Thanks a million for putting this video up - nice to hear something positive about the EU for once. Also, Ireland's finally passed the Lisbon treaty! Its a pity that the Czechs and the British opposition seem determined to stop it. Still, its nice to see the Tories united with some part of Europe, even if it is in irrational bigotry. Sometimes, I'm ashamed to have the British passport. Still, at least its the same as the one I'd have from ireland, courtesy of the EU, so that's something!
I am an EU citizen, and always use that when asked of my nationality. But I hope that Switzerland remains out. Switzerland's democracy needs to stay alive to inspire us all.
Many people consider Israel to be European, especially culturally. That is why they're a member of e.g. the Eurovision Song Contest and UEFA (European football association).
Mein Kampf says "Should one State preserve its national strength and its national greatness the empire of the Jewish satrapy, like every other tyranny, would have to succumb to the force of the national idea." I support the EU.:
For me Europe is the freedom to go to Germany or Spain, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Luxembourg, England. If one day I want to work in Germany, I can. If I want to live in Spain, I can. Even if there is the language barrier. When I cross the bridge kehl between France and Germany as if I was going in the south of France. I feel European.
I must say its untrue peace in the Balkans is fragile and since Kosovo its been unstable. Europe still cant realistically bring peace because it still doesn't understand the amount of ethnic nationalism. Instead of defusing it we are feeding it by picking sides.
Yes and much of it has been in the Balkans that is why western Europe does not understand it. Either that or it purposely wants this to happen which really makes no sense.
Most the wars happened in Western/Central Europe, there havn been that many in Balkans comapared to other parts, when looking at the amount of wars and the size of them.
Its just western Europe progressed after WWII, whilst the Iron Curtain just witheld the rest East.
I beg to differ most of the decisive wars happened in the East and the Balkans. I can think of so many including the greatest threat to Europe the Ottomans and Hitler. The iron curtain was just the most recent out of a long history. I ask for understanding which you brush off as irrelevant and than wonder why things happen the way they do always in the Balkans instead of creating a solution.
WWI+II were fought decisively in western Europe/Russia.
I agree about the Ottoman wars, although some like Crimea were fought in nowadays Ukraine, not the Balkans. All I'm saying is that even though there is nationalism in Balkans, you cannot say no one else understands it as other European countries have had the same paths of history up until 1945, which is still in living memory.
I agree some of the "solutions" arnt great, but theres peace and prosperity atm, and thats whats important imo.
the economics in ireland booms, it has a service sector of over 40%, is a favored destination for foreign investments and ranks #7 worldwide in direct investments. the national debt from 1990 (95.2%) has sunken to 25.1% (2006). maybe you don't like it and probably you won't understand it but this success is 100% based on the efforts of the eu. the eu does not need ireland but try to guess who needs the eu?
If the EU is the equivalant of a united states of america, I would say kiss your democracy goodbye. We have no controll of our government. Why are there 47 types of toothpaste at the walmart to choose from but when I vote for president I only get to choose from two.also there is nothing in walmart with a made in EU sticker on it.We just spent our childrens future on an unjustified war.Did any government official from EU try to stop it,No,because both our countries are run by the same crimminals.
@BabylonRevival No he actually has a sound point there, Babylon. We don't get to vote for our president and the pushed through "Lisbon" regardless of what we all said.
Damn right it's time for reform but we can lean a thing or two from the US and Switzerland. Direct democracy is the answer.
The EU is about creating a lot of positive energy so that european brothers can learn how to respect each other after fighting so many wars in the past. Its functioning can, like all things, be greatly improved, but its existence should never be questioned!
The person responsible for this video is either working for the PR desk of the EU, or he should be. Anyhooo, why is Europe also obsessed with climate?
i think its obvious, climate change will affect us all,but mostly nordic nations,Norway,Sweden,Finland, and other parts, maybe even germany, and poland, canbecome so cold, that life will be impossible there. we don´t want that in our consciousness.
Its why Climate change is today, the issue of the most extreme importance, maybe more than all others.

Well, at least here in Germany that isn´t a problem. The sentiment about any overly nationalistic stuff can be summarised in one sentence: We had our fair share of wars to end all wars, thank you.
British empire what are you talking about this is about my right as a uk citizen to determine my own future not to be ruled by a foreign power. I do not wish to be a socialist or wish to see the taxes i pay stolen to prop up former communist countries
Mark as a UK citizen you will always have a right to determine the future of this country, we will always have the power to vote for a party that pulls us out of the European Union. (although such a vote would be a disaster for Britain the option is always there)
As for taxes, Britain gives aid to many nations, money doesnt just go to Eastern Europe. The money invested in Eastern Europe is a far better investment and its being used to help improve many lives.
We could build and maintain 20 hospitals a year on the money this country wastes on europe we could treat our oaps with the services and respect they deserve and reduce unemployment at a stroke
Indeed.. if we cut off all international aid we could invest so much more money in our health care but we dont.. We pay international aid so i dont understand how 6 billion to the EU is such a bad thing. Some of that money does get wasted but alot of it goes to making european nations economies stronger.. thats a good thing.
the richer european economies become the more they have to pay into the EU, meaning the less we have to in the future.
Let Europe be united just leave us out of it the British people dont want to be part of your socialist superstate as soon as the traitors in our government who sold us out are delt with we will leave the E.U.
Ur a fool and you do not speak for the British people. .The Conservative party, the Lib dems, Labour and the SNP all support our membership of the European Union.. Who is going to lead your little revolution? UKIP? Give me a break..
Membership of the European Union is good for Britain. If you dont think so, please explain?
polls in recent years show a majority of the uk want out of the eu.the labourparty/libdems want us in most conservatives want us out but none of the main parties represent the views of the people why do you think the government is so scared of a referendum. Every citizen in the UK contributes over £1000 per year into the EU just to be told what to do by an unelected group who are so corrupt the accountants have refused to sign off the eu accounts for ELEVEN Years.we DONT NEED THEM
referendums are a leftover of unwise constitutions. the majority of france and netherlands were and is pro EU. the problem with referendums is that the people use it to judge the current administrations beside the content of the referendum. 35-45 years old, i see that in uk and usa: pseudo patriots, limited knowledge, don't getting over the fact, that the british empire crumbled resp. usa's leading role expires
Referendums would be determined by stupid newspapers such as The Sun which has always been anti european. Just so happens that newspaper along with The Times is owned by a right wing American, who also hates Europe... Coincidence?
EU is unpopular in Britain, however as u say the main parties in the UK support our membership.. why? Because they know its good for Britain.
If we had a referendum on our membership. Conservatives, SNP, Labour, Lib dems would tell people to vote to stay in.. u think the British people will listen to a couple of clowns in UKIP?
Oh and i can find a few polls from recent years in the UK that suggest people want the death penalty and cane brought back.. Just because its what a poll says doesnt mean its the right thing to do.
UKIP is the only main party against our membership of the European Union, unless u include the BNP. Why will anyone listen to these radical little groups over the 4 main parties the majority of people in this country vote for?
This is a British democracy, we have a parliament to decide our laws the general population are not qualified. People change their opinions like they change underware, depending on what newspapers tell them

Busy little propaganda machine aren't you! You think because a political party "tells people to do something" they will automatically do it, like some robot?
It's clear the UKIP troubles you (or more accurately, the party that has instructed you to post here), if it didn't, you wouldn't bring it up.
No party has instructed me to post here and its people who believe that Britain leaving the EU would be a good thing that troubles me. Just as the right wing BNP coming to power, or the SNP trying to break up the United Kingdom bothers me.
Many people in the UK do not understand how our membership has been good for the UK and they also fail to list serious problems they have with it.
Most are caused by the UK government or simply crazy ideas about some future nazi state.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Actually, most people are perfectly of the fact that we pay in more than we get back, that our borders are open to anyone from within the EU rgeardless of whether we can provide for them or not and most of aware of the fact that laws are made by the EU Commission which we cannot vote out of office.
Have you ever thought of that sometimes you have to give something to get something? I'm from sweden and we pay very much taxes, but we know that what we pay for is going to good thing and in long time might come back.
Considering most votes go to the lib Dems, Labour, Conservatives and the SNP somehow i think all of these groups coming together saying its vital for the British economy and nation to remain as part of the Union and help educate people as to WHY its important will get a few people listening.
Its true there will be some who will be against it no matter what, most people however arae not as anti european as some :)
Vigilando, agendo, bene consulendo, prospera omnia cedunt - By watching, by doing, by counsulting well, these things yield all things prosperous. (Sallust)
time will tell. It's good that at least some people spread eu(ro)phoria, but keep in mind that it could all go horribly wrong. AND it could finish from one day to the other. Imagine the UK going away, many nations would follow, and than two power blocs once again.
i don't have this fear. uk leaving is a possible scenario though, but most likely would not affect the other countries. many countries leaving is not realistic i guess, because all members benefit from it, either directly or allusively
Why the fuck would other countries follow? For the first, and for the secound, it is Blair HIMSELF and Sarkozy who have discussed the new treaty that would work like the constitution which got voted down 2 years ago.
well, that's right (for the second), but there are enough activists that say that blair (and now, gorden brown) are corrupt and acting against the will of their people. They(activists) are trying to make the british angry enough so they vote for a radical new governement which will finally do what the UK "really needs".
As long as I know, public opinion in UK is either neutral or hostile towards EU (but than again, if you believe german Youtube-videos, 90% of the germans are nazis lol^^)
For the first, I think that the UK has lots of influence and between the 3 biggest countries in EU (France-UK-Germany) it is the one several nations have the most of symphaty for, and their only reason why they trust the EU (more or less)
not anymore.. that's the cool thing about the EU. Those times are far different from ours now - Though it takes massive amounts of time, men can change, and the easiest way is trade. It makes us dependent upon another.
european war unthinkable. They said the same thing after napoleon. 40 years til the crimean, pthe wars of german & italian unifacation then 2 world wars. Take america out of the mix and europe would be at each others throats for the hegemony!
that is true, but i didn't want to overact. i also could have added that EU united would have von 90 gold, 108 silver and 119 bronze medals, 317 in total at the last olympics in athens
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The EU is treating us British like crap we pay the most money into the EU and we get nothing in return. I can't name one good thing Britain gets out of the EU
that is incorrect. Germany is holding by far the lion's share since the EU was created and barely getting anything back directly. take 2001, the UK contributed 4.6 bn Euro and received 5.8 bn Euro from the EU. and this statistics do not even include the allusively profits by means of exports
It's not about money I am saying what dose the average person on the streets of the UK get from the EU nothing. The EU openly wants to destroy the culture of the UK by taking are currency our royal family are laws car companies like rover and Mclaren the list goes on. On top of all that we have the immigrant problem we get hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants arriving in Britain every year and thanks to the EU we can do nothing about it and Britain is overcrowded already.
u were actually talking about money and therefor i gave a counter-example. what else do you expect, a welcome bag or an EU hat? rover is now part of bmw, which is an advantage for rover, look at mannesmann, which was aqcuired by vodafone. McLaren never was a car company but a motor racing team and seriously the EU has nill interest in the royals. the pound will be replaced by the Euro someday but also the dollar and illegal immigrants need to be solved by national politics
If the EU had a single asylum policy, every member state would have to take its fair share. As it is, migrants flock to the states with the more generous systems. As for the Royal Family, the EU has many- the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, Monaco (and outside the EU, (Norway and Liechtenstein). Go to the continent if you are looking for how the UK "used to be". UK popular culture is being destroyed by the USA, not Europe.
the ability for you to travel unhindered, get quicker surgery in EU countries compared to the long queues in your country, buy property in the EU, cheaper roaming calls within the EU etc etc. Want more? LOL€
You've made excellent points, my friend. The EU tries so hard to counterweight American superiority that it tries to do everything perfectly, thereby attracting other nations. A good example, as you showed in your video, is the AirBus.
i want europe to succeed, but times are shiver me timbers

1. Sovereighty
2. Independence
3. Right to make our own laws
4. Right to remove politicians if they are no good

@BabylonRevival Nice vid and keep up the good commenting!! you really own them...

TheBritishWatcher 4 years ago
If we had a referendum on our membership. Conservatives, SNP, Labour, Lib dems would tell people to vote to stay in.. u think the British people will listen to a couple of clowns in UKIP?
Oh and i can find a few polls from recent years in the UK that suggest people want the death penalty and cane brought back.. Just because its what a poll says doesnt mean its the right thing to do.
TheBritishWatcher 4 years ago
And i thought the whole basis of democracy was about the majority view being accepted
why do you assume i have any involvment with ukip i have no connection to that party whatsoever
markwrxx 4 years ago
UKIP is the only main party against our membership of the European Union, unless u include the BNP. Why will anyone listen to these radical little groups over the 4 main parties the majority of people in this country vote for?
This is a British democracy, we have a parliament to decide our laws the general population are not qualified. People change their opinions like they change underware, depending on what newspapers tell them

Busy little propaganda machine aren't you! You think because a political party "tells people to do something" they will automatically do it, like some robot?
It's clear the UKIP troubles you (or more accurately, the party that has instructed you to post here), if it didn't, you wouldn't bring it up.
andymurray2007 4 years ago
No party has instructed me to post here and its people who believe that Britain leaving the EU would be a good thing that troubles me. Just as the right wing BNP coming to power, or the SNP trying to break up the United Kingdom bothers me.
Many people in the UK do not understand how our membership has been good for the UK and they also fail to list serious problems they have with it.
Most are caused by the UK government or simply crazy ideas about some future nazi state.

Actually, most people are perfectly of the fact that we pay in more than we get back, that our borders are open to anyone from within the EU rgeardless of whether we can provide for them or not and most of aware of the fact that laws are made by the EU Commission which we cannot vote out of office.
This is just my starter for ten....

Its true there will be some who will be against it no matter what, most people however arae not as anti european as some :)

time will tell. It's good that at least some people spread eu(ro)phoria, but keep in mind that it could all go horribly wrong. AND it could finish from one day to the other. Imagine the UK going away, many nations would follow, and than two power blocs once again.
neoZykl 4 years ago
i don't have this fear. uk leaving is a possible scenario though, but most likely would not affect the other countries. many countries leaving is not realistic i guess, because all members benefit from it, either directly or allusively
BabylonRevival 4 years ago
Why the fuck would other countries follow? For the first, and for the secound, it is Blair HIMSELF and Sarkozy who have discussed the new treaty that would work like the constitution which got voted down 2 years ago.
americanscantbuild 4 years ago
well, that's right (for the second), but there are enough activists that say that blair (and now, gorden brown) are corrupt and acting against the will of their people. They(activists) are trying to make the british angry enough so they vote for a radical new governement which will finally do what the UK "really needs".
neoZykl 4 years ago
As long as I know, public opinion in UK is either neutral or hostile towards EU (but than again, if you believe german Youtube-videos, 90% of the germans are nazis lol^^)
For the first, I think that the UK has lots of influence and between the 3 biggest countries in EU (France-UK-Germany) it is the one several nations have the most of symphaty for, and their only reason why they trust the EU (more or less)
neoZykl 4 years ago
not anymore.. that's the cool thing about the EU.

The EU is worth to get some money for the peace, wealth and freedom it provides to us.
We (Austria) paid 302 Million, thats a lot for such a little country, but I think its ok.

that is true, but i didn't want to overact. i also could have added that EU united would have von 90 gold, 108 silver and 119 bronze medals, 317 in total at the last olympics in athens

The EU is treating us British like crap we pay the most money into the EU and we get nothing in return. I can't name one good thing Britain gets out of the EU
STremain118 4 years ago
that is incorrect. Germany is holding by far the lion's share since the EU was created and barely getting anything back directly. take 2001, the UK contributed 4.6 bn Euro and received 5.8 bn Euro from the EU. and this statistics do not even include the allusively profits by means of exports
BabylonRevival 4 years ago
It's not about money I am saying what dose the average person on the streets of the UK get from the EU nothing. The EU openly wants to destroy the culture of the UK by taking are currency our royal family are laws car companies like rover and Mclaren the list goes on. On top of all that we have the immigrant problem we get hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants arriving in Britain every year and thanks to the EU we can do nothing about it and Britain is overcrowded already.
STremain118 4 years ago
u were actually talking about money and therefor i gave a counter-example. what else do you expect, a welcome bag or an EU hat? rover is now part of bmw, which is an advantage for rover, look at mannesmann, which was aqcuired by vodafone. McLaren never was a car company but a motor racing team and seriously the EU has nill interest in the royals. the pound will be replaced by the Euro someday but also the dollar and illegal immigrants need to be solved by national politics
BabylonRevival 4 years ago
If the EU had a single asylum policy, every member state would have to take its fair share. As it is, migrants flock to the states with the more generous systems. As for the Royal Family, the EU has many- the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, Monaco (and outside the EU, (Norway and Liechtenstein). Go to the continent if you are looking for how the UK "used to be". UK popular culture is being destroyed by the USA, not Europe.

You've made excellent points, my friend. The EU tries so hard to counterweight American superiority that it tries to do everything perfectly, thereby attracting other nations. A good example, as you showed in your video, is the AirBus.
