lot from you i did.

  • All i can say is, Thank You.

I did the Day Of Silence on April 25, and i got so much shit for it.

I'm Bisexual; It kills me how stupid others can be towards the subject.

About the right to bear arms...

Maybe the gun was alowd in Brandon's home.

But schools are gun free zones, so why would anyone even try to use that as a defence?

    -Lauryn.

  • i am bisexual to and it hurts to know that stuff like this can happen !

  • TO whydoyouwork - correction below - "masturbation was counter reproduction" - your right - people need to be responsible for the way they exercise their freedom of speech - hate speech is unacceptable - its about responsibility and accountability - indeed - if one's justification for saying anything is their right to say something period - honestly - you do not deserve the right itself - thanks for taking the time to make such an educated observation -

  • TO whydoyouwork - I am a gay Christian - the scriptures do not explicity say homosexuality - as this term was cointed in the 19th century when pyschology became a field of study - in the bible - the issue is sodomy - lets look at history - sodomy was used as a fear and humiliation tactic by conquering armies - also - sperm was believed to be finite - thus -wasting it through homosexual acts or masturbation was not counter reproduction - this is the context in which homosexuality became evil -

  • TO whydoyouwork - I completely agree with you on the "relational" comment - I am a relativist myself - abstract concepts like justice and every meaning created is but a social construction deriving from subjectively established contexts - from the beginning of time - subjecting thoughts and acts have created a particular historical context - this context provides meanings and norms -however, we must remain aware that no norms are universal (contrary to Plato) -

  • Hey guy.... you're very smart & very cute. Are you very married? (Hope not).... ;-)

  • You're really amazing, this is an awesome video.

  • ohhh how I love people's tendencies to justify hate with absolutely ANYTHING they can get their hands on...whether or not there is actually any truth to it. Selective reading and interpretation is the main tool of ignorant idiots.

  • The men and women of the armed forces and our forefathers gave their lives so we could express ourselves...regardless of whether that's used for hate or not.

If our forefathers intended the freedom of speech to restrict itself to politics and government, they would've said that.

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

    -S. G. Tallentyre

You claim to be impartial and open to people, but you seem to be a hater here yourself.

  • I'm not going to fight for anyone's right to bear speech that results in ignorant violence, ESP when it goes against the Constitution that is based on every man and woman are equal.

You're right, I am a "hater"... Because I think adults should act like adults, take in account everyone's freedom, before speaking. That does in fact make me a "hater", except it's not a right label IMO.

  • Great job, i love the historical placement of the rights of freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. some of the most misused tenets of American 'civilization'. I recommend people concentrate on developing their own moral compass. Know what is right within yourself.

  • I just want to say that Christians don't use scripture to justify the hate of gays and lesbians. We use it to say that it's wrong but not that it's ok to hate people because of it. We as Christians love every person no matter what their sexual orientation is.

  • ^ Which I think we all understand. But the fact of the matter is that the leading source of the kinds of people that use the word fag, homo, etc, all do that because God says it's wrong. Due to a culture coming out of how far Christianity pushed homosexuality in the past, it is now a distinct divide in our nation.

It's fine for Christians to say homosexuality is wrong, but the fact that not too long ago some churches didn't allow gay members, says it all.

Like I said, not a theology debate.

  • To be clear, I was paraphrasing in the first paragraph.

  • hahaha one of my favorite excuses the "hate the sin not the sinner"...that's just as bad as saying "I'm not homophobic, a gay person lives next door and I talk to him all the time". People do use the bible for hate. ALSO if you think sexual orientation is a sin, why isn't it a sin to be heterosexual? Why is one sexual orientation "natural" and another not? Homosexual practices are EVERYWHERE in NATURE. check out the bonobos. Stop selectively reading,

  • they didn't even have a word for homosexual when the bible was written. & the whole "man lying with man" thing was most likely talking about men taking little boys to bed, not actually being gay. Please for the love of all that is good can ppl. ACTUALLY read the bible as it's intended. AS A WHOLE, AS AN ENTIRE MESSAGE, not itty bitty selective phrases. If you take th@ passage seriously, why not the 1 th@ says eating shellfish is wrong? OR sell your child into slavery, the bible says it's fine

  • And shellfish due to it being an extremely common allergy among the Jewish people, let alone disease (which is also a main reason why the no eating hoofed animals was a commandment)

  • It didn't say young boys, young men, children, or otherwise not because of homophobia, etc, but because the Jewish people, like most of the time, were at war with a large group of people who still to this day won't stop until they are slaughtered.

It was about population, having families have children so they could serve their faith and preserve Judaism (both in spirit and culture).

Assuming it meant something else, is odd, considering the bible chose it's words carefully, even in metaphor.

  • Thanks for saying something so right and that can be applied to other countries - like here in Australia. Hopefully these people won't lave America and come here, we have enough closed minded, uneducated people using the phrase "Freedom of Speech", which has absolutely no context in Australia.

  • Well Said.

  • they need to get the fuck out of the world not just the unitas states.

  • Thank you for this. Keep up the good work.

  • good post

  • People like you should BREED and start a revolution. :D

People like you leave me speachless. Thank you.

  • HAHAHAHAHA! That's hysterical! Good idea.

  • Hatred is one thing, but killing someone (especially due to ignorance" is another thing. I am just shocked how these days people don't see others as people. It seems to me that some people (even young kids) see others as objects. They do not need a reason to kill....In bad parts of London, there are gangs (with young kids as young as 10) just go out and stab or shoot anyone. What has gone wrong with this world.

  • Hatred is disgusting, and so is the justification for it. Thank you for posting! =)

  • I completely agree with you. Thank you for putting into words what I could not. I'm am very saddened that this kind of hatred still exists, RIP Larry King.

  • i posted a comment earlier and i totally miss-typed it. i totally get your point. i never looked at it that way. i am glad that you did this video.i now know. i can go to school with that information and inform people that they are using the "right" very wrong. i wish that there were morepeople in the world like you. i appreciate what you have said, it means a lot to me that there is people that will stand up for people who aren't straight.

  • i totally get your point. i never looked at it that way. i am glad that you did this video.i now know. i can go to school with that information and inform people that they are using the "right" very wrong. i wish that there were people in the world like you. i appreciate what you have said, it means a lot to me that there is people that will stand up for people who are straight.

  • thank you!

i'm from Mississippi, and i know people exactly like who you are talking about. people are so ignorant, i appreciate you getting this out. thank you soo much.

you are a VERY smart man :D

  • I think it'll take awhile for a lot of people,a lot of parents to really open their minds and actually acknowledge the fact that it is OKAY to be gay.

  • we live on a divide and conquer system. we divide each other into our little groups and form our own little opinions of right and wrong, depending on what our own little political parties say right and wrong is. "gay marriages are ruining the very fabric of the Christian-American family", we are emotional thinkers, if we thought about that quote logically, it makes as much sense as hating someone because of the color of their skin.

  • P.S not only political parties, religions as well, people like to be told what the right thing is, they don't want to just use there own moral compass instead.

  • dude, you're awesome. thank you.

  • thank you thank you for putting this argument to rest. It is a BS reason.

  • Your a smart guy. It's nice to hear sence

  • You speak some powerful words. It was really quite... inspiring. I'm not an American, I'm Canadian, and I certainly believe, focusing souly on gay rights, we have it much better here than in the States... However that doesn't change the fact there's still discrimination and hate. And Freedom of Speech is certainly NOT an appropriate argument.

So thank you for (rather bluntly, which I liked) pointing that out to the idiots who believe that's acceptable.

  • you are fkn amazing!! good god its been so so long since ive heard sence come from someones lips like that.

i think i just fell in love w/a stranger!

  • Mr. whydoyouwork: I too am a military brat and I also served. When I was young, USAmerica was at its worst - Vietnam Era. Many negative things were happening. I made a decision when I was still in my teens to better society and myself by learning about our country. I studied many cultures, ethnic groups, and subcultures. When we hide behind mob mentality to justify our fears, we rob ourselves of the many wonderful and beautiful things our nation has to offer. Thank you for your comments.

  • Do not call the child an idiot. Everyone is a product of their environment at their age. It comes down to what the community was supporting or how out of touch they were with their own children.

There were 2 lives changed for the worse, and both of them belonged to children.

  • You can't put it down to just the envionment, of course if he lived in a different environment maybe he wouldn't have donw what he did. Although if you're gunna go and shoot another kid in the head that's not from environment.

  • Dude, he was a child. He's a little boy who felt so threatened by another's homosexual advances that he felt the need to violently defend himself. The question is: why did he feel so threatened? For me the answer is clear. We live in an environment where transgendered individuals, homosexuals, and transexuals are either made to be the brunt of jokes or publicly scorned. So many people are victimized by this kind of social norm, this is just a more publicized instance.

  • So blame a kid for not knowing what light is if he never saw it either? The fact is, it was the environment, no matter the reach of his parents, community, etc, those aspects are environmental. Everyone is a product of it, for good or for bad. Anyone that thinks otherwise doesn't understand the purity of life being relational. Granted, there are a few spiritual examples that prove otherwise. But at the end of the day, everyone does their best with the tools they do or do not have. He didn't.

  • Very hypocritical. Although I do agree with the fundamental points you are trying to make, I do not agree with the way in which you make them.

  • I'm sorry you feel that way.

  • Finally someone got it right. In Germany for example freedom of speech means exactly that. You can say what you want, unless you insult someone, then the other person has the right to report that and go to court and yada yada yada and then the person that did the insult etc. may have to pay a fee or whatever. Anyway, my point is, at school in Germany children are taught that you can say whatever you want unless you intent to hurt someone else, because you should be smarter than to insult.

  • I really thought it was interesting that you made a sort of correlation between Christian scriptures and the First Ammendment. I'm agnostic but I'm doing my masters in Religous studies right now and I really see where your coming from. I think people need to consider that laws must change when a society's values change, whether religious or dealing with government. It's all relative to a time period and that's why it's important to look for messages behind laws and apply them in context.

  • I agree, the ridiculous thing is that homosexuality isn't anything new. Not saying it's right or wrong, but outlawing whether by enforceable law or social law, doesn't help even if you think it's wrong. And when more studies show that the topic relates to natural roots, there is no reason society shouldn't provide the same rights, religiously right or wrong.

I think it's more arguable society's laws need to be fixed, and not due to social change. But I do understand/agree with your point.

  • What is with these people. One word..ignorance! It boils down to uneducated families raising bigots..what is this world coming to!

  • My fear is that an example has been made in this school/community. One that says being openly gay is something to be ashamed of. Who the hell cares what your sexual preference is? Being a happily married woman myself, I don't care what makes someone else happy in the bedroom. It's none of my business. As long as they respect my husband and 2 kids in everyday life I'm fine. Why does sexual preference even have to come up? Has anyone EVER been introduced as a heterosexual?

  • I can't believe this has happened. How horrible for the victims' family, tragic for his schoolmates/community, and embarassing for the family of the accused child. I would be SO humiliated if brandon was my son that acted out such a horrific crime. Were his parents from another planet??? What type of values was this kid taught?!?!?! How could Brandon have done this and felt it was the only way to resolve an uncomfortable situation?

  • Very very well said .... this is the most intelegent commentary I've ever seen online. Comment from a gay guy to a straight guy who has an open mind and and more importantly an open heart

  • Well put!!! Good for you, whydoyouwork! You've said out loud what many of us are thinking, but are too afraid to speak up. It's amazing how we as human beings will take a stand with a crowd once it's already formed, but refuse to be the one to initiate it.

  • Very well said

  • Well put! "no one died in the creation of our country so you can call someone a fag" or kill a kid who flatters you by asking to be your valentine.

  • you are correct sir! 10Stars!

  • This is why I love YouTube, its easier to find like minded people. Makes me appreciate humanity more. Peace.

  • I don't think anyone should be legally restricted to say what they want. It was merely pointing out that people use it as an excuse to say anything.

When a person has to default to the law's protection for something as powerful as words... It usually means they don't have a good reason. That's what the post is about.

I really never said anything about changing the law, only pointing out how I think some don't deserve that protection.

  • These are incredible arguments to support classifying this homophobic shit as hate crimes and having more severe punishments for it.

Unfortunately, even in Boston, MASSACHUSETTS, things are awful in middle school.

  • This is an incredible speech

Unfortunately, if you limit the speeches of some, if there's a change in power, other people's speech will be limited. If these bigots get into power, then they will limit gays from their freedoms.

I do agree with you very much, but it shouldn't be illegal, rather a stigma.

Again, you are a brilliant man.

  • Well before you get on your soapbox ever again...just remember freedom of speech enables you to sit here on youtube making videos expressing YOUR view. Hmm point to ponder I think. Funny though, you gripe about freedom of speech not being ok to call someone something...so why are you calling people idiots?

  • Calling people fags for being gay (some of which don;'t have a choice) or people being idiots for hiding behind a bent Constitutional law... I love my soap box, especially considering this video is based on what happens when HATE speech is used. I lack to take your comment seriously because you assume it's witty and I haven't thought about what you brought up before I posted... I have, and I was very specific in why I chose my words.

  • Furthermore, I laid the pretense of using the word idiot down pretty thick, I only called those that disobey common knowledge and choose to arrogant to the world around them idiots. And I, probably along with many others, are okay with that. So thanks for telling me, from the soap box that you might be on yourself... Done with the off topic.

  • Alright, last comment.

"Well before you get on your soapbox ever again...just remember freedom of speech enables you to sit here on youtube making videos expressing YOUR view"

    NO SHITE.

  • you have my full respect for that.. you made everything crystal clean

  • dude you're fucking right! Everything you said is so friggen true!

  • thanks alot..I can not agree more

  • Well done.

  • you are an absolutely brilliant man. kudos to you sir

  • you own. i wish i had some more serious to compliment you, but the first thing that came to mind is "own". it took a lot of courage to make this video and post it online, but you did it. this video in itself is a shining example of how freedom of speech was meant to be used. Thank you.

  • That was the first logical argument i've heard about the difference between 'freedom of speach' and 'hate speach'....great job man.

  • Simply put, thank you.

  • Thank you for talking sense into people. Here in Canada, we don't have Freedom of Speech. We have "Freedom of Expression" but there are reasonable limits to it. You can't use your "Freedom of Expression" to express hate or violence towards a group, otherwise you can be prosecuted. Freedom of Speech is such a narrow term. No one should go running their mouth because violence always starts with words.

  • Right on dude, total respect.

  • Awesome speech! Its people like you that make the world a better place.

  • "What you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me."

Enough said about the bible you douches. this guy is 100% right, we cant use the bible nor our freedom of speech to promote this kind of bullshit hate. If you believe you can, then you truly don't understand the bible nor our rights in this country.

  • ^ Yeap, it's about the rights of ANY citizen, not what the Bible says, or any other scripture, ITS THE LAW that we are all bound by and protected by.

  • The point I try to tell my fundamental, ultra conservative, always vote Republican friends, it isn't about the Bible, religion, or any small group. It is about what the Constitution says - all men are equal under the law. We must have laws to have order. We must take back our laws and toss out the greedy needs of our new politicians. The only way to do that is get out there and encourage someone that knows instead of someone who has to be in government. whydoyouwork? It will be tough.

  • And now you know why I chose the name. :)

  • Stop the hate people should not judge you for what you are and who you are .We are all gods people. There is so much hate in the world today .You know people tell me that I am going to die and go to hell because I am a Lesbain . Well just rem the people that are judging other are commiting a sin also. The bible says you shall not judge.

  • First of all, I hate how everything homosexual related gets turned into a religious war.

    With that said..

No matter what any of us believe as far as religion goes, I think we all can agree that teaching a child to hate and allowing another child to die is wrong.

I teach Sunday School for a Christian Church. I've heard it all. But I can also think for myself and I happen to believe that if anything sends anyone to Hell it will be Hate.

    Not Love, Tolerance, or Understanding.

  • I'll say one more thing, Beowulf22: You're welcome to your beliefs, and (again) you seem sensible enough, but please realize that too often the Bible is used by the religious right, and by the political right, to not only deny gay people basic Constitutional rights (*here's where religion and politics unfortunately intersect, whydoyouwork), but it's used to tacitly sanction the hatred/fear of gays that leads to bashing and even murdering gay people. That is simply abominable.

  • I couldn't agree more. Again, I'll say that unfortunately those people have never read the whole Bible and/or don't understand it.

While the Bible definitely says that homosexuality is sin, it also says that treating a homosexual any different than the rest of us is just as much a sin.

So, I'm getting at the point that any hatred/fear/bashing/murdering/etc of homosexuals is truly condemned by the Bible, but like you said, some fanatics take 1 verse and twist it out of its intended mean.

  • BTW, you are tre sexy! Love your rant, so insightful and damn time it was said. Love the Chic-aagoh accent, too.

  • Fair enough, whydoyouwork--and I am a fan of your vlog--BUT...before you reprimand those of us who are discussing the Bible, please remember that it is *you,* in your vlog above, who invokes the Bible (re scripture that condemns homosexuality in the same way it condemns masturbation). And inasmuch as much gay hatred--the kind that led to the little boy's death--is justified via the Bible, I would argue that such discussions are valid.
