  • she doesn't have to read the book if she doesn't want to.

  • I look at all of these comments on this video, you all wait until you die one day. You will be regretting everything you said.

  • This may be the most ironic thing I have ever seen.

  • Wow.

  • help me with this homework question Explain how willful ignorance created the society depicted in this novel.

  • this is so funny. how can anyone that this complaint seriously, i don't care what religion she is this girl and her father are just outrageous. if she read the entire book instead of taking it so literally she would understand the symbolism and the meaning of the bible being burnt. I'm christian and it wouldn't matter if i was any other religion, no one simple minded student should be allowed to influence an entire classes curriculum!

  • what a stupid bitch. even if they did burn the bible in the book, the book is making a case of why books SHOULDNT be burned, so if anything theyre supporting her views. dumb fat biblebanger cunt.

  • I think that the "dystopia" presented to us in Farenheit 451 is actually an ideal utopia: it's a Dionysian society where nobody has to worry about anything because books are the source of all our worries. Think that's so bad? Guess again!

News Networks like CNN and Fox News have proven to be perfect substitutes for books, rendering them obsolete, so now our society is becoming more like the one in Farenheit 451 every week and you don't hear anybody complaining about that, do you?

  • I never thought this book had excessive language, and the point of them burning books like the Bible is that IT IS BAD TO BAN/BURN BOOKS (actually the book was about Ray Bradbury's fears that TV will replace reading) but come on, I bet she never even read it the whole way, what a loser.

  • JESUS CHRIST!!!! JUST READ THE GODDAMN BOOK YOU STUPID BIBLE THUMPER!!!

  • i wish alton would have the chance to win a darwin award

  • Bullshit.

  • This girl is so stupid she is asking people to be so politically correct that she wants to ban the book that shows why political corectness can be taken to far and also her father is clearly a gunslingin amurican

  • @THELAXGOALE - Wow, you had me on the first part, but the "gunslingin amurican" comment totally showed you have a lot to learn as well. The right to bear arms was to keep the government from running amok, like, oh, say, in this book, or even in 18th century American Colonies throwing off a dictatorial king trying to tax them into poverty. Her ignorance stems from false-rightwing religious 'education' not the more false-left leaning "politically correct" dogma. Divide and conquer works.

  • Once again GOD getting in the way of truth. When you are faced with dying of thirst in a arid land of sand, and you have upon you two choices, Faith, or a glass of water, make your choice carefully. This book has more insight into America today than any other book on the market. Our entire society is dumbed down on anti depressants, fed dumb media, and kept from proper truth the government curriculum. God? Pffft, yeah, good luck. He wont save you from your idiocy.

  • @anonplanz Why is it, every time an important thought comes into criticism, these lazy no brained idiots answer it with the unanswerable. God solves everything for the abhorrently pathetically insolent people. God cannot fix any math problem, it cannot fix any physics problem, it can't build anything, it can't feed anyone. In the end, the world is being dominated by ruthless tyrants who have claimed ownership of its resources, and you're standing their, sucking your thumb, praying to God. idiots

  • Oh my god, that girls family is fucking stupid.

  • it was cool but the ending was sort of random

  • aaawwww boohoooo it has cussing and the bible being burned cry me a river....heck i am a Christian, and these people annoy me with their ignorance...

  • Banning a book for swearing? Welcome to the real world god dammit.

  • i thought thisbook was about censorship about the goverment hiding shit from us.this book was written 60 years ago and talks about shit u can see now.open ur eyes people.

  • Banning one book is how it all starts. If you can ban one, you can ban another until you can only read why the system wants you to read. Would you want that?

  • it's sad how they miss the whole point of the book and will never learn the important messages it contains.

  • @gothkyd Indeeeed, and I don't get it that she was most upset by them burning the Bible, so clearly she read quite a ways into it, so it's okay to burn all these other books but not the Bible?

  • Alton Vermin.

  • wait a sec if they ban this book in the school isnt that 1 step closer to the future the book fortells also ive read the graphic novelization of farenheight 451 and liked the story very much and i im about halfway through the novel itself and think that ray bradbury is a genious

  • No need to worry about banning books, just let the education get so bad that people can't read or want to read them.

  • @herbal1971 We're already a large part of the way there. Teachers KNOW that the kids don't know how to read, and they're not doing anything to correct it, when they hear the kids reading out loud and getting every other word wrong, they tell them that it's right.

  • To all viewers of this video: Does anyone know if this controversey of the book titled Fahrenheit 451 authored by Ray Bradbury has be resolved. I could be wrong but I find it amazing the tremedous negative power one person OVER a majority,s desire to read this book...>>> this is wrong. What Do You Think ?

  • its a god damn book..and a VERY good one at that. people are so liberal these days my god. look deeper in the novel..idiots

  • I've not read the book yet, but I've seen the film, and it was quite shocking for me as it is very relevant in some ways to our current generation. This is a story that I think all of today's youth should read/watch the film, as I feel it would be very relevant quite an eye opener for lots of people, and made me realise how important things like books are. They keep our race's imagination and creativity alive.

  • Comment removed

  • Is this book actually gets banned there will be a mass outrage among those capable of independant thought. How brainless do you have to be to support this book to get banned when the banning of books and ultimately to the banning of free thinking and will is the narrative of the book in question?

And on the religion front ... Personally I am a christian, the burning of the bible represents more of a loss of free will and the control. People weren't even allowed to have a religion in this ..

  • What an idiot kid and father. I am a Christian and I would be well pleased if my kids teacher sent them home with this assignment!

Burning the Bible in this book is a NEGATIVE thing.

It is people like these idiots that are the problem today.

2Tim 2:23 says "Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels."

  • Burning books is definately a travesty and farenheit 451 is a sci-fi book for the ages. The lessons and themes described are relatable and extremely relevant to our current situation...that and Galactic Battlefront should be read in every school across the country. The only way for our children to understand how they should live their lives is by seeing how human problems are approached in worlds and realities which are equivalent to ours but also quite different.

  • This is a perfect depiction of irony. If you were to take a mere 10 seconds to read the back of the book, you would have accumulated the knowledge to comprehend that the protagonist's goal was to stop the banning and burning of books. Make observations before making a fool of yourself.

  • i don't understand why these people object to this. Are they not aware that God does not exist?

  • @Bonfireten Don't be a jerk. A lot of us still believe in God, and an honest scientist would say that God is not disproven, Dawkins and such would keep it at percents, even if one chooses to say 99.99% sure.

  • @Bonfireten Not everyone thinks like you.

  • There's no reason for it being read??? This guy obviously didn't read it, he probably doesn't even get the irony of him wanting to ban it. What a moron.

  • i hate most religions but i don't hate most of their people....alot are just brainwashed but alot are actually reasonable

  • THAT JEOLOUS GOD OF YOURS SOUNDS ALLOT HUMAN TO ME - THINK ABOUT IT. OH, THAT'S RIGHT. YOU CHRISTIANS DON'T THINK...

  • @restructuremix2 WHY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT YOURSELF. DO U HAVE ANYTHING BETTER IN YOUR LIFE THAN MAKEING FUN OF PEOPLES RELIGON. GET A LIFE PLEASE.

  • @PONCHOBBG28 I was going to tell you the same - if you think and do some research on history - is it not religion that has done the most damage to society and the human race. Besides, it is OK to let the uninformed that Harry Potter, Santa Claus and this go-thing are make believe. Otherwise, like in the past, they will use it to create the world they believe it should be - rather than let others live their lives freely. So you do some actual reading on facts - and then” get a life"...

  • THE BURNING OF THE BIBLE IS THE BEST PART :)

  • DOWNGRADE CHRISTIANS? You do that yourself, you Christians :)

  • RELIGION! A waste of your life! Burn that bible - get a life.

  • Did this girl's father never read books in school? Most books DO have cursing, or somebody taking God's name in vain, especially the 'classics' all schools teach. And this girl is in the 10th grade, why hasn't she learned yet that you don't always get to read nice pleasant fairy tale books where nice things happen all the time?

  • I'm a Christian, It is embarrasing when people like this have no critical thinking skills and actually are blind to their ignorance and hypocrisy.

Did they read the book, or did they just read words in the book?

  • Fuckin stupid Hillbilly retards..thats fuckin Irony for you, the book is about banning and destroying books and knowledge, these backward retards cant see how paradoxical their actions are ....glad Im British not a hillbilly

  • Dumb idiot's.

  • I read this book in english, Im a Christian aswell, I cannot wait for the new earth, Props Consitution man

  • this was my favorite book of all times.. I can't imagine a world where I'm not able to read.. jeez some people are so clue less. This book is like the Giver.. also a great book on society.. If book like those are banned then how are we suppose to premote a forward thinking future?? How are kids going to know that just because society says its right for you doesn't mean you have to accept it.

  • wow the people against this book are some very delusional beings

  • In my copy of Fahrenheit, Bradbury left in a Codas about how he came to write the book. People were sending tons and tons of complaints to him about how certain groups aren't or ARE represented in ways they don't like so they claimed they should be banned(He even got called a racist). He notes how in modern books supplied to schools, editors strip the meaning out of authors like Shakespeare and Poe to fit it into a relatively reasonably sized book. In the end, all we have is whitewashed garbage

  • Wow....another of my favorite books banned. This book and "Lord of the Flies"....which is also banned. Anyone see a trend?

  • Harry Potter is pronunced Hahry Puttah.

  • Why isn't that ironic people trying to ban Fahrenheit 451...

  • what a fat ass bitch, country dumb ass retard trailer trash. Christians ruin fucking everything! GOD GET A JOB.

  • This is funny!

  • wait till she reads 1984 or brave new world

  • Learn how to spell. How embarrassing. "thier students..." "This Book come's...." Obviously, reading has no impact on your literacy.

  • One of my favourite quotations is by Heinrich Heine: "Where they burn books, they will ultimately also burn people" (1821)

Ironicly it is an excerpt of play where it is used by a moslem during the spanish reqoncista, where the koran and every arabian book was burnt

  • Many of you don't understand something....in Farenheit 451, it wasn't the government, or religions (well, minorities yes, but not the only ones) or conservatives. It was the PEOPLE. The normal civillian. They wanted to be happy, and people were willing to resort to ignorance to stop fighting and unhappiness. But the PEOPLE wanted those books burnt.

  • thats what happen to ignorants. they cant even recognize the content of a book. i am sure that father never read a book. go both read harry potter

  • Americans are indoctrinated ass holes! Hitler would have loved such stupid people !

  • What are they afraid of? Are they afraid that they will start "cussing" & are they afraid that they too will use "God's name in vain"? Are they so weak minded to think a simple book will sway them (or others) to the devil or something? Ha!

  • I think I care more about individuals than our decaying society, which is why I always felt deep sorrow for Clarisse McClellan. A loving girl who was wiped out by the speeders on the highway, who represent the reality show people, always demanding it faster, louder and more intense. Clarisse represented the thoughtful, compassionate ones who read, write, and only wish others peace and happiness. The story is all about what people do after they choose either books or "life in the fast lane."

  • PFFT. What's the point of arguing about books when most kids in this generation don't even read... and I wouldn't be so against religion if they didn't try to force people to believe in the bullshittery they believe in..

  • @cardboardbox1337 EASYYYYYYY

I am a Christian. These Christians are weak minded, brainwashed individuals that believe in the perverting the teachings of Jesus to such an extent that they think its ok to force someone to not read something.

God gave us free will for a reason. What kind of God would want people to worship him only because they were forced to?

  • @TheConstitutionMan It don't seen to bother Allah too much.

  • @TheConstitutionMan

I appreciate your very reasoned response. However, they in turn could easily claim that YOU are a weak minded, brainwashed individuals, and they could probably quote scripture to prove it.

This is what happens when such an important messages about things like salvation are left to the vagaries of a written book. I can't think of a more inefficient means of transmitting a supposedly divine message than written language with multiple translations.

    Sounds VERY manlike tho.

  • @TheConstitutionMan Christians...not everybody believes your nonsense! Don't damn us for thinking!

  • @restructuremix2 Don't go knocking Christians. God gave us a mind and the ability to use it, didn't He? He also gave us free will. It's not Christians that are the problem, it's these extremist people who seem hell bent on giving the religion they follow a bad name. I'm a Christian and this is one of my favorite books.

  • @cardboardbox1337

True that most kids now don't even read. If you go to any library in your county, you will see just prior to opening time, someone carting books out to the dumpster in the parking lot and chucking them, to make shelf-space for the latest DVDs. Which fulfills the message of Bradbury's book. It is not some government totalitarian that will take away books. The people themselves will demand the end of books. Censorship not from the top-down, but bottom-up. Very prophetic book.

  • @cardboardbox1337 I am with you on that, Isn't so-called religion suppose to be internal? Keep it to yourself Christians...not everybody believes your nonsense! Don't damn us for thinking!

  • Books allow people to think, there is nothing wrong with the book. It's about technology "brainwashing" people, these people who only read a few pages judged it because of "cursing" and for the "burning" of the Bible. The book even relates to that subject, "if people don't like the books, burn it." They should have read the whole book before judging it, it has deeper meanings then just "burning" books.

  • lame as a F**** ! why don't he read first the book instead of just taking the bad words from it.. I bet Harry freakin potter has worse things that made it up .............

  • are they serious? if they had it there way even kids books would be banned? Bad language? Fuck that, swears are just stronger words that are used to voice deeper more forceful emotions. Pants use to be a swear in england in the 1800's. One side should not force there own views on the other; the only side free to do such is the neutral side that falls in the middle and that of the truth.

  • I wish they can just ban that book away from school because it gives me headache... Freshman Year and reading that book is horrible ... It's really hard to understand lol

  • I find it ironic that the pilgrims came to America for religious freedom. Freedom and the right of choice is one of the founding principals of this country. Yet there are always religous fanatics trying desperately to meld country and religion together limiting the freedom of choice for everyone else...

  • Honestly! I fear for our future when this kind of thing is still happening, especially when excuses like that are taken seriously...

  • This author has the right to speak his mind , and write about anything he wants to. If this girl has a problem with that, then she should not read it.

  • They don't want to read the book because they are being forced to read it.

    Thats fucking high school.

  • This book is terrible. It is unclear in its dystopian theme of censorship, and while I don't believe it should be banned, I discourage anyone from reading it. It is just terrible overall. It is poorly written, drawling, and complicated. I HAVE TO READ IT IN DEAD SILENCE JUST TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IT SAYS! As far as dystopian goes, I recommend Battle Royale by Koushun Takami or the Uglies series. As far as classic fiction goes, To Kill A Mockingbird and Romeo and Juliet are much better picks.

  • Christians are such dumb asses!

  • This book is great and should not be ban for any reason. Not trying to get into religion or offend anybody, but i am a christian and i didn't get offended by it. Maybe it's just my own thoughts but okay. :3

  • Come on guys don't fight about religion, every body thinks different. And i agree that books should never be ban.

  • TheArabist You are an unitelligent mis informer and this very book explains how your kind are spotted. Long live The constitution Of The United Sates Of America

  • This is... ridiculous. Way to miss the point of the book. The message=censorship is generally bad.

"Colored people don't like Little Black Sambo. Burn it. White people don't feel good about Uncle Tom's Cabin. Burn it. Someone's written a book on tobacco and cancer of the lungs? The cigarette people are weeping? Burn the book. Serenity, Montag. Peace, Montag."

    *sigh*

  • i hate the book

  • I watched the movie yesterday. It reminds me of that movie, "Idiocracy."

  • read 2 pages and said there was no need to read it its got cursing it said the imaginary gods name in vain like siriously first off the freedom of speech is not to protect things u like its to protect thing that arn't liked . and second off dosen't that go agins the idea of don't judge a book by its cover you must read the whole thing to have an opinion douche

  • the bible girl is a fucking retard

  • yeah. like those people dont want anything that shows god as being persecuted, god has been persecuted even more than people, they just cant face reality, its like evangelists, who cant admit that god does his own will and not people's

  • great story frightening to me but frightenly true

  • Excellent book, everyone should read this and Brave New World.

  • @xxdiogenescynicxx

    And 1984 of course :)

  • I love how people read something on the surface and then toss it out without reading the whole thing and seeing the true meaning behind the words. I thought that only happened with the bible... I guess it happens with any book :(

  • that girl and her father are fucking morons. this is pretty ironic if you've actually read the book.

ugh, i really wanna slap her...

  • Pathetic. If you don't like a book DON'T READ IT.

And surely that girl could have gotten a different book assigned if it offended her so much?

  • Pretty ironic...I'm sure her dad would love to have Winston's job in 1984...

  • When books are all electronic, how will we prove when they have been altered?

  • I read this book in fourth grade. One of the best...

  • 1)

Banning books is and will always be equivalent to burning them.

    Make no mistake.

  • @memento59 I agree !! Your comment is right on target; the latest controversy is the use of the " n " word in the book by Mark Twain called " The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn ". I mean wow !! What incredible ingorance especially in the light of the fact that many blacks I know etc.... freely acknowledge the "n" word was widely used in the lanuage at that time of US history. What do You Think ?

  • 2)

Never let any institution force you and your children to "un-learn", espacially when it deals with (art)works about FREEWILL, QUESTIONING and INITIATIVES going against the tide.

In a nutshell, some may smouthly remark some links between the so called "arguments" from the "chocked baby minds" and poor jugemental persons interviewed & some of the key quotes from Farenheit 451 and 1984(George Orwell).

    Sweet dreams...

-Someone who read those two books-

  • I'm currently reading this book in my advance 8th grade language arts class and I'm like the only one that likes this book. I like this book because it has meaning and it is an eye opener to something most people are unaware of. When first you read this book you will be like this crazy and far fetched and then you will go wait a minute is it?

  • people like this are horrible. they think just because they don't like something, no one else can have the privilege of it. BS

  • this is what the book is talking about!

"books make people unhappy, therefore, they must be burned" -fahrenheit 451

in my opinion, no book should be banned. a book is an idea written on several papers. published, it would state that the author is voicing said opinion to the world, an orignial idea of free speech.

    LET THEM READ ALL BOOKS!

  • Banning books to read is a form of control. Obey or you will be hated and hunted down. FN Natzi rats want this.

  • So these folk want to ban a book that talks about the evil of banning books......Okkkkk.

  • Stupid girl, and stupid dad.

  • best book ever in my old school they made us read it it is my favorite book. this book made me "like" books and i really think people who oppose this book have the right to say what they want but not to remove it from school curriculum.

  • dumb fuckin biblethumping cockknockers. . .

  • if half of everything written wasnt fluff then i could have enjoyed it more :'( its not a bad book, but its hard to follow with all the rambling gibberish... btw does anyone have ANY clue what the "one. clarisse. two. mildred. three. the uncle. four. the fire tonight" part means?! i dunt get it!

  • I believe he was referring to the importance of the characters and events to drops of rain as not being that important except as a whole.

One drop represented Clarisse the young girl.

    Two, his wife Mildred

Three, the uncle of Clarisse and possible crimminal

And Four the fire itself. Single drops meaning nothing by themselves but important as a whole storm.

  • @candr ... genius.... but still, why the fuck does he do that ALL the flipping time?! hes talking about something sensible and goes off talking about rain for a couple pages and jumps back like nothing happened!

  • To him perhaps nothing has happened. Maybe just the way he (or Ray B.) thinks. After all he is a sort of a policeman that has to be able to seperate work from personal, to departmentalize so to speak.

  • @candr or maybe he's just crazy?

  • That'll work ;)

  • @candr yay :D

  • If you stop at the fact that they burn the Bible, then you didn't get the point of the book. You have to actually read a document to have the right to criticise it.

  • This Verm family = bunch of narrowminded retards. How can people be like that?

  • I am surprised. Trying to ban a book like Fahrenheit 451 seems to be only possible in the US.

Some people will never learn, it seems.

I remember Montag reading aloud a poem to Mildred's friends, one of which then burst out into tears....

And that was not because of the words...

    Just think about it.

    Regards

  • This book was the reason of why I read.

  • The book is one of the greatest ever written, and a few sheeple are not going to be able to censor it, not while there are thinking beings still roaming this earth.

  • Great book!

lol I think books with bad words should not be censored.(the bad words)

It shows its feel to it.

  • No reason for it being read?!?!?

    are you fucking kidding me?

ok not everyone is hardcore religious.

if you're offended by the book then DON'T READ IT

    problem solved

there is absolutely no reason to take such a wonderful piece of literature away from the percentage of the population that actually CAN enjoy it.

    idiots

  • No two see eye two eye, does it mean that we should poke out each others eyes. Man took his fears and hopes created god out of it. God created man is faith not fact. Blind Faith will only keep us from finding the real truth. Like miss Worm and Worm senior.

  • I am actually for world government. But yeah, after reading this book in a days worth of time, i respect books more then i used to. They are critical assets. Knowledge is power, in the purest form. Not all books are "Smart", but to shed your ability to think for yourself in order to achieve fake happiness, through meaningless trash, which only generated money to wage wars that had no goals what-so-ever. It's easy being alone, but being intellectually bankrupt, yeah, pass the cyanide pill.

  • SO, LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT. You are for a very small group of people, dictating to you everything in your life, religion, money, work, pay, travel, kids, carbon foot print, school, taxes, internet regulation, ect.... You are a complete moron. The only way a world government would even be fair, is if God set up his kingdom on earth, and he was the ruler.

You are obviously a young brainwashed individual, a product of our current federal department of education guidelines that teach you nothing.

  • The palpable response.

  • Have I missed something here? Seems to me, we just got done with 8 yrs. of being dictated to, in every way possible - affecting and having negative effects on every imaginable facet of - the lives of those in our country and the world over. The only ones who had positive outcomes were (not surprisingly) the obscenely wealthy and perversely greedy corporate owners - the very small group of actual power brokers - who gleefully profited from the exploitation and misery of everyone else, as usual!

  • I, too, am for a unified world. We MUST work together - as a species - to get beyond the usual bullshit: nations, racism, the 'concept' of race, entirely (yes: 'race' is a concept; not, an objective reality); grabbing/getting as much as one wants - simply because some have the money/power to do so: the 'God-given' right, etc. We need to evolve - transcend all that crap - put it behind us; otherwise, we're ALL goners...our future is, simply: just a matter of the time and method of our demise.

  • "You are a complete moron." Ha: talk about the pot calling the kettle black! And, with a response like that: small wonder everything remains as fucked as it does. It simply boggles the mind to read the words of someone who is obviously naive, gullible and/or totally ignorant about past and current world history, and, is totally lacking any critical thinking/evaluation skills. He does not even realize/know: what he describes is, basically, "The Condensed History of Humans in the World, Thus Far"!

  • And you are brainwashed in believing in god. You believe in god because your brainwashed parents taught you to. If you were born in Saudi Arabia, you'd worship Allah, if you were born in India you'd worship who the hell knows what. If you were born 1000 years ago you'd worship Zeus, or whichever god your region believed in.

Why is it only christians and other conservatives want to ban books. It's because their beliefs have nothing to do with knowledge and everything to do with lack of it.

  • Only a FOOL would look at the world, stars, and new born babies and claim there is no God.

Books, of any kind should never be banned, we either have freedom for all or freedom for none.

    No king, but King Jesus!

  • ...but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire... Matt 5:22

I look upon newborn babies and wonder why they are abandoned in dumpsters, molested by parents, priests and relatives.

  • With respect to, and in the same vein as, your 'baby' comment: Even as an old man nearing death, Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) insisted that, "Should the existence of a 'God' be proven; then, surely, He will be the most insane creature ever to have lived!"

  • Comment removed

  • @TheConstitutionMan What is God?

  • @TheArabist ATHEIST! lol jk

  • This books isn't really about burning books, at least not into today"s society. This book is more about how people don"t read books anymore and the importance of reading.

  • I wish her dad would find a quiet nook and read Farenheit 451...he'd change his mind and slap his daughter for being ignorant

  • If you have read and really understand what Ray Bradbury meant back in the 50s, he's wrote it in conclusion of the life style amongst human kind in our society today. We all can reach out for education yet we don't. Having to BAND this novel is ignorant. It is just the ambiance and the atmosphere of the modern day life in the language or sexual content. YOU GUYS ARE MiSSiNG THE POiNT!!

He, is an actual genius (Ray Bradbury)

  • AND

by banning his Novel, i truly believe you just proved his point. C'mon, it's not like kids or teens are naive anymore now a days..

  • Personally, this Novel sums up to showing our every day society controlled by politics and capitalism. That is the reason why there is a system in how each country operates. As you can see in the book, non other than the "Firemen" can have any access to books. Comparisons..normal people that are exposed to Communism, Capitalism or Democracy will be punished like Montag. Montag knew about the "real" world..what ever that means..

  • interesting, the more they ban it the more it'll spread...ridiculous reasons this father had "talking about our firemen" and the other so laughable I don't even quote it.

    What a vegetable.

  • read George Orwell's 1984 too

both books were required reading before the wingnuts took over public schools and forced our children to watch liberal propaganda movies instead of books like those

  • its a great book. all kids should read it

  • Censorship is not the whole scope of the book. The book is about how people willingly give up their freedom, (such as the right to knowledge, right to free thought, and the right to criticize authority) in exchange for false security. Of course, censorship plays a major role in this, but to say that the entire book is about censorship is to undermine the book itself.

  • hey, that's abc 13 houston!

  • Ive read the book more than once starting in the 10th grade which was like 5 years ago, i got so very agitated with the stupid fat man and his fat daughter about the contents of the book.I find nothing offensive in this book they are just as the rest of these people are saying ignorant. I cant believe how they were trashing the book. And im glad that some of the students began passing around a petition i would have gladly signed. Fucking retards i hate ignorance.

  • This vid underscores something that seems to be missing from almost any vid even remotely connected to Fahrenheit 451.

I get the feeling this is routinely assigned as a school project, even the making of student-vids and what I've noticed is that not a one of them seems to have read the book.

  • (continued)

It is not about the tired cliche of a totalitarian government banning books. It is about the people themselves wanting them banned. Bradbury wrote the book as a response to "Reader's Digest" and abridgements. He foresaw that people would voluntarily stop reading. It is not about censorship from the top-down, but censorship from the bottom-up.

The tired "government censorship" cliche is not coming true. But Bradbury's version of a non-reading populace IS coming true.

  • Absolutely, these people that have a problem with the book obviously did not read it.

  • What's comical about this is that Montag's opinion of the Bible elevates it. It elevates the value of the Bible, which is quite rare these days (I'm saying this respectfully as an atheist).

Yet despite the pro-Bible-as-literature message, these pig-brains in the school want it banned! Tragic and funny at the same time.

  • I made some stupid quiz on Facebook about "What Famous Literary Character Are You?" and I was main character from this book. O.o

And I read his descreption and I was shocked how accurate was with me.

  • this girl and her father are so very ignorant! This book is a very imprtant book especially for high school students to read. jeez fucking stupid. besides it's just a book!

  • the cursing and the burning of the bible?

Maybe if you read the book you would understand but since the only book you have ever read is the bible obviously you don't get it.

Good for the students for passing around a petition.

  • What MORONS!!!

  • If that girl wasn't too lazy to read past the first couple of pages, she would find out that Montag SAVES part of the Bible, for future generations!

Sometimes the ignorance of people is just scary.

  • 1:54 "There is no reason why this book should be read"...

    DUMBASS.......... READ THE BOOK...

  • goes to show you didn't understand that book. But don't worry, I was the same way when I was in high school. I didn't care about anything except sports, pussy, and parties.

But Believe me, this book, is actually a good read, with lessons to learn.
