  • this seemed super cheap even at the time with it's cardboard cutout people.

  • even as a kid i knew this was shit, but damn, never missed an episode! and OH how we laughed as we sang along to the theme replacing the word 'super' with 'stupid'. damn, we were rebels.

  • Theme tune by The Spacewalkers in 1983

    silence for 28 years

Now in 2011 a new single!!! Bells of Christmas.

  • Cool theme song...but the I remember the show looking like it had a budget of about 38 pence

  • I remember all the kids sitting in the show had their hair full of gel

  • Can anyone tell me (a) if this classic series is available on dvd? (b) which actress played zep's female assistant? and (c) can I get a model of zep's ship anywhere?

  • i knew i didn't dream it, none of my friends remember this show and now i can prove i didn't make it up. if my memory serves me corecctly i believe that one of the prizes was a tub of hair gel. can anyone confirm?

  • @rantantara you are indeed correct captain zepp bryl-cream.

kind of like a cross between CSI and 321, for kids!

  • ha i won some stickers and a signed picture

  • @loverofsith Me too!

  • I've been trying to find a trace of this show for YEARS. I used to spend Friday nights watching this whilst my parents went shopping! 25 years ago... wow. Where did my life go - lol.

  • Hurrah, 25 years on and I still remember the words...sadly no longer 15 though :(

  • Captain Zep was great in a very peculiar way. I think the fact that it was horribly low-budget and that the cardboard aliens had bizarre Radiophonic voices made it all the more alarming.

  • The song is really catchy.

But the show itself was crap, I remember crappy cut out aliens who were hard to understand!

  • Like so many others.. I'm the only one in my circle of mates who remembers this!

  • Been looking for this series all over the place. I was recently given the 7" vinyl as a present. No one seems to have recorded this show in the eighties :(

  • Me too. nobody I ask ever remembers this show. but the theme always stuck in my head.

  • Actually, the B-side to that single is pretty catchy too.

  • I remember this from my kid days lol ... everyone I ask about this seems to think I am makin this tv prog up ....

  • I'm sure there was a badge that was the prize in this series-which i wanted desperately as a kid-how naff! And the aliens were all just drawings-very low budget stuff-how times have changed-how old do i feel!

  • I remember the hair slicks!! "And remember ! Stay alert!" What a load of Stilgoe!! Speaking of which...

  • i remember this the kids had slick back hair and the aliens were cardboard and i also thought it was crap but i never missed an episode i think it starred the bloke from the police series Rosie

  • There was something about it that made it compulsive viewing, despite it's cheapness. Actually, I think I quite liked the cardboard aliens.

  • Wow, I think you're right! You should probably win a badge or something. :)

  • I remember this show, I didn't like it, but watched it almost every week!

  • I agree! I didn't like it either but the song was cool

  • well it was a catchy themetune

  • Did it only get one series? I can remember having to strain my ears to understand what the aliens were saying, oh yeah and the 'wet look' hair gel!

  • All I remember is that the kids in the audience, trying to solve the mystery, all had their hair greased back.

  • Has anyone actually got footage of this show??? All I remmember is that in the future people write on orange plastic with white pencils.
