To be honest, I thought it was at least as cute as if she had winked. I think they intentionally went with that take and for good reason.

For the record, I find Clemence Poesy to be an incredibly attractive woman, and she did a great job in this amazing film. Her chemistry with Ray felt so believable, and during the "On Raglan Road" scene, when they cut to her and Ray cuddling up to each other over beers at the cafe, I really wished that they could have stayed like that.

Seen that very confrontation happen many a time in night-clubs. Theres always a girl who picks up a smirnoff bottle thinking the "pussy-pass" will save her. Only difference from the film is they tend to be at least 10 stone heavier and ugly as f00k.

America wasn't around when the big boys where fighting, so to compensate they jump on countries having religious/political/ land grubbing disputes.
